As a 21 year old it's honestly not something I have thought about, should I die tomorrow they would stay here with my parents anyway, but if something happened to all of us Holly and Ruby would go back to their breeders but I think Gracie and Poppy would end up in the pound, Poppy would likely be put to sleep as she's not the easiest dog and is DA. If my OH was alive I know he would make sure that didn't happen but should something happen to him too then no more Poppers. Might have a chat to Mum and Dad about this!

Question For Breeders About Pet Stores.
Sayly replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
In the event of a tragedy where I couldn't look after the pups, there are several people who would take the litter on for me I believe, just as I would do for them should it come to it. We are just about to breed our first litter and our bitch's breeder would take the litter on should something terrible happen to Mum and I, should she not be able to I'm sure numerous doggy friends would also help out if needed. While some of them might not be ideal, they would be a hell of a lot better than a pet shop!!! -
The Norfolks I have met are INCREDIBLY prey driven and if you want one, put your name on a waiting list early! There aren't many around. Borders are more laid back terriers and the ones I've met are very food driven and easy to train for a terrier. Not as willing to please as the Aussie Shepherds but many will do almost anything for food!

A calm, small bitch Aussie would be suitable if you wanted to go down that track again. I know how much a handful Banjo has been but what you are describing is pretty much Holly. It would just be about finding the right one, although I completely understand you not wanting to go with another Aussie after Banjo.

We had a Bridget (Irish), I like Brigitte! You could go simple like Flash (she's flashy and might suit an agility dog).

What Do You Think Someone Should Do?
Sayly replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
As someone who hopes to breed in the future, I have found the best ways I have learnt about my breed have been a willingness to ask questions from lots of different breeders with different types, REALLY listen to the answers and value and respect those who have been in the breed longer and know a hell of a lot more. -
And if you are willing to help out others they may be willing to help you out when you need it later on.
-
I'm lucky with the Aussies here in SA, everyone is willing to help someone else out for run offs if need be.

Holly does this when she's in my room at night and we are playing games before bed time. When she gets really happy she'll do this with a big pillow I have. She also drags it on to and off of my bed.

There's a vet a couple of towns over from us with Bedlingtons, we are thinking about changing vets - at least she recognises rare terriers!
-
We recently had our kitten at the vets in a carrier. Bogan family walk in (all 6 of them - all adults) with 2 small dogs, one being a small terrier. They allowed the terrier to wander up to the crate which was between my legs so he could say hello. No way mate! What if my kitten was terrified of dogs? Already in a new, strange place and he has a dog's nose shoved in his face with no way of escape. Another situation, we had Ruby in and she'd been under sedation to get a grass seed from near her eardrum and was still a bit groggy. Normally she loves pups but we opened the door to go into the clinic and a Stafford pup rushed over into her face and she growled. I can't say I blame her, she was so out of it and obviously feeling like crap to have a pup rush at her face and grab her beard wasn't a nice experience. Poppy is DA and if the above had happened to her she could have emotionally damaged that pup and made HIM DA.

I wouldn't class Aussies as rare but they aren't a common breed either. Increasing in popularity though and whenever I see one I always make sure to speak to the owner! Irish are rare and no one, unless they are older and Irish themselves or have had one, know what Ruby is. Usuaully she's an Airedale or just "funny looking". We once had someone call her a whisky terrier?

She's picked up a few classes in group recently! Isn't she cute!

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)
Sayly replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
Hope they can do something about the pressure gear and give you a bit more comfort. -
Ruby and Gracie are independent dogs who will quite happily do their own thing. Poppy is lazy. She couldn't be bothered getting off the bed a couple of times this week so didn't end up going for a walk. Not that she cared. Holly is busy but usually involves us in her plans, she's usually looking for a cuddle or bringing us toys.

They were things I actually already thought were in place but obviously not!
-
Yep. But I have to say the new legislations they were thinking about bringing in are a good idea; not being able to sell sick puppies and raising the minimum age of sale from 7 weeks to 8 weeks of age.
-
Good to see a few people mentioning the normally unloved Irish Terriers!

Some of the nicest and easiest dogs to mix at work are Beagles. They are the noisiest but very easy to have around other dogs. The only ones we haven't mixed are entire ones (we never mix entires anyway).
