Does anybody have the link for the Best of Best photos at the Sydney Royal please?

Unfortunately our Judge for the Schipps was particularly slow. It took her over 4 hours to do around 100 dogs. The poor shitties were on after the Schipps.

Mine have chicken necks every day. My male Havanese has 5 chicken necks at a time. I guess I'm lucky that the supermarket where I buy them always has BIG chicken necks so there is no way they can swallow them whole. As for wings, most of my dogs won't touch them, they prefer the chicken necks. I also give my 11 month old Schipperke bitch 4 chicken necks for dinner as she's still a growing girl. I'm sorry that I don't know what sort of dog you have so I can't comment as to whether that's a sufficient amount.

Can I Get A Refund For A Change Of Judge?
Havasneeze replied to BittyMooPeeb's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know which show you are talking about Gail and yes, you are entitled to a refund if there is a change of Judge but I'm not sure how it goes if the original Judge is still doing General Specials, therefore it isn't actually a change of Judge just an additional Judge. Maybe someone could clarify that for us all. Jo -
Hitting The Ring For The First Time

Welcome!!!! Poocow and Goldenwei do show training at castle hill...I think they do anyway...not sure who else, but I'm sure they will be along soon enough to tell you all about it!!! Can I request some pics of you puppy? Have met a couple of Lappies now and is all I have to say about that! Our third show is this weekend, and yep, am hooked too. I think there is show training at Castle Hill on Tuesday nights at 7:30om. I go to Luci Ellem out at Austral, however I believe she has finished for the next month so classes won't be happening until after ANZAC weekend.... Poocow maybe able to confirm that though, I didn't go this week. Where abouts are you located mentmint? Oh, and Welcome I go to show training at Castle Hill and yes it is on Tuesday nights at 7.30pm. Cost is $5 and goes till 8.30pm. It is more dog socialization that show training. It's not as full on as at Lucy's. We walk the dogs around, stack them, walk some more, stack them. Then we weave in between the dogs so that the little dogs can get used to the big dogs and the big dogs can get used to the little dogs and stop thinking of them as breakfast We continue doing this until about 8pm when we split up into 2 groups. Big dogs down one end and little dogs up the other end with the table. We do some table work, triangles and up & backs. Do this for about half an hour and then it's home time. I must say that the ladies who run it are very nice and if you need to concentrate on something in particular, they will do that for you. It is not just for babies and there are a lot of afghans there as well. There is also flyball on Tuesday nights at Castle Hill and they can get very loud, so this is also good socialization for the dogs. They tend to be bullet proof after a few weeks there. We also have the advantage if it is raining, we can go undercover in the toy ring. Havasneeze. Are they having a break over Easter at all. Luci is finished now for 4 weeks, but I think it would be good to get Willow up at CH for a couple of weeks. As far as I know, there is no break for Easter. If I find out differently I will let you know. -

See you there - at some stage! I'm a bit overrun with children here at the moment, and don't know that I will be able to get them up and about early enough to make the morning show. I'll see if my mother-in-law might be kind enough to come and stay tonight so that the kids can sleep in. I used to have a bit of time to get to the shows, too, showing a Min Pin and even a Maremma - it's the A dogs that are the problem for someone who is always pushing deadlines. ;) This is one of the reasons why I no longer show B for Bearded Collie and now show H for Havanese and S for Schipperke (what a joy that one is) ;) -

I just changed dogs!!!! Went from Working Dogs to Toys...

No, they don't film the breed classes/BOB judging, you can only see the BOB for the breeds when in the group ring. If your breed has no classes (what is it??) it may well not have a BOB. There is actually an assortment of BOB judging videos available on YouTube at present, e.g. Bearded Collie :D It's just a matter of searching and hoping that the breed you wish to view is there....

I hesitate to suggest this in case I get jumped on but here goes, The Rotunda is undercover at Erskine Park. Now I don't know if it would be big enough for Dobermans but I think that if you just used it as a ring, with everybody setting up outside, it should be big enough. Just a thought, maybe next time.... I would think that this would cover all provisos in the rules as well. You could use the outdoor rings and if necessary, move indoors to the Rotunda.

Hitting The Ring For The First Time

I got my prayer mat (that's the floor mat for the gazebo) from the bargain store at St Marys, which is just up the road from Erskine Park. I'm sure other bargain stores would sell them though and it was half the price of what great rugs charge for the same mat -
That's so sad :D I was hoping for a good result. I'm so sorry for your loss

Crufts used to be shown on the BBC until the Pedigree Dogs Exposed expose. It is no longer available on TV now and as Showdog said, can only be viewed via live streaming or their radio station. Videos are also uploaded to YouTube.

Hitting The Ring For The First Time

Ummmm, that's a nice idea but to do show training you need a DOG to train with. Show training is not only about giving ourselves some training, but more so to help the DOG when it hits the ring -
Built In Dog Gates For Ute/wagon - Where To Buy

I believe Ozzie Scales used to make them for people (correct me if I'm wrong please) so maybe try contacting the people who took over the business when he passed away. -
Showing dogs is like playing competitive sport. There's always one in every crowd that want to spoil it for the rest. Unfortunately when we show dogs, as said previously, it isn't us being judged but the little mutt on the end of the lead (supposedly). I liken showing dogs to parents watching their kids play in sporting competitions. You get the good one's and geeze, you get the bad one's too. Some people speak with their emotions and don't care about others feelings. Some people see dog showing for what it is, a bit of fun and if you happen to do well, that's icing on the cake. We can't always be winners (even though it would be nice if we could). To me, this is a good example of how far people are prepared to go to get a win up. Last year at Erskine Park, for a bit of fun, one of the shows had an egg and spoon race. Each group had a race then the group winners had a run off to determine the best of the best egg and spoon racer. A bit of fun, you might say, I certainly thought so. Something to lighten the mood and to show that we CAN have fun at a dog show. Alas, as I said above, there's always one in every crowd that just have to take it too far. One of the competitors chose to use blue tack to stick their egg (tennis ball) to the spoon. They were eventually found out, but not before they had spoilt some other competitors fun. I just shook my head and giggled, I thought it rather amusing that someone needed to win that bad that they needed to cheat in an egg and spoon race but I can also see the other side of the coin and also find it very sad... So in closing I would like to say, let's get out there and have some fun. If we win, that's fantastic and if not, there's always the next show and don't forget my favourite saying, One day a rooster, next day a feather duster
