  1. Oh thank god I'm not the only one that has done it, I was sooooo angry with myself I certainly won't be making that mistake again I've done that (recently too) and a friend did a couple of weekends ago!
  2. This is what we did with our two pregnant girls as we are within town limits and while we have a bit of land they only really use it when we throw the ball and that ends up in body slams and faceplants! We ended up with one bitch losing the litter, suspected herpes and the other having a healthy, happy litter. 2nd bitch whelped at her breeders, 1st bitch had an emergency c-section and all pups had been dead for several weeks. ETA: I won't take a mated/suspected pregnant bitch to a dog show or where there is a high chance of other dog activity.
  3. Yes I agree with this. I have terriers and would never clip them but strip them. The double coat is designed to be a temperature control unit. Clipping it destroys the temp control (so I have been told by die hard terrier men). I agree. Stripping the Cairn out would be a better option, I think.
  4. Good luck Enigma. Do you have people to help you out?
  5. How incredibly sad that a few precious exhibitors have made a bad name for SA shows. I've never experienced anything mentioned when setting up near ring 2 or ring 5. Sure some people set up in the same spots each show but no one cracks the shits when someone else gets in before them, and I've set up both ring side and back along the fence lines numerous times. I have set up in a well known exhibitor's spot near ring 1 and they weren't rude about it but asked if we could turn our gazebo so it took a little less room, and fair enough. I agree with rotating the rings! Probably because group 5 is always the furthest from the toilets, canteen, office and shop and has little shade compared to ring 1 or along the road near 3 and 4. And almost everyone I have spoken to in SA thinks the paid gazebo spot is rediculous! Way to push out the new people and those on a pension who may not be able to afford a nice spot. ETA: Not saying it doesn't happen but it hasn't happened in the rings I have set up around to me or friends.
  6. They are all so cute! Glad to hear your sick one made it through Lappiemum, how scary! Off to see Holly and her grublets tomorrow.
  7. Dark green discharge before a pup is a bad thing, is it like mucus green?
  8. Ruby remembers her breeder even when we don't see her for months. :D Holly's breeder gets the BIGGEST bum wiggles even if Holly hasn't seen her in weeks. She will remember you!
  9. No suggestions but sending eating vibes Beanies way.
  10. Very cute! And WA is getting one! How exciting, her younger sister is a good friend of mine, we were besties through high school. I am so excited she's getting into showing and with a Lappie too! And her pup will be close in age to Rory, we will have to sort out play dates. Holly's favourite thing in the whole world is a ball or toy. They are much more important than babies. ;) She's being an ok mother and the babies are doing very well but she's not the most attentive and is easily distracted! She certainly looks ready to come home, too bad she's stuck there for another 4 weeks! We wormed them today, no idea how the breeder does it on her own! Certainly a 2 person job. We also got first stacked pictures of them today and it looks like a very even litter at this stage.
  11. I think Holly is over being a mother... They are looking like little dogs now instead of guinea pigs!
  12. Congratulations! Off to see Holly and her grublets now!
  13. All ours adore apple, it's used as a training treat on occasions. They also love watermelon, rockmelon, pineapple (including the peel). Poppy eats lettuce too. Our dogs also have funny things they don't like. Gracie HATES egg. Maizie won't eat some things with certain texture, like a french fry or a chicken nugget!
  14. I agree with Willow. With the jogger, he may have been terrified of dogs, or attacked by one previously. He has a right to jog without being harassed by someone elses dog. It may look like your dog wanted to play to someone experienced with dogs but could quite easily be taken for aggression by someone who isn't dog savvy.
  15. Our dogs (terriers and medium working dogs) are home on their own from 8:30am to about 4:30pm. They don't get walked in the mornings or special attentions/games/training but they are with us while we get ready to leave for work. When we get home we spend 1-2 hours with them, playing, throwing the ball, grooming, patting. This tends to be combined with our after work/uni coffee and chat that Mum, Dad and I do which usually is outside weather permitting. They then get 45min-1hr walk. ETA: At night after dinner I find I spend the most quality time with my girls (Aussies and Poppy) as they are inside in my room with me, having cuddles or playing with toys. They are outside when we aren't home on a reasonable size block but none of them use the space much, they seem to sleep all day except the morning and afternoons judging by what they do on our days at home. When we are home we are with them, they are inside with us or if we are outside they are too. They get extra time spent with them throwing the ball and playing.
  16. Maizie the bitch that I co own with her breeder is about 3/4 the same breeding as Holly's litter (Maizie is 1/2 sis to Holly and the sire for this litter is Maizie's sire) and last night she went Best in Group (my first with my own dog) so hopefully the keeper from this litter is as nice!
  17. Happy to do what I can but once uni goes back I'm a bit limited on time.

    Help

Your friend should try their bitch's breeder for advice too, they should know the breed and the lines and are (hopefully) more experienced. The breeder of the male dog is another option for advice.
  19. Holly's pups have started getting out of the whelping box! Two decided today was the day to go on adventures.
  20. I've read the same on a news site but not sure which one now.
  21. So go to Williamstown from Mt Pleasant don't go to Birdwood? The roads are good?? The roads are good, not sure on the Lyndoch/Tanunda end but the rest are decent. There's no need to go through Birdwood to get from Mt Pleasant to Williamstown, there's a road from Mt P to WT that would be quicker than going down to Birdwood then across to Williamstown.
  22. Yep agree with the other's directions. :D Hopefully I will get to meet you. Still not 100% sure if I can do these shows yet or not.
  23. We had a bitch pick up a 17 point BOB and her title then went on to get 3rd in a class of 3 the next weekend.
