Channel 10 updates today have included Harry's story and numerous pictures of him, and the reward being offered.

I will be there on the Aussie Shepherd stand but likely won't have any of my own dogs as they are all in season! Silly things.
-
I couldn't agree more fifi. Wonderful people who obviously adore their dogs. I hope Harry is returned, what scum! I hope the culprit is found and dealt with!
-
I'm glad they have a description of the scumbag, I hope he gets found before leaving the show grounds and Kylie can take her little man home with her tonight.

A male (I think longcoat) Chihuahua was stolen out of his box at the Adelaide Royal today. I have read that ADVANCE has offered a $2000 reward for information leading to the safe return of Harry.

Learning From A Long Time Breeder Before Starting As A Breeder
Sayly replied to heroeswit's topic in Breeders Community
Mum and I couldn't imagine doing this on our own. We have learnt so much from several fantastic mentors, for example being present when some of their litters are being born taught me much more than I could ever read in a book. Having someone to help guide your decisions and keep you on the right track with years of experience on their side is invaluable. -
Thanks everyone, that's how Mum and I were feeling but weren't sure if we were being over precious.

I know it's been done to death but I'm not sure what to make of an email we got today. We have a breeder's listing on DOL for the Irish but no litter listed however Ruby is currentl interstate being entertained by a gorgeous stud dog, so we are looking at our first litter to be born early November. I got home today to find this email: Title: Irish Terrier Email Body: Can you pls give me a call when you can. 0418330642. Sent via iPhone No name except for what it comes up as the email address. They may have tried to ring as we weren't home today and only the home number is listed. Is it worth just giving them a call? I'm a bit put off by the bluntness of the email and surely if they were that interested in a pup they would try calling again or send an email with a bit more body to it. I'd normally talk to our mentor but she's overseas for a couple of weeks.

Whiskedaway, my boss is the president of the Dally Club of SA, next time you are out at a show I would be more than happy to introduce you. She is simply the nicest person I have ever had anything to do with and is more than happy to talk about Dallies with anyone! Her Dals are so sweet!

Oh does Sharon have Aussies? If we are thinking about the same person then OMG Beanie is soooooooo cute!

Irish Terrier was absent.

Did You Buy Your Puppy From A Less Than Reputable "breeder"?
Sayly replied to PoppyDog's topic in General Dog Discussion
Poppy is a pet shop puppy I bought when I was 17. I love her to death but there's no way I would ever do it again. She has skin/ear issues, had temperament issues and was incredibly difficult to toilet train. She's my best friend but was certainly the wrong decision. But she set the wheels in motion to getting Ruby and if it wasn't for showing Ruby I wouldn't have Holly and Bree, I'm very glad I did get her but she was and still is a lot of work compared to other dogs we have had. -
We fell in love with Gracie immediately at the breeders, we had a choice of 4 bitches and picked her. Yet she's the dog we all have bonded with the least. We love her to bits, don't get me wrong but not the same head over heels way as the other girls. Ruby we didn't pick, the breeder offered us the pick bitch to show and we said yes. She's awesome and we are missing her so much right now (she's interstate to be mated). She makes us all laugh, is incredibly sweet and I think she might be Mum's heart dog. Poppy was a petshop pup I bought when I was 17. No one else bar me liked her or bonded with her for quite some time after we got her, she was alot of hard work but it made me feel like a team with her, if that makes sense. It was us against the rest of the family, I worked my bum off training her and trying to stimulate her. She was PIA to toilet train, she destroyed everything, helped Gracie dig out and was just a terrible teenager of a pup but with the training and age she fell into being a wonderful member of the family. Everyone else did end up bonding with her but it took some time. Dad adores her now but he won't tell you that. She also was a huge help when I was suffering from pretty severe depression, she was sometimes the only reason I decided not to do anything to myself. Holly I met when she was about 12 weeks old before she became mine (long story with Holly :D ), she and I didn't click at all. I tried so hard but she did not like me and didn't want a thing to do with me. She loved her breeder and no one else got a look in. Now that she's mine and her whole world revolves around me, I couldn't be happier. I love love love my baby girl and miss her like hell when she goes back to her breeders for a few days here and there. Ask my OH, family, dog show people and they will tell you how nuts I am about my girl. I love my big softie of a dog. Bree, I clicked with pretty quickly. She loves people, she's happy and outgoing and while she loves everyone, the way she reacts to me makes me feel pretty special. I adore this little thing! I love her confidence and she's just so happy. She's confident, determined, naughty and isn't much like Holly at all but I wouldn't change her for the world. I love both personalities for different reasons and have clicked with both. Poppy, Bree and Holly all had difficult times for one reason or another and I think it helps me appreciate them better. I found my strongest bonds with dogs have come after I have had to fight a battle for/with them or been through the wars.

Holly's breeder has had small ones grow to be on the bigger end of the scale. Holly was a small runty baby but is now bigger than her mother (she's not a big girl though). The next litter from the same bitch, different sire, the smallest (very small) looks like she's bigger/heavier through the body than her sister who was much bigger at birth. The lighter built bitch is actually taller, although this is all going on pictures and measurements, the girls are in different states to each other although I hope to change that at least for a few days later this year. :D
