NO, but I expect if a vet has a strong opinion against any practise to do with dogs, they should at least know the total aspect of what it is they find so abhorrent. Afterall their profession is based on the accumulation of knowledge and lifelong learning. spot on, its the assumption that gets me, the assumption that someone (a breeder) has done something illegal and the assumption that the tail has been docked. it would have been better for the vet to hold their tongue and do some research rather than try to be the expert. pretty ignorant imo I agree with you both completely. People assuming the worst with tails, whether they be bobbed or legally docked, annoys me no end.

If red is bred to red (tri or merles) you can't get black or blue. I love the reds.

Not all vets have a thorough knowledge on all the breeds and what genes they may or may not carry.

Not happy the terrier club show is on the same day as Sunday specials. Entered a bunch of Aussies for Sunday but we have a USA judge for the terrier club and would love to show there too. Grr!

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)

RIP Magnus. -
Some Australian Irish Terrier breeders are now testing for Cystinuria. No DNA test is currently available but urine tests are being taken and sent to the USA. There is hope there will be a DNA test soon. It is not a big issue within the breed but something I think we should be trying to breed out now. Ruby is being tested within the next couple of weeks. ETA: Anlaun Kennels has a very good page: http://www.anluan.net/health-testing.asp

Gayle - breeders can move them across I think? Might be worth looking in to?

I work at Topspot and would happily board my dogs and cats there! Lovely grassed runs to play in and awesome staff. :D Chris who owns/runs it is AWESOME. You wouldn't meet a nicer lady. Hi Lyndsay, Bailey spent a week at topspot slightly more than a week ago, did you get a chance to meet him? =) He's a pembroke corgi. Back to the topic, I was overall satisfied with Topspot. I left Bailey there for a week while I was Interstate. He came home all happy and contented. He did came back slightly too overweight to my liking, but I reckon that was prolly my fault for not specifying how much to feed him etc. Just something you might wanna keep in mind. overall, i would be more than happy to drop bailey thr again if the need arises. i'll just have to keep in mind to provide them with a diet sheet. No I didn't sorry, I haven't been working there as much with uni and a 2nd job now (vet nurse). Heard about him though! Specifying how much food is a good idea, it can be difficult to get it right especially with short stays as every dog is slightly different. Letting us know exactly how many cups of food or chicken necks or the like is best. Glad he enjoyed his stay!

Poll- How Many Dogs And If You Work Full Time
Sayly replied to jazawayaya's topic in General Dog Discussion
4 (sometimes 5) dogs here, we work/study full time. They get regular walks and games and spend alot of time inside with us when we are home. -

The new leg was brought in during 2000 I think so they may be older dogs debarked. I'm the same as Bon, just honestly interested and would like to know why it is illegal?
-
http://www.legislation.sa.gov.au/LZ/C/R/An...ons%202000.aspx I'm still looking but I haven't found anything on ways around it.
-
I'd like to know too Bon as I've heard the same but know of some debarked dogs.

I love the range of markings the Aussies can have and the merling provides some interesting stuff to look at. ETA: Exactly sammy!

I can't see Africa but I can see a kangaroo's head!

Hey! Sibes have really striking markings. Holly spent last week and some of this week with Bree (and Bree's brother) and loves her. I'm picking both Holly and Bree up tomorrow (Holly was with her breeder to get her hips and elbows scored at her vet).

Thank you! I'm in Birdwood so I doubt they would deliver up here but I am going to contact a few local fodder places and see if they do it, if not Bucket o Beef it will be. Thanks! -

Thanks for that! Will try and find someone who stocks UA or will get it in for us and give it a try. -

Is Great Barko the same as Uncle Albers? Or a different brand? We have a sample pack of Great Barko here and Ruby LOVES it. I have heard good things about UA. Re supercoat and skin issues, Poppy had terrible skin on supercoat, changed her to Pro Plan Adult and the skin improved alot, changed to sensitive skin and stomach and she's doing really well. Occasionally has flare ups but not the constant issues like previously on SC. Of course it could well be due to other environmental causes too. -

Good night Jed. I don't know what to say about the video except you appear so calm and collected, rational like you are on here. I hope you sleep well and continue to get better. Still thinking of you.
