Cop Accused Of Cruelty After Taking Two Shots To Kill Kangaroo
Dracdog replied to Steve's topic in In The News
Dr Wirth needs to wake up and smell the coffee. The cop did the right thing. So what if it took 2 shots it is not as if he shot it once walked away and came back an hour later and shot it again. It would have been 2 quick taps. It would have been cruel to just leave it there waiting for someone else to come and assess the animal and it would have been crueler and even dangerous to try and take it to be assesed or just move it out of the way. I congratulate the cop on a job well done. -
I received an Email from Dogs Qld on Monday. It was a newsletter they are calling the Dog Blog that they are going to be sending out monthly with updates on what is happening. They are also running a photo comp according to this email to build up a gallery for the new website they are launching in Feb. Do the other states do this or is Qld starting a new trend? Is Qld under new management or something? First they change their name, then the are trialing a new award, now this?

Try contacting the Lab Club in Victoria. I got my boy through the club in Qld and found they where a great help.

Why Don't People Pick Up After Their Dogs At Shows?
Dracdog replied to TessnSean's topic in General Dog Discussion
Tyres not wheels! Your tyres have been on the road, exposed to road-kill, phlegm, vomit, cigarette butts and all sorts of other nasties. Geez the bottom of your shoe gets covered in wee and poo residue from a show, and you take that into your house and rub it all over your carpet. And then let your children sit on the carpet! I think dog wee on a tyre is the least of anyones worries . I take my shoes off at the door and they stay outside....as does anyone that comes to my home....how about others? Does your dog only hit the tyres every time adjusting its aim for the differing amounts of rubber from low profile tyres to desert dualers. It is an amazing dog if it can perhaps you should put it on a talent show. Even if it is only on the rubber it still can damage it. perhaps the next person who catches your dog peeing on their tyres should send you the bill for the replacement rims. An expensive set of Mags can be ruined by dog piss. I personaly clean my tyres & Rims every time I wash my car, which is once a week and pollish both the car and rims at the same time. As for the shoes I leave mine in the shed when I walk in and to be extra safe as only our back yard is fenced I have 2 pair of thongs one for the front yard and one for the back. -
When is it on? from what I have seen they usually appear 2 months in advance?

SBT No it is not free. they are charging $21 the same as an Obedience title. You do apparantly get a Certificate for it. remember at the moment it is only a trial so if and when it goes national then I'd say it will get title status and be added to the pedigree aswell. They have to charge something for staff time and cost of certificates and postage back. Get real nothing in this life is free
-
According to the Dog World because it is not national it won't be added to the dogs name as a title however it will be published the same way titles are. The current name for them is Qld Bronze Award, Qld Silver Award & Qld Gold Award. I suppose if it does go national then the name will change and it will become a title. I wonder if they have had anyone apply for them yet. Maybe not seeing as it only just started.

I have just had a chance to properly read the January Dog World. They are initiating a new award to fillin the gap between Champ & Grand Champ. They are a Gold, Silver & Bronze awards you get bronze at 250, Silver at 500 and Gold at 750. I think this is a brilliant Idea as it may keep people from loosing interest in the long road between the existing Champ & Grand Champ. It is only in Qld for now but if it works they say it will hopfully go national.

I rang yesterday and asked them the same question. Apparently they have a new website comming online soon (didn't say when) and all the information will be on it. It's about time they revamped it the current one is a bit outdated I think.

If One More Person Asks Me...... Grrrr
Dracdog replied to pixie_meg's topic in General Dog Discussion
My Sheltie often draws the comment "what a cute Collie pup" people are quite shocked when they are told that he is actually 6 years old and fully grown. -
The Border Collie, Cattledog & Kelpie, Belgian Shepherd, German Shepherd Clubs do herding as well. I think you can get the numbers from the CCCQ website

The Viniger seems to have worked I'll keep it going for a week and see what happens

Do you clean the area he has previously done it on with bleach or vinegar? The smell might be attracting him back and those cleaners will destroy that smell. Dogs do like to go in the same spot- my dog cracks me up, on our early morning walks she stops in the exact same spot in the MIDDLE OF A ROAD to do her poo. More considerate than on the footpath I guess Thanks I'll try the Bleach when I get home tonight. I had been using the disinfectant my wife bought for the house. looking at the bottle now it is lavander scented which is probabley attracting him.
-
I have tried every time I see him going to do his poos picking him up and moving him but you can not watch him 24/7 and now he seems to wait until i am not arround to do it.
-
I have baught a new pup he is a good looking dog from a good breeder and is already starting to pick up the basic training that I am giving at 9 weeks old. But he has a problem he does his poos on the patio not on the grass. How do I train him not to do it on the patio?
-
So I should be able to compete and get a title for it in QLD or is it just the other States that do it?
-
you will not be barred if you compete in an ADAA trial i have competed in both and know of a lot of people that compete in both ADAA and ANKC agility... i fully reccommend ADAA they have some great courses/judges and great people and dogs who compete I thought my leg was being pulled so when I happened to bump into the person from training who told me I would be barred last night at the shops I passed on my thoughts . He walked away and I thought that is the end of that. 5 minutes after I got home he rang me and started barking rules 287 and 290 at me and stated that he knows that people do compete in these trials and if he found out who was he would have no problem in reporting them. Needless to say I'll be steering clear of him from now on at training.
-
An ANKC or by default CCCQ registered team would not be possible as I was told that I could be suspended or bared from competeing at CCCQ events because it is a non sanctioned trial. Aparently it is in the rules but I haven't looked all the way through them. Does any one know?
-
I Havea fewQuestions 1. Is Flyball An Officially recognised sport in QLD? 2. If so how often are the trials held and what are the requirements for a title? 3. If not how do we go about getting it recognised?
-
I was looking at competeing at one of their trials until I was told that I could be suspended or bared from competeing at CCCQ events because it is a non sanctioned trial. Aparently it is in the rules but I haven't looked all the way through them. Does any one know?

I take it that Jock is on the AR. if that is so then you can trial him in QLD Under your NSW membership for 3 months before you have to become a member of QLD.

I am taking my boy to Obedience classes for the first time in ages and am looking at Pine Rivers DOC. Does anyone go there and what are they like not only in their training methords but as a club in general?

Dracdog replied to Karlos's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
If you give the CCCQ a ring they should be able to give you a couple of numbers -
Does any one know what it takes to become a Dog Trainer. Is there any Courses that you can do and if so who runs them? Or does it work like an apprenticeship?
