  1. Thank you! Now to make sure we have everything we need...
  2. Ruby is pregnant, confirmed today by ultrasound. Vet thinks at least six, possibly 7 or 8. :D
  3. You get up at 5am both days of the weekend in for some sort of doggy activity. ETA: Most/every weekend. The dog sleeps IN the bed with it's head on the pillow. You spend more money on vet visits and health testing than you do on your own health. Your dog has more brushes (and they are more expensive) than you do. Your car is bought for its suitability for transporting the dogs over anything else. ETA: You travel over an hour to see a certain vet because he/she is better than your local.
  4. Ruby at one week (excuse the fuzz) Compared to today with less than a month to go... Where's her topline gone? :D Ultrasound Monday.
  5. Why don't you have a read of this: http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/breeding/breeder2.html There are so many things that can go wrong, breeders who have been breeding for years lose their bitches and they know what they are doing! It isn't easy. When people are saying "health testing" they aren't talking about a vet saying "yes she's healthy" they are talking about things like DNA tests for hereditary conditions which can cost several hundred dollars just for one test, Poms may have several (I don't know the breed). Are you able to take time off work when the bitch is due to whelp? You can't just leave her alone to do it on her own, and you should probably have time off when they are really little (especially if they need hand raising) and then when they are closer to going to their new homes they will need you to feed them multiple times a day and may have people wanting to come into your home to meet the pups and the mother? What about the heartbreak of losing the whole litter to parvo? What if your girl doesn't want to be mated and you have to hold her still so the male can mate her while she screams in protest? The homes that might be interested in pups now often go quiet when they are faced with a real puppy. And does a Pom suit them all? It would be up to YOU to make sure every single pup is in a home which can cater to its needs.
  6. Some of the main things with the Irish: - Less black in the coat: Black shading highly undesirable - Size is only listed as "ideal" but I would like to see more correct size Irish. And I don't like seeing massive bone on the Aussie Shepherds. Bone should be moderate.
  7. One set here, Ruby is in Mum's name and Holly and Bree in both the breeder's and mine.
  8. The Dog Shop has these at SACA park with rainbow fluro through them. Very pretty but I don't use check chains except very thin ones in the show ring and these were WAY too think for my guys.
  9. My post is straight from Tina Sunman's facebook page!
  10. "Harry is very very skinny, Some peole though it was him and told the police and the people that had him have been charged! Kylie went to pick Harry up and he was so happy he was barking and hawling to see her! "
  11. We get that all the time with Maizie, "Look it's blind in one eye" Nooooooo it's just a blue eye...
  12. Australian Shepherds DOG CC and BEST OF BREED - AUST CH Sarasota Urban Legend HT (Also pulled out for final Best in Group cut) Res DCC and Runner Up Best Of Breed - Dreamoz Inaugural Boy - Also his class in Group Bitch CC AUST CH Ripkurle Between The Sheets RES BCC - Dashas Just Crusing Along (Imp NZ) RDCC and BCC are both sired by the BOB winner from seperate litters, I should have had my Scam kid there!
  13. The Aussie one has lots of "some are this while others are the opposite", how confusing! I also don't agree with their statements on the Mini Aussies but each to their own... The Irish I don't agree with a whole lot... I have met one Irish like this, perhaps it runs in lines but the lines I know are more than happy to get cuddles with complete strangers. Yes they are great watch dogs but happy to have cuddles and smooches with strangers on the street and in their own homes. It also says: I've never met one that digs at all. Jumpers and chasers, yes! Perhaps other lines do. And another: They don't need nearly as much one on one time as the Aussie Sheps do, they are alot more independant and happy to do their own thing.
  14. Do they want a breed that is easy to train? Do they want something with a good recall ability with some training? Some breeds of terriers might suit, some are light shedders and they might like the look if they like your schnauzer. They make good watch dogs and if you pick the right breed they would be happy to go jogging. This depends on if you think they would be strong enough for a terrier temp though? The Dalmatians I know wouldn't cope in that situation, they would be destroying things in no time. I know some DOLers have more laid back Dals than what I am used to though.
  15. Thanks to everyone involved in helping getting these results to all of us, much appreciated. Well done to all the winners and everyone who made it to gen specials day, not always easy at Royals!
  16. We have a very chilled out, mellow bitch here so fingers crossed! She used to be ball mad and more than happy to rough and tumble with Holly but now she's got a very "whatever" attitude and is keeping well out of the rough stuff. She's so calm, where has our red devil gone?
  17. Well done Mo for BOB and shortlisted for group. Can't wait to give him cuddles when he comes home!
  18. Go the Standard Long Dachie! Fingers crossed for Mo Man!
  19. Oh Flick that's terrible. Healing thoughts heading his way. Hugs your way too.
  20. ;) This bitch it from Tuscamada's first Tibbie litter. Congrats to everyone involved!
  21. I think the term "Puppy Factory" is the best I have heard, more the reality than a "farm".
  22. Well done but... I agree with this! And often seeing the sire of a litter is difficult if he's interstate/overseas. But otherwise I thought it was well done.
