  1. For those of you that have your dogs on Ziwipeak how are you finding your dog's reaction to the food? I've recently introduced my 8 year old Staffy to the brand. And she seems to be enjoying the food, but she's ran outside a few mornings after wakening up to franticaly eat grass - upset stomach? Her stools were a bit soft at the beginning but are now more or less back to normal. She does however pass a lot of wind - and it stinks to high heavens. Not too sure whether to persits slowly with the food - or else try something different. I've just bought a 5kg bag, so I'm reluctant to through it away. I normally feed her raw, but I'm heading overseas in a few weeks and I need her to be able to eat dry food - easier for the hubby to manage. Cheers
  2. Many thanks H for posting the link. Have an appointment Monday for a second opinion. Cheers
  3. No improvement at all and no testing was done for a thyroid condition. Have continued feeding her a raw diet..........no kibble at all. Will take her along to another vet for a second opinion. Thanks for responding. Cheers
  4. Thanks for your response................no scrapings were taken. I am going to take her along this week to another vet for a second opinion. Cheers
  5. There seems to be some very knowledgable people on this forum.................so I'm hoping they'll be able to give me some advice/help. I did take her to the vet about 6 weeks ago with her condition. These are her symptoms: under belly black, red around the anus and she is losing hair on the side of her body, so it also looks black. She's not really that itchy and overall she does not appear bothered with her condition. But her coat does look unsightly. It's looks as if she rolled in something. Vet said it was a yeast infection due to a low immune system and to put her on a raw diet. Her diet and that time was kibble (no grain) and fresh bones. I have now stopped the kibble completely and she's just on raw with supplements. But there is still no improvment to her overall skin condition. I do plan to take her back to the vet, but I'd just thought I'd ask here first as some of you may have gone through a similiar problem with your own dogs. Cheers I also put her on Claratyne and bought Malaseb to wash her.
  6. If the dog does have a yeast infection would the Claratyne help to relieve the yeast condition?
  7. My god that's so beautiful and so honest RIP sweet man Bonniescot The Rainbow Bridge has another occupant. R.I.P. Aust Ch Gamester Street Machine - 6th June 1997 - 12th April 2007. You were the breed standard to a T...."bold, fearless and totally reliable". Your spirit will live on in our memories. Our laughter and tears today are a testament to the hole you have left in our hearts. There will never be another Reginald. You were the sex police, the nicotine police and the drug squad. It's a miracle we ever managed to have children because affection wasn't affection unless Reginald was in the middle of it. You burped and farted your way through life with the biggest smile on your face and you epitomised "joidevivre". You gave me wonderful memories. My first time handling a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. My first Specialty CC win. My first Specialty BIS win (191 entries). Runner Up Best In Group (Group II) at the Royal Hobart Show under Michelle Billings (my dream come true!). You protected me when you thought there was danger. You kissed me when you thought I needed cheering up and NOBODY in our household EVER had dirty ears or faces because you took that part of your job very seriously indeed. The sun isn't as warm and the tears are hotter than I can ever remember. The girls are looking for their mate and for a change the food bowls are full. Nanny Ford's Malteser packet is in her handbag and she hasn't had to hide her handbag to stop you from finding it. God, if he gives you so much as an ounce of trouble, or backchats you when you tell him off, or hogs the bed, or burps in your face, or steals your socks and puts a hole in them, you're very very welcome to send him back. We understand him and are more than happy to put up with his little quirks just to have him in our lives again. The world just doesn't look the same any more. R.I.P. Reginald, my boofy-snodge, my smelly old mate. The days can't go fast enough until we're together again. Don't put a hole in that tennis ball too quickly, I'm not sure if they've got tennis balls in that particular colour over that stupid bridge. I love you old man.
  8. I have sent you an e-mail. Kind Regards Staffy
  9. Haven...the Canine Behaviour Certificate what's the requirements on taking that course? Do you have to complete the Cert 3 with ADT first, or will they recognise other certificates, such as the Delta Certificate? How long does the Canine Behaviour course last? Cheers

  15. I read some where that seemingly clothes flapping in the wind on a washing line is just TOO much of a temptation for a young dog.... My staffy would constantly take the washing off the line....so in the end we just doubled the washing up on the line so she could not reach it. She was about 2 when she gave up this game. ps.she had a playmate all day long to way with, toys, sandpit ...... Cheers
  16. Maybe it's not a case of Positive trainers v Traditional trainers Maybe it's a case of human emotion: Could I hit my dog over the head with a crowbar? I think emotionally I would have great difficulty doing that for training purposes but if it was to save his life......no problems! Just my thoughts!! Cheers
  17. pgm: mmmm INTERESTING!! My knowledge on Dog Psychology is limited, so I will leave it up to others to comment. When my pup comes running up to me at the park, without being called, she looks up to me for a reward (she is rewarded on a random ratio). Is she confused/does it effect our relationship.........who knows! Cheers
  18. pgm: Can I ask what method/training you believe develops the relationship to its fullest extent? Cheers
  19. Theory: Explanation of how things work, i.e. learning theory is an account of how learning takes place. Method: A way of doing something pgm: Why can't you train a dog with operant conditioning? Cheers
  20. Hypothetical question................ K9: would you post a p...collar to Vic?? Cheers
