Sheltie was Deidre Crofts Aus Bred boy. Sorry not very familiar with the gundog ring so can't tell you who owned the Golden but it was nearly white, lovely dog though.... -

Best Breed For Your Average First Time Dog Owner
Havasneeze replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would highly recommend Schipperkes. A big dog mentality in a small package. Easy to maintain, don't need a lot of exercise and quite intelligent. I also Havanese and whilst they are a lovely dog with a gorgeous temperament, the coat does take a fair bit of maintenance. You could off course cut the coat off, but why get a coated dog if you're just going to get rid of the coat? -

Tuesday night is just turn up on the night and pay your $5. If Wednesday night is still going, I think it's Pauline Hartwell who runs that one. She can be found on the judges list on the ANKC website.

8.30 is sort of reasonable, 9am is a bit better, 10am is perfect. However, now we are into summer we start at 8am which is NOT reasonable at all. These are usually Sunday shows and follow the Saturday show which started at 5pm (which is more than reasonable) but not good if u want to do both shows on the weekend.....

Training For Ddb In Penrith Area
Havasneeze replied to redblazebordeaux's topic in General Dog Discussion
Try Lucie Ellem at Austral. She has classes 3 times a week and also does private classes. Lucie is usually listed in the Dogs NSW gazette. -
I have the same. I like the fact that I can put the compact up by myself and take it down by myself, if necessary. I also ditched the little sticks that came with the gazebo and opted for the heavy duty steel pegs from the hardware store. As I'm short, I don't usually put the gazebo the whole way up anyways. You never know when a big gust of wind is just going to appear out of nowhere.

 Chi people who have multiple dogs and only one lead. :D ;) ;) and the same Chi people who decide to have a chat whilst changing that one lead, finish putting the lead on the dog but absolutely refuse to enter the ring until they have finished that conversation then continue the same process for 8 dogs!!!!

The grooming powder must be particularly annoying for owners of black dogs. Yup, I show a havanese, on which I use powder and I also show a Schipperke. It's absolutely amazing that I stand there and work out which way the wind is blowing and try to make sure that my dog (as well as others) don't get hit with the powder but the powder just seems to have a mind of it's own. I'm sure those black dogs are just a magnet for powder!!!

Newcastle Show And No Show Equipment Stalls
Havasneeze replied to Darkrai's topic in General Dog Discussion
If it's a Saturday at Hillsborough, you can see Kim & Ros with the snazzy pooch leads. They are usually set up around the Toy ring. I think the fella who usually comes to the shows at Newcastle has just become a father (not sure if it's their first) so I guess he might be enjoying being a dad. The gentleman from great rugs is not well, so they only turn up infrequently. I know it can be very annoying when you really need something. When I went to Morisset a few weeks ago I forgot all my leads and not one vendor in sight to sell me any either. I borrowed a couple from a TT person and a friend brought me up some leads on the Saturday. -
Try having a smooth collie!!! I get the occasional person who says I can see it's a collie by his head but what did you do with his coat? When people ask me "what is it"? I just say "Lassie was having a bad hair day so I had to cut all his hair off" ..... this usually gets a giggle and I go on to explain that there are actually 2 types of collie's available and he is a smooth collie. Everybody I have spoken to about him has appreciated the information and gone away a little bit wiser...

Congratulations, he's a lovely boy!!!!

I would have said girls but my bitches are living up to their names (they're being real BITCHES at the moment) and the boys are always so sweet, I'd have to say BOYS!!!

I guess this is the problem when you have a Solicitor as President. They see a problem behind every leaf of that money tree....

Unfortunately that isn't the end of it. An independent person has been appointed to delve further into this matter. Tom stated at the meeting last night that he was not prepared to deal with the independent assessor and that he wanted the matter handed over to ASIC but "the board" in their wisdom (after seeking legal advice) prefer for the independent assessor to look further into this matter.... Further, in regards to the 112 people who signed the petition, the majority of them signed the petition as they were told it was in support of resolution 1, which was put to the SGM last night, that being that any assessor could assess during the judges training scheme, even if the assessors were candidates within the scheme themselves. This motion was also defeated. "The board" had also sought legal advice in this matter and were advised that even if the vote supported the motion, "the board" did NOT have to put the motion into play.... more waste of money!!! As the sands pass through the hourglass (and our money), these are the days of our lives....

I'd be guessing it ws the chihuahuas!!! I show chihuahuas for a friend from time to time and have found that the smooth coats can be quite nasty but the long coats seem to be a bit more laid back and easier to get along with. I have also been chased around the ring by a smooth coat chihuahua trying to bite me, as it didn't want to do what I was trying to get it to do.... stand in a group line up!!! When we used to show these smooth coats, we would have to warn people (usually children) not to put their fingers in the trolley or risk having them bitten off by the little darlings...
