  3. I have to agree with everyone else about the first one. I have one of those and I have lost 2 wheels so far and yes they also bend. The rest of it is ok though. I just keep it in the house now for grooming the dogs. The 2nd one looks better constructed than the first. The wheels, whilst being the same, appear to have a different system to attach them to the trolley and has wheel locks. I have just purchased a new trolley from Don Day in Sydney which has those wheel locks on it and is also made of aluminium. Great little trolley. Handles fold down to make it easier to fit in the boot and it is well made and solid whilst still being light enough for me to get into and out of the car without having a heart attack.
  4. I have a Bearded Collie with my Schipperkes and Havanese and they all get on fantastically well together. The beardie is the boss of the house and makes sure the rest of the dogs toe the line!!!
  5. I use black & silver bling leads on my black & white parti coloured Havs and also use them for my black Schipp
  6. Yes I agree that pups are sold as show potential rather than show quality. I have a litter from which I am running on 3 pups. One boy grows in proportion and always looks good. The girl got long in the body first and had no legs so instead of looking like a havanese she looked like a dachie. Now she has grown some legs and is looking quite good. I have another boy whose head got big first, like his father, just have to wait for his body to catch up to his head. All 3 should turn out to be nice pups but if I just worked on the little spurts instead of looking at the big picture, I would only have 1 of them now and I'm of the opinion that the big headed boy and the girl will turn out to be very nice dogs. Sometimes patience is a wonderful tool.
  7. I write on the back of my stamped self-addressed envelope the dogs I have entered and their classes.... Like you say, not too hard
  8. Co-ownership - can mean a myriad of different things depending on the agreement you make with the breeder. Briefly, it means that both you and the breeder own the dog on it's registration papers. If you go down this co-own path please ensure you get EVERYTHING in writing no matter how small the detail Firstly you need to become a member of your state canine council such as Dogs NSW or CCCQ as examples. Secondly you require a dog on the Main Register (NOT Limited Register) that is of 'show potential'. Once of age (puppy must be 3 months old before it can be entered in a show) you can look through your state journel/gazette for shows you wish to attend, fill in entry form send off etc. Tidy attire - pants and a shirt or skirt and shirt and add a jacket if you wish... Pssssst, don't forget the pockets ;)
  9. They do the Group 1, 2, 3 & 4 at the Sydney Royal as well as Puppy in Group (there is only 1 puppy in group, not Group 1, 2, 3, 4) but no other classes. Then do Group 1, 2, 3 & 4 for Best in Show. They did it last year at Sydney Kennel Club Show (I think that was the one) and there was so much bitching about it that they have gone back to the old way this year. Most of the comments were, we have to put up with it at the Sydney Royal, but we aren't prepared to put up with it at a run of the mill all breeds show, no matter how prestigious. It's nice to see that Sydney Kennel Club took this onboard and have decided to try something different again this year. They are having 4 sweepstakes broken up into 3-6 months for dogs, 3-6 months for bitches. 6-12 months for dogs and 6-12 months for bitches. It will be interesting to see how this is viewed by exhibitors.
  10. WOW, those are HUGE gundog & Non-Sporting numbers. Good Luck and hope you have a gr8 weekend
  11. Nice to see something different winning BIS. Go the Chow!!! Nice to hear that the Schipps were entertaining....
  12. Dot's trolley covers are much nicer than the Great Rugs trolley covers
  13. Thanks!!!! My girl is celebrating her 1st birthday today and is currently on 99 points so we just have to get 25 points for her title....
  14. I agree!!! I have group 1 & group 7 dogs. Have to be there early for the Toys and hang around all day for the Schipperkes which is rather annoying as it takes me a lot longer to get the Havanese ready for the ring than it does to prepare the Schipperkes. It can make for a very long day...
  15. Hi ophnbark, welcome to the newbie thread. I understand why you have that nic since Schipperkes bark very often LOL I also show a black Schipperke and her name is Faith (Breogan Faith in Black (IID)). What's Sarge's show name? They can certainly be a handful in the ring but once they get the hang of things they really are a joy to show!!!
  16. I had this problem with my Havanese boy when he discovered "girls" and the lovely smells they leave on the ground!!!! I swiftly changed him over to a check chain and this eradicated the problem very quickly. You can't have your nose on the ground whilst being choked to death!!!
  17. Sorry I don't know. Would probably be best to go back to Tina on that one....
  18. Metropolitan KC of SA Inc Shows 15th/16th May, 2010 Please note that due to an unfortunate accident, Mrs Cathy Scotton will not be judging at the above shows. I have managed to secure the services of Mrs Janice Campbell to judge groups 1 & 6. Thank you to Janice for filling in at such short notice. If any exhibitors require any further information, please email me direct. Permission to cross-post is granted. Tina Matthews. secretary
  19. Go to breeds 101 great stuff there Oh, very clever!!! But nope, they're the main facts and info on the breeds. This thread was supposed to be a thread about learning interesting facts about a breed that other dog savvy people might not know about - Like that most Samoyeds have one black strand of hair somewhere on them. I never would have known that but found it very interesting when I found Fletcher's and then found out that they all do! In any other thread people would be apologising for taking it off topic, but it's been totally acceptable here. Just would love to read some interesting little facts! From the OP: Not "I would love to hear the crazy things that people think about your dog that aren't true!" Well I for one have actually been enjoying this thread. I have found it informative and at times, downright hilarious. I guess you can't please everybody and like the old saying goes, there's always one in every crowd
  20. Clubs have to forward their show notice for printing in the journal no less than 5 months prior to the event. This is how it is in NSW, don't know about other states. Bearing this in mind, it may take a little time for the neuter classes to be offered.
