14 and 15 months???? they are still puppies!! Id expect them to take stuff off the line and chew them.. my girl destroyed things until she was at least 3... I could only now maybe leave washing on the line (maybe not all day) and not have her rip it down but would start with an old towel to see if she has a go... She used to take my expensive bra's off the clothes horse inside and destroy them and even now takes them but just carries them around and doesnt eat them.. Id just stop hanging things up until theyre a bit older...

I was too busy drooling over all the GSD puppies, sorry

Just make sure its your dog barking... You have been given some great advice which you should follow, all dogs can be barkers even trained ones like my girl. She is indoor with us at night, if she were out she would bark all night at possums to let us know theyre there, thats her job... Lucky for me when my neighbours love our dog and know if she barking theres a reason and I check regularily that she doesnt make any noise. Now they have new puppies themselves its going to interesting.. maybe shoot your neighbours a note to let them know to contact you, makes the world of difference.. best of luck... Ps= any way your GSD can sleep inside? She may be barking because she wants to be inside with "the pack"...

German Shepherd Fights Off Muggers In Canberra
charli73 replied to Shepherd 08's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yay Puppy!!!! What were they thinking? I know my girl would protect me... esp since Im pregnant now.. -
Our German Shepherd had a hernia about the size of a walnut. Our breeder and my vet told us just to get it fixed when we had her de-sexed but some just fix themselves which Zoes did... Have your vet check it out and make a decision....

I was looking at an Xtrail earlier this year too... Ive been looking at a Jeep Cherokee too..... Just drive a few and see which one you like.. pity you cant bring your dogs to the test drive

Can you pull him off and tell him "No!" or a firm "Ahh Ah" then tell him "bed" and reward him for goint to his bed? Zoe used to do this at night once we went to bed (cheeky) so I put cushions and bean bags on the couch at night and she stop trying to bother getting up there now...

Given he has them i dont think he was rubbishing them, more being honest about the fact that it is humans who bred them for our own purposes and that it has brought some problems for them. Loved seeing the working dogs work :D

I know the puppy shop down the street from us offers a 7 day warrantee.. Its such BS.

German Shepherd Died In Tragic Accident
charli73 replied to Riley'n'Mia's topic in General Dog Discussion
Jade Im so sorry for your loss, what a absolute tragedy...hugs for you and your family. RIP Riley -
Yes i rememebr that too, he had to introduce his new girlfriend to the wolves and leave her alone with the wolves for some time, maybe shes not around anymore... I thought it was a bit gross when he let the wolves lick his mouth and he was kind of tongue kissing the wolf, ewwwww!!!!!
-
I thought it was fascinating too, loved seeing the wolves in their pack and the similarities between them and my dog... very scary. I agree about breeds being engineered to our own needs, I look forward to the next episode.

Elfin I hope your dog recovers soon... A friend had an incident with her dog and another in an off lead area and although the owners gave the number and name and offered to pay vet bills it was 5 months before the matter was dealt with because the council... They will deem the attack serious if a puncture wound is involved generally.... in your case that shouldnt be an issue... Owners will have to go to council and both give formal statements and the process can take weeks to resolve... Best of luck with it all.... Its a pity some owners are more interested in their phone calls than what their dogs are doing..

Well after having Zoe on the Good as gold supplement we initailly thought she had made some improvement but after a couple of weeks she was back to her old whiny self... she was getting the runs from the supplement and oats too... Instead I have tried using the DAP diffuser, the pheremone thing that plugs into the wall for when she is inside and it has been fantastic! I have noticed a huge change in her behaviour when inside where it is the worst.... If this didnt work I was onto the behaviour paste also but glad I have found an non ingested approach!!

Idea Weight Through Lifespan Of Gsd's
charli73 replied to buggerme's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My GSD girl Zoe is 3yo and she is small, only weighs 32kg.. She is pretty slim and muscular though... -
Yeah I was wondering how her dane dying of Bloat was caused by the plastic in the food????
-
I saw it, that is Zoe's vet they interviewed.... I had heard about Orijen for its issues before but wouldnt mind looking at that list of recalled products...

About the same amount, start off with just a little potato just in case, build it up over a few days. I'd like to see his stomach settle first. He might even respond to just the addition of the tryptophan, the addition of carbs is a "belt and braces" approach, covering all bases. Exercise and natural sunlight are important too, there are a number of factors. Are there two Aidans here, one in Qld one in Tas? Anyhow my GSD had her 2nd batch this morning and she seemed less anxious when I got home... usually she sooks but she just grabbed a chew and amused herself.. When hubby got home and we put our shoes on for a walk (prob worst whining time) she made one noise then laid down till we were done!!!! That was not like her at all.. anyway I hope the good results continue...... Thanks again Aidan (aidan2?)

I have just given Zoe her first dose this morning.... Im hoping I see something over the next few days. Just walking around looking for the cat she whines! I saw some inprovement on Clomicalm (not on it anymore) but using something more natural seems more appealing..
-
Great to see you're on the mend, Welcome back
-
I was looking at the DAP too, Id love to know how it goes.....
-
Cool thanks guys, so I may have a flashing dog soon :D
-
hello! Last week we took Zoe for an off lead run at night and saw a lady with two dogs and they each had a coloured flashing light attached to their collars so she could see where they were, red and green. Its a brilliant idea, anyone seen them or know where they sell them? i didnt have a chance to track this lady and her flashing labs down!!

Great Info sas, Im looking for an all natural remedy as an alternative for clomicalm for my GSD with anxiety too.... seeing as I was quoted $180 for a phone consultation with a herbalist vet..
