They only give you about 60 seconds, to perform. It has to be something that an audience can easily see. What happened with the DOL' ers at auditions?

Australia's Got Talent are hassling me to go on their show, but only gave me a weeks notice so I have declined it. What I need is some help with making up a dog act. Last time I was on the show they said it was just a string of dog tricks, so I need something a bit more professional. But don't really have many ideas. Moses knows heaps of tricks. But don't know which ones to choose or how to string them together. They are still desperate for a dog act as they don't have any. If you are interested contact them. They are not after a doggy dancing routine as it has been done before. If you do a search on youtube for Moses Nova Scotia - it should bring up all his videos and what tricks he can do. He can do all the simple tricks, plus taking someone's sock off and bringing it to me, me sneezing and him running up to someone and pulling a towel out of their pocket, jumping off my stomach and over my head, opening and closing doors and drawers etc.

I am a bit too busy at the moment to contact Damien, but anyone else is welcome too. I am preparing for a trip to Bali.

I can provide accomodation in Melbourne if he needs it, there are plenty of ovals around in Melbourne and also KCC Park has a huge area out the back. Berwick Obedience Dog Club has two fenced in areas as well as two other ovals, heaps of space. I think Berwick Obedience Dog Club would be the best venue, due to having two high fenced areas.

My husband was going for CK to win. Really appreciated the time given to me, when I was asking the questions about disc dogs. I know that everyone was under pressure etc,.

I think any breed can dock dive. I read somewhere that the record was a greyhound cross? You just have to wait until it comes to Victoria, if it does.

To find out about clicker go to http://www.k9events.com Australian based site. Equipment : clicker, treats (chicken chunkers from Coles work great, cheese, liver etc) Set of Quoit (can be purchased from toy stores) If your dog is size of border collie or larger, you may need to put a hole in the plastic part, and fill with sand so the dog does not knock it over. Step 1 go to http://www.shirleychong.com/keepers/retrieve.html and follow steps 1 to 17, take your time and don't rush the dog, make sure you meet the criteria for a step before moving to the next step. Instead of a dumbell you are going to use a coloured plastic quoit. Step 2 You will be kneeling down next to the pole, You are going to click and treat the dog for raising the quoit to the height of the pole, keep on doing this step until the dog gets it right 10 times. Step 3 You are now going to click and treat for the hoop being placed near the top of the pole, so the dog may not get the hoop on the pole but will get it very close. keep on doing this step until the dog gets it right 10 times. Step 4 You are now going to wait for the dog to get the hoop on the pole, keep on doing this step until the dog gets it right 10 times. Big jackpot of food when the dog gets it right. Now add the command. I use the word "dump" because he is dumping the hoop onto the pole. Advanced You are now working on distance, gradually moving further away from the pole, my dog kept wanting to give the hoop to me. Once you get distance, you may want to throw the hoop further away from the pole, once you get this you may throw multiple hoops, and reward the dog when he puts two or three hoops on the pole. My dog took a while to get this, and I actually took a break from it for about a month and came back to it and he got it. Moses actually developed a technique for this. It is quite hard for the dog and takes concentration, he has to work out how to handle the hoop in his mouth, how to line up with the pole and how to drop it on the pole. That was Moses, Josh had his turn yesterday. Moses was a bit disappointing, but then I thought well the crowd loves it and I can be the clown. I had someone shaking my hand afterwards, and they said the video showed his jowels going in and out as if he was saying "but the water is too cold, " this is what happens when you have a dog that thinks too much. ) I also know that audience always loves to see the dogs stuffing up. They also love seeing a dog thinking. Moses is a dog who loves to rort the system. Yesterday a dog disgraced itself during agility, and the audience loved it.

I was talking to the canine disc dog people at the world dog games, they told me they actually run training clinics. The president of the club is Damian Noud, was thinking about perhaps contacting him if enough interest and getting him to run a clinic in Victoria. Was also thinking this would be an easy sport to introduce in dogs clubs as all you need is the outlay for a frisbee. What I was surprised about in this sport, is that the dog does not have to jump really high and catch the frisbee, it can just run along on the ground and catch the frisbee, had a quick little go with Tia, and she managed to catch one 15 ft away. www.frisbeedogs.asn.au

Josh went okay, but came up lame on Sunday, so took him home and gave Moses a go. Moses went pretty good in training but decided when there was an audience that he would use the ramp instead. The crowd loved the comic relief. Then I found a tick on Moses's eye lid and quickly went to the vet on site at the games to get it out. I am thinking of becoming involved in the disc dog and had a quick little go with Tia and she caught a disc in the air from 15 feet away after a few goes. So was very happy with that for a start. I think it is something that Victoria could easily get involved with very cheap to set up. Dogs don't have to jump really high in the air either, they can catch the disc with all 4 feet on the ground and still earn points.

I liked the flyball as well, loved watching my dogs relatives doing their runs. The choc and white border collies. Nearly motivates me to get back into it again.

I am absolutely exhausted, we finished at 8.00pm on Friday night and had a 6.00am start tomorrow. I'll let the owner of the reluctant GSP tell their story.

Ok quizzed the US trainers about dock dogs and titles etc. This is how it works, there are a few divisions and which division you go into depends on how far your dog can jump. There is Beginner Division for dogs that jump under 10 ft. Junior Division for 10 ft - 14"9. Senior Division 14"9 etc, and other divisions. You compete against dogs in your own division and are placed accordingly. Now just say your dogs stuffs up and it jumps only 2ft in one heat (they call them waves) then the next heat they jump 12 ft. You then get a leg in Begginers and one in Juniors division. Once your dog has jumped 5 in a row say Junior Division you then get that title. So if the dock dogs was a competition that was ANKC registered, this weekend then Josh would have got his Junior title. But Josh being 8 mainly only jumps between 9 feet and 14 feet, so I would never expect him to get a senior title. In this way I think I would just get his junior title and then give it away. They have had a jack russell jump 21 feet! I think this could be a draw back of the sport.

I love watching the dogs different styles. Some dogs seem to move their paws in mid air, some lift their toy right out of the water, some seem to skim their butt along the top of the water and some even catch their toy.

I found a way of getting my dogs to do the jump, is to first get the dog excited about retrieving on land, then get them excited about retrieving in water. Then get them pumped about retrieving in water, and go to a very small bank and have the dog a long way away, then the dog is running so fast, that they don't put the brakes on in time and jump in. Helps if there is no other way to go in.
