  1. I see lots of dogs I just dont normally see alot of the uncomon purebreds I like I did today. This was the first time i've ever seen an Irish Terrier :D There's not many around! We always stop and jump out of the car if we see someone walking one, we must look so crazy but other Irish Terrier owners seem to understand!
  2. Maizie says thank you with side ways bum wiggles! Add Peach pics and I will change the title.
  3. :D Beat me to it! The number of times Ruby has been a "red schnauzer"...
  4. I would like to say a big happy birthday to Maizie (Tuscamada All Eyes on Me) who turns one today, and her gorgeous red siter Peach (see below for Peach pics). Maizie a big sweetie who does the best side ways wiggles when she is happy, she's a joy to live with and Dad just adores her! She's gone from a very difficult bitch to show to one who is just a dream and doesn't put a foot wrong. She is co owned with her breeder, Linda of Tuscamada Kennels. Sharing secrets with her big sister. Beating up Ruby Winning puppy in group at the Adelaide Royal.
  5. +1 I was told that double handling was when a person outside the ring tried to get the dogs attention etc. Given that this case is a dog outside the ring, would it still be called double handling? ETA. Also wondering how a complaint would work. The other person could just say they were watching the judging while hanging on to a dog. And of course deny the noises they were making to attract the exhibit. I would still call it double handling but yes hard to prove!
  6. Congratulations! What cuties! Big soft spot for longs!
  7. This is my breeder's old boy Bobby, he's a grand champ and is now 11 so he's getting on. He has the best personality! The black pup under the table is my (not so) little Bree. She had alot of fun.
  8. I think the timing of the day was poor, there was an agility trial on today and being the day after the Royal show, the last thing most exhibitors feel like is spending another day answering stupid questions. I was stuffed from the Royal and it was a strugle to get there this morning. I would have enjoyed it a lot more had it not been right after the Royal.
  9. Ruby is on her way home tomorrow from a visit with the stud dog, it will hopefully be our first litter. Due about the 6th but we had multiple matings across 5 days. Fingers crossed everything goes to plan.
  10. Yay go Lyndsey!!!! Yay Lyndsay and Maizie! ;) :D WTG Lyndsay and Maizie Thanks everyone, over the moon with the win seeing it's the first time I've shown for anything in group at a Royal! Best was the Sheltie, Hero. The Dandie and Cairn were placed.
  11. I look at sparring when the judge calls sparring breeds like the Kerries and the Irish into the centre of the ring to dare each other, to puff themselves up, to show off, to be terriers. The judge, if they are willing to spar breeds, needs to keep control of the situation by making sure each dog is far enough away from the others. Baiting with a smaller dog in the ring without that dog owners permission is not sparring, it's unfair and rude. Cathy Delmar, a specialist Irish Terrier breeds judge (so including Kerries, Wheatens, Glens), was a little dissapointed in our lack of fire in the Irish bitches, they are after all the red devils, until Ruby and Lily saw each other. These two bitches don't like each other, never have, and both were immediately on tip toes, tails quivering and ears alert. They looked fantastic! When they started spinning on the end of the leads Mrs Delmar controlled the situation by moving the bitches in the line up so we were then seperated by other bitches. Ruby and Lily then took challenge and reserve. A quivering terrier on tip toes looks much more "terrierish" than a chilled out terrier. Ruby is quite chilled for a terrier and unless Lily is around, she's incredibly hard to fire up. She's quite happy in the ring, she's just chilled out! And it's lost her classes in show at terrier specialty (judge came and told us later). A Finnish judge has non-awarded as she just too chilled. ETA: Trisven, I would love the judges to see Ruby when she's seen a possum!
  12. See I wouldn't call that sparring? Just being bloody rude!
  13. Good luck to everyone going back tomorrow. I will be there with the puppy Aussie.
  14. It wasn't sparring but recall, Lyndsay, at the Adelaide Royal when Cathy Delmar was pleased when Ruby and her littermate (?? can't remember now) got all boisterous at each other. I think some people believe sparring = fighting and it's not. This description from a westie site best describes it: I'd actually forgotten about the royal Sheridan! Sparring has happened here are normal shows. Lily is Ruby's 1/2 sister, both are Ned daughters.
  15. I have only done a handfull of Adelaide Royals but I love it too. I have had sticky fingers but I only put my girls out on display when they are done in the ring for the day or with plenty of time for grooming. I have had kids rush up and hug a dog sitting on the floor, I have had people mess up Ruby's face when I have just gotten it right (but then I've had showies do this at normal shows too without realising). I make sure my girls get a break and find it a great way to educate the public about my breed but this incident with Harry is going to be on my mind from now on. On Sunday I had a baby entered and she would have been incredibly easy to walk off with. We luckily had plenty of people with us and could have a handler, a holder and someone sitting with our gear and I ended up watching a friend's dogs for part of the day too. I agree with more passes per entry. I wouldn't have an issue with keeping the public out of the benching areas if we could have breed stands on display. Getting through the public to the exhibition area is sometimes impossible - a friend asked some people in her way to please move as she needed to get to the ring and got an incredibly rude reply. The public don't understand that the dogs are there to be shown and are not just there for them to pat and gawk at. I found that this year plenty of people asked before touching my dogs but I had a bench on the end and the number of times adults leant over to pat my bitch without asking was incredible! I was sitting facing the other way until I realised what was happening and had to angle my chair to make sure I could keep an eye on this. I love the Royal but there are issues and I don't have the answer.
  16. I have only seen terrier specialists spar some breeds on (I think) two occasions. I have shown in the terrier ring for around 3 years. We haven't had it happen at breed level although we may spin the dog/bitch in front around to face the one behind on our own accord when more than one dog is in the ring on the stack. I have seen it occur in Foxies at breed level. I don't have an issue with sparring if the breeds are similar size and have temperaments that means they should spar, I wouldn't like to see it between non-sparring breeds and a sparring breed.
  17. I can't imagine Kylie leaving her babies unattended, I have heard she asked someone else to watch them while she toiletted another.
  18. Yeah he was in the cage, the scumbag reached across the barrier, opened the cage and took him. That's what is being reported and what everyone is saying. Kylie was taking another dog to the toilet and it appears she asked someone to watch her dogs when it happened.
  19. They should have seen Harry in the ring! Kylies dogs love being in there.
  20. Me too At least Chris Brown tried to make it serious Yeah for once he said the right things! I can't believe they thought it was funny. He is someone's family member.
  21. I was thinking about just writing back: "Are you interested in an Irish Terrier? Our contact number is ......" and leaving it at that.
  22. Border Terrier BOB: Gr Ch Craigend Finnish Future RUBOB and BCC: Ch Hilbren Bonnie Lass
  23. Before the reward was offered the story was that Harry was worth $5000. I wouldn't be surprised if he was worth that. But I do think that it's more important that they report the reward than what he is worth - and I'm sure he's worth more than that to the Sunmans anyway.
