Champion Class- Should We Have A Seperate Class?
Havasneeze replied to Stolzseinrotts's topic in General Dog Discussion
No. The number of sets of CCs varies from breed to breed across the year but always only one set per show. Another thing in the UK, there is only one set of CCs available in a breed in any one day. This is obviously no use in Australia but when you look in the journal and see three or four shows on a single day within striking distance of where you live, you do have to wonder about the ease titles are given out in SOME areas! Thanks for that, seems that someone has fed me some misinformation. -
Champion Class- Should We Have A Seperate Class?
Havasneeze replied to Stolzseinrotts's topic in General Dog Discussion
I believe that in the UK, dependent on the number of dogs registered within the breed per year, there is more than one CC per sex available at shows. I think that this would be a more worthwhile way to go, particularly for those breeds who have large numbers. Yes, it can be difficult for good dogs to beat the GR CH & CH dogs that are shown week in & week out. Yes, there are some lovely examples of numerically large numbered breeds who are not titled but are worthy of the title CH. Perhaps this is a better way to go.... -
It has been changed to a default of no because when we were entering 3 or 4 shows at the same venue, through the same show secretary, ozentries would charge us postage for each show entered. As this particular show secretary is very honest, he would create stamped addressed envelopes in the exhibitors name and put them in with numbers when they were posted back. When we had 6 shows at the one venue, with the one show secretary for all 6 shows, he was unable to fit ALL the envelopes in with the numbers so he requested the change with ozentries. It was also creating more work than a poor show secretary should have to cope with.

I have seen some lovely neuters, who have been neutered for health reasons. Their breeding ability is a great loss to each of their respective breeds and I'm very pleased that they are being offered the chance to become Champions, albeit neutered Champions. Always remember that the Challenge Certificate for a neuter reads the same as a Challenge Certificate for an entire dog. The Judge still signs after it says "I am clearly of the opinion that this exhibit is of such outstanding merit as to be worthy to qualify for the title of 'Champion'"

I got my first choice

You can book a taxi or pick one up at the airport but you must ensure that you state you have dogs with you when you make the booking. Though most drivers will not take dogs, some have no problem with it. Dogs must be crated to travel in a taxi unless is it an assistance dog.

The GSD was inter and I think Junior went to a BC. I think the Beardie went on to get it's class in show too. Yes, the beardie got Baby in Show!!! It was her last show in baby.

If the dog has been judged in the wrong class, it is immediately disqualified for that reason. If you realise before the class is judged and leave the ring, you would still be eligible to be judged in the correct class. ETA: 14.3 A dog shall be disqualified from winning a prize at a Show held under the Regulations if a Show Committee is satisfied that:- (i) any dye, colouring, whitening or darkening matter, or preparation, has been used and if the effect of it remains at any time during the Show; (ii) any oil, grease, sticky or glossy substances have been used and if the effect of it remains on the coat of the dog at any time during the Show; (iii) the lining membranes of the mouth have been cut, pierced or mutilated in any way; (iv) the dog has been led into the Ring or exhibited by a person who has been debarred or suspended by Dogs NSW under the Regulations. (v) the dog has been entered after the closing date for entries; (vi) the dog was for any reason ineligible to compete in the relative class or event. This from the show regulations on the Dogs NSW website http://www.dogsnsw.org.au/images/stories/P...art_02_Show.pdf

It's $1 charged by Ozentries per entry i.e. if you enter 5 dogs you pay $5 to Ozentries for the service. They also charge u a small percentage of the total of the transaction as a credit card fee, 1.5% or something like that. I look at it this way, it is far cheaper for me to be able to enter a show a week or 2 before that show via Ozentries and know that I can actually attend, as opposed to entering a show 4-5 weeks beforehand on the off chance that I "might" be able to attend. In saying that, I have noticed that in NSW show secretary's are now offering a closing date closer to the show, e.g. 2-3 weeks, since Ozentries have offered this service.

 :D why does that not surprise me

"of" is NOT accepted in NSW!!! A name being the same as any breeders prefix registered with Dogs NSW will not be accepted. A dog’s name may not exceed 30 characters including spaces between words and the breeders prefix. • The words ‘imp’, ‘champ’, ‘of’, ‘ie’, ‘vom’, ‘von’, ‘le’ or any numbers (e.g. I, IV) , cannot be used.

You could have just texted me and I would have given you the answer Go with Qantas, puppy flies as carry on luggage, no extra charge (I believe) provided you don't exceed the baggage limit One of my puppies is going to the Gold Coast and the new owner is picking her up from me. She is flying with Virgin and they are charging her $50 for the puppy to fly too. Don't forget you have to have an approved airline crate (PP20) for puppy to fly in. If you call Dogtainers they can arrange for a crate to be available to you at the airport 90 minutes before your flight.

and herein lies the problem... Dogsoft will only print your entry forms out for you. Ozentries allows you to enter and get a receipt immediately. No wondering about whether your entries got lost in the mail or making sure that you have enough money in your cheque account when some shows don't even bank until after the show. Some people use postal orders rather than having a cheque book and some people pay very high fees for using a cheque account. I'm lucky that I only pay 50 cents per cheque and no other fees for my cheque account. Some people are even luckier and have no fees on their cheque accounts. For the conveniece of the system offered, I much prefer doing my entries via Ozentries!!!

Depends what breed of dog you have. The first line of the Schipperke standard says "intensely lively & alert" so I need my girls to show that in the ring. What sort of dog are you showing? If it is a breed that's supposed to be placid and look boring in the ring, you could try rescue remedy. I have used this with great success. A couple of squirts on the tongue about an hour before you hit the ring will help, depending on the size on the dog, a little bit more if it's a large dog.
