  1. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is true that puppies over 6 months can have small amounts of skim milk?? I don't want to give it to him unitl I am sure. Any info would be appreciated
  2. Yeah you just give them the whole thing. I gave my pup one yesterday and he loves it. H hasn't been able to destroy it yet either Hehehehe Finally I have won
  3. Just wondering if you are still looking for something for your pup to chew. I started another post on here and it was suggested to get a coconut. I asked the vet and they said that as long as it wasn't 3 or 4 per day to wouldn't be a problem for them to eat the whole thing but she also doesn't think they woudl get through one at all. Hope this helps
  4. Ok Then will see you there. Should we bring pup or leave him home??? He is in a fear period at the moment and is scared of other dogs dont know whether it would be better to leave him home.
  5. I dont know if what I am doing is right but I feed my BC x Kelpie (6mth old) Kennel Mince (chicken, beef, turkey, lamb and pork mix), rice and vegies. I also break and egg over it twice a week. He gets bones and chicken necks and dry food (will not drink with milk on it). Don't know if thats any help but goodluck. Oh and he also gets one tin of Pedigree once a week (for variety)
  6. Kermat your beagles are adorable I am going to clark rubber to get one on friday so if you get yours before hand them please let me know how it goes
  7. Maverick is it on Saturday and Sunday cause we have to go to Sydney on Saturday but would love to come on Sunday??
  8. Ok I have checked with the vet (who gave me a lecture on bored puppies) and she said it is fine as long as they don't eat 3 or 4 whole coconuts a day. She said it would take them ages to go through but a persistant dog could get through 3 or 4 a day and this MAY cause stomach upsets. I am off to get one now the are around $2.90 each in coles Kamuzz the mats come is various sizes and the large was around $39 but it was too big to fit in my kennel. They didnt have any other sizes but they also had dog bean bags $59 (not including beans) these were also said to be chew proof but by the time you added the beans it seemed a bit dear.
  9. Will let you know tomorrow Pandii
  10. I have an old baby blanket of the kids that he sleeps on on the kids sofa and he hasn't chewed this yet I can't see it doing harm as it is natural but will check with vet tomorrow. Can buy ones without fur or skin though. He hasn't gotten that far with it yet
  11. Thanks for the great ideas. I have found Clark rubber sell a pet mat that is apparently chew proof?? At the moment he is sleeping inside at night on a child's fold out lounge and has a mat in his kennel for the day. He seems to be ok with this but I have ordered in a chew proof mat (see how well it works) as he is now thinking he would rather sleep on our bed(or the kids) so might have to be put out at night now. Will let you know if he doesn't destroy it P.S. He loved the coconut and hasn't got through it yet!!!
  12. Will definately ring on Monday. Hope he copes alright as he is in a real fear period at the moment. Looking forward to meeting you guys. Can't wait to start.
  13. Cool..... I will try ringing them on Monday then. What level should he start in??
  14. Hi Skip there is one at Wallerawang that I got off the ADAA site. I have spoken to the other person who goes to your too. Sounds like the place to go. There was also one in Kelso but I don't know anyone who goes there. We have to go to Sydeny next weekend but I was wondering if there is anything on this weekend??? If not I will make sure I get to the next date. Can't wait to go and my son is soooo excited. Hopefully meet you there
  15. Feralpup...............I will check it out thanks. I would prefer to do the agility and I think being bc x kelpie it would suit him better. Thanks for all your info. I think I have found a club near me so I will ring tomorrow and take son this weekend and if looks good will take pup next weekend. Might see you at a trial one day
  16. Hi Poodlefan.... Yes that is how I thought it would run (in regards to my son) realsitically I just want him to watch so he could practice at home and when he is older he could then take over as he really wants to do it himself (now but I also agree that he is any where near old enough). He coped at puppy preschool surprisingly well and I think he would at training too (He is a changed child). I think I will take him this weekend and have a chat to the trainers and let them explain it to him (and me) and let him see what it is all about. It is just so strange to hear a child who was pertified of dogs 7 weeks ago beg and plead to take his puppy training. It has been an unbelieveable turn around. Thanks for the info on what each are I am not good with horses but I get your meaning. I think he would be much better at agility as he likes jumping obstacles (ie Ethans school bag that was in the hall when playing fetch)
  17. Fabulous thanks Skip. Do you have a number for the school??? I think someone else from here also goes there. Is it the one near Waramboll or something like that?? Do you know when the next training/ meeting is??? Would love to take my son first so he could see what it is about and what is done (he is also scared of dogs except his) PS Google "agility" and all the info can be found. Although somebody here will maybe have good links? Will do thanks
  18. Thanks feralpup. I will To be a nusicence what do you love about agility??? (sorry just after some ideas on what each one is)
  19. I was wondering if some people who currently do obedience, agility and anything else could give me some idea of what is done in each as I am knew to this and dont know what would suit him best or the best combination of them.
  20. I agree with KitKat. This is the same way I taught my pup this as he was snatching from my kids but not us. He soon learnt if he nipped there was no treat if he was gentle he got it. Good Luck
  21. The link said there is 2 clubs in Bathurst (Thanks kelpiechick). I will ring them and see what they say. Thanks for the info though. My son is only 6 so I didnt know if they would let him. Lear is only 6 months and is a fear stage at the moment so I was wondering if it would be better to leave him for another month or start him now (has been 4 weeks since dropping out of puppy preschool due to him having really bad fear issues and I didn't want him to hurt the 7 week old babies there. I think he is quite intelligent as in the 6 weeks we have had him he has learnt to come, sit, drop, stay, shake and roll over. This is probably not all that unnormal but I think he's smart (and cute) Thanks
  22. My son really wants to take our pup to obedience and agility training as he saw some dogs working in a park last weekend. I think the pup would be quite good at agility but I dont know how young they should start. He is a border collie x kelpie and very active. Also how old do kids have to be before they can be the handler?? Any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks
  23. Great ideas I would never have thought of a coconut. The skin wont hurt him if he eats it will it??? Guess not as it is all natural. As for the bedding I guess he will just have it at night. His kennel is fairly good and it is under a pergola next to the shed so it is fairly sheltered just that it is supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow. Not used to having a dog that prefers outside. All my others have been inside dogs. Has anyone else used the coconuts??? Do you just give it to them whole??
  24. My Axolotyl. He is gorgeous too I will definately try the polar fleece as i have the kids old ones and he can have them. Hope he doesn't chew them to bits
  25. Maybe more raw bones to chew and tough toys like the chewable Kongs stuffed with peanut butter or treats. Yeah he gets 1 bone every two days so will look into KONGS (looked once but they were expensive). Hopeful I will save on balls etc though. My bigger dog has a "Texas T-Bone" one of those designed-to-be-chewed type things and loves it. Can I sound silly but What is a Texas T-Bone??? Thanks heaps
