That's because Peach is a Twinny and they are just awesome. Can't wait to see your baby in the ring Cate!

I'll put my hand up and say this is one of my bitches (passed puppy eye test but DNA affected, no obvious signs). I'm sure there are others (tested and untested) too, but many don't make it public. Same as HC affected dogs in the ring, I've heard about plenty! I'd rather DNA test and know what I have than stick my head in the sand. I show because I enjoy it and it's the best way for me to learn. I learn more about the breed at shows and talking to breeders and other showies (within my breed and others) at shows than reading about them. If I wasn't showing I wouldn't be getting up at 5am to spend my day talking about lines, faults and conformation. By showing said bitch I am improving my understanding of the breed and structure, which will (eventually) make me a better breeder. I don't plan on breeding any time soon, I'm happy to sit back, show my girls and learn as much as I can. My bitch's success in the ring meant another DOLer became interested in her lines and ended up taking a bitch pup from my girl's dam (after DNA testing her and breeding to a DNA clear dog), that bitch is CEA clear (as well as for everything else) and has been just as, if not more successful than my girl. She will be bred from with the aim to improve the breed. Had it not been for my girl in the ring, she would have been pet homed and never bred from. I wouldn't show a desexed bitch as it is against the rules. But it isn't against the rules to show my girl, so I will continue to do so and learn as I do it. It doesn't give her an advantage in the ring (that a desexed bitch can have due to coat, no seasons) and everyone in my state who show know her DNA status. ETA: Her DNA status was also put on an Australian breed specific email list so many interstate breeders also know.

Lyndsay - were you the aussie person who got one of the class in groups? I got open in group with a friend's gorgeous blue merle boy on the NYE show.

Was a lovely evening!

Doesn't feel even close to 40 here in the hills, the wind isn't the hot northerly it was this morning either. Fingers crossed it's cooler at Gawler than forcasted.

that sucks!!! It was sooo squishy and hot with us all crammed onto the soccer pitch the other week. I know the change is coming in early (temperature already dropped here at my place) but still... Why do we have to be squished? And that was 6 rings last time, not 7 - how they going to fit that all in. grrrrrrr Great and I won't be able to set up until about 6 as have to bath dogs when get home from work. Yeah we aren't getting there until about 6pm too. Would be nice to know these things before entering perhaps!

Pork Pies Or Lies The General Public Tell Us

Aussies have been in Aust for a bit over 20 years now but I still get told by 40+ year olds that they had one as a kid or so-and-so had one. I think they must have meant Coolies... Even after explaining the differences between the two breeds. -
How'd they fit 7 rings in there? Geez nice and squeezy much.

Recently we got our SAE back the Monday after the shows.

Babies aren't used to "all the stuff that goes on" and a hat may be intimidating, same as large floppy jackets. I won't wear a hat because I can't find one that fits my head and doesn't look completely daggy! Sunscreen for the few minutes I'm in the ring. But each to their own. I'd rather put extra sunscreen on than risk a hat getting in my face/eyes or flying off at the wrong moment.

My neighbour has bred Borzoi for a number of years but has been unable to show for a few years due to ill health so I have found myself handling them for her at shows, it has been a steep learning curve but I am having fun but I think it must be hard having a novice handler as each week I seem to do something wrong in the ring I do something wrong each time too. I will keep an eye out for you.
-
Robbi I didn't realise you showed Borzoi, I handle LH Dachs occasionally so have probably seen you around. I am handling a friend's Aussie so will at least get my Aussie show fix! Showdog, wish Perth had kept it! 43 is just nuts!!!!

That Maizie is blind in her blue eye. Aussies are Coolies (farmers are the worst at this). We chopped their tails off. Both my dogs clean themselves to some extent, moreso our Aussie. She'll also clean any other dog that she deems dirty Holly and Maizie are the same. -
Yuck is all I can say! Why did summer pick now to make it's appearance??? It will still be around 40 at Gawler when the Aussies go in the ring, and even hotter when I'm grooming so they aren't coming, think we will head over later just for Ruby. At least the next day is only supposed to be 30 degrees.

Junior Kennel Club of SA is talking about having the class at our next show near the end of next year, myself and someone else on the commitee are very very keen on running the neuter class.

Rory - Tuscamada Lilbit of a Legend (out of my own gorgeous girl Holly)

We'll make sure you do!

Flat collar for Gracie, cloth martingale for Pop and limited slip for Ruby (so she can't back out of it) and for Holly because I found a gorgeous set that I just had to have and it was a limited slip, and it's easy to put on/off plus it seems nice to her coat. Everyone up here walks their dogs on a flat or check chains, or no lead.

2010 was better than expected! Titled three Aussies. Maizie has been the star for 2010:Titled (which was unexpected this year) at only 14 months of age with a 17 point BOB and 10 large challenges. She's picked up a bunch more challenges and BOBs since then and is nearly on 200 points. At 11 months she took out Puppy in Group at the Adelaide Royal and then the first BEST IN GROUP I've ever picked up with one of my own/co-owned dogs at 14 months of age. Numerous puppy and junior in groups. ;) Holly had her first (and likely only) litter and managed to listen and pop out exactly what we wanted. Ruby lost her litter and needed a c-section to remove the dead pups. :p Aims for 2011: Get Holly's baby in the ring and have fun with him. Pick up a challenge with Bree (I can dream :D ) Possibly try again with Ruby and hopefully have a successful litter this time. Another BIG with Maizie would be fun! ;)

I hope Adelaide is one of them!

Sounds good. :D I hope you get lots of lovely bubs and more luck with your first litter than ours!

Everyone is getting Finnish Lapphunds lately but really they are too big, any chance of a mini/teacup version? Will need it for Christmas so I can show it off to the family and to keep the numerous little cousins entertained all day. But it needs to be 4 to 6 weeks old, they bond so much better when they aren't OLD when they come home.
-
Oooo fingers crossed for a tri!
-
Fingers crossed for some gorgeous Paps! What colours will you be expecting? Any blacks in there for me?

Has anyone had one turn up that seems even close to reality yet?
