  1. Look at the fat little belly!!!!!!
  2. We get the same with Grace and Ruby, although older English or Irish people tend to know exactly what they are and love to say hello. It's often the Aussies that catch people's eye though, especially the merles. Yeah we get a lot of older English / Scottish folk who know the breed, or people who have recently travelledto that area. Th closest anyone has come to recognizing Nessa is "is that some kind of Collie?" I don't think any non-dog person has picked the breed. Had one guy though who absolutely fell in love with her and thought she was the most amazing thing he had ever seen- promised to go home and research the breed etc. Quite a few kids recognize the Borders as 'the dog from Good Boy' lol but don't know the breed. Have also found that walking the Borders in pairs or all 3 together makes people stop and ask about them. I guess if there is more than one they stand out more. Some kids recognise Ruby as the dog from Firehouse Dog but again don't know the breed. The movie didn't do very well so not many people have seen it. That's how Mum and Dad first became interested in them. How he describes them is pretty spot on. They are ;) not that I'm biased Well suited to Australian families, too. There aren't many homes they wouldn't be happy in. I love Border Terriers, have for as long as I can remember. Have tried talking OH into getting one in the future but he is not so keen, he wants a bulldog and seeing as I got to have another Dobe I suppose it's only fair to let him. I'll wear him down eventually, might take a while though. My baby girl is OBSESSED with Dobes lol. She thinks they are the most awesomest friends to play with. My first 'own' dog was a Dobe x and my first Border grew up with her whatever breed you get, a Border will love lol. Saw a Dobe walking down the street last week Gracie is pretty good with bringing other dogs into our home but can be a little over excited/reactive with other small terriers out and about! She's a very easy going dog within the 'pack' though and never causes any issues. She's happy to be on the bottom. Only issue we have had with Gracie is her digging out. The yard is fortified and she now lives inside when we aren't home but a couple of days ago the little rat managed to push the poles holding the wire down away from the fence, rip the wire and dig under the fence to try and get the neighbours new chooks. She managed to do so in less than 90mins as that's all she had been outside for and the ground was rock hard. This is with a few issues with her rear legs/knees. She's determined. So anyone want a 5 year old Border Terrier?
  3. Puppy pile @ 2 weeks old The one facing the camera is the red merle boy we are hoping to keep, he already has a name, Rory!

  5. Congrats Lappiemum, can't wait to see pics. Saw Holly's little muchkins today and they are so big!
  6. Just heard that the three with the eye infection have opened their eyes today which is good news.
  7. The breeder has put some up in the Aussie thread but I'm going up tomorrow so will get some for you! They are growing well and Holly is being a good Mummy but they have picked up eye infections, been to the vets for AB shot but their eyes are still closed so not a whole lot we can do. We just have to hope they open their eyes very soon (they are 2 weeks tomorrow so shouldn't be too long but Aussies tend to open their eyes later than other breeds).
  8. Being with people as mad about their dogs as I am about mine Making some fantastic new friends, both here and interstate Seeing different breeds and learning about them, and getting cuddles Handling some amazing dogs Seeing lovely examples of my own breed and others Talking and learning more about my breed with those much more knowledgable than I am ETA: Learning more about grooming and getting it right with each different dog Learning more about the faults and values in my own dogs Being a team with my dog in the ring, I love showing my girls! A baby's first show, be it my own or someone elses! Showing my girls off When my girls show their butts off, win or lose
  9. Congrats on the babies dunnwarren! Hope Kimba starts eating better soon. Holly thought that under the bed was the best spot too lappiemum!
  10. New people stuffing up is completely different to those who have been around forever holding everyone else up due to their own self importance! I would be more than happy for new people to set up in my gazebo if I have asked them and I have done so on a couple of occasions and a new DOLer who is hopefully getting into showing next year already knows she is welcome to camp with us! I wouldn't really like anyone assuming they could camp in with us though and taking us for granted. Re the peeing thing, it's just about keeping an eye on your dog, it's not hard to keep them from pissing on everything. I've only been showing for a few years now but have found the majority of people fantastic and willing to help out, especially once you show you aren't going to ditch the hobby after a couple of shows (which does happen a bit). I have had so many wonderful people help me out, in my own breed and in others and have made more friends through dog showing than almost any other hobby or aspect of my life. We stuffed up heaps, it's about learning and if you are open to learn and take on board everything then people are generally pretty good and pretty patient.
  11. Someone coming up to you and bitching or being rude about one of your friends. Another for people letting their males piss on others belongings. Know it alls who tell you those more experienced how to breed and what to breed! Happened recently to a friend and OMG if it was me in her position I would tell them to stuff it. People who show sick dogs. Thankfully the good people outweigh the crappy ones!
  12. Very cute, shiney bubs! Secret is just doing a good job of it!
  13. Huge congrats SBT101!!!! What cuties.
  14. I think Smooths are a fantastic breed which are very underated.
  15. What does she think should happen? Ruby had a lot of fun when sent off for prostitution, the stud dog owner said she's never seen a bitch soooooo happy after a mating!
  16. omg how funny..... well when you gotta go you just cant wait Holly did that at the Royal 2009 on Sunday Specials day, she had taken 3rd place in puppy bitch from a huge class and we were in for SA Bred bitch, she was 1/2 way through her triangle and smack bang in the middle of the ring with a huge crowd when she pooped, went for AGES too. Judge didn't care too much and gave her another 3rd in a big class! I could have died.
  17. I love Sohvi and her colour! She got puppy of breed at the Adelaide Royal didn't she?
  18. They are so cute! Congrats on the babies and I'm sorry about the girl.
  19. This is not poisoning. Soap (or some other liquid people mentioned here) merely blocks their airways and they start to suffocate. That's when they get loose and can be safely removed. Blocking their airways still stresses them, resulting in them pumping more poison into their host.
  20. One thing I really love about Aussies is the range of colours we can get and even the same colour (eg red merle) can be marked so differently. The bitch with the tail has a much darker background than the other two merles and this litter had such a range in white markings. That's the boy we have our eye on. ;) Can't wait to see Whippet bubs! Glad the little man is doing ok, bugger about Mum! ;)
  21. Pics of fatty bubbas from Monday.
  22. We did that a few days before Holly's bubs were due and it was awesome to hear the little heart beat! :D Yesterday the smallest in Holly's litter passed away. She sooked alot since she was born but the rest all seem happy and content.
  23. Huge congrats to you Missymoo, bet they are cute as puppies! I'm very proud of my girl and happy to see her switch from a spoilt pet to a mother so easily, it's so awesome how they just naturally know. She's so proud of them and if I pick one up she comes out and stares at me until I pop them back.
