  1. Yes I'll be there singing showdog, but only if I win of course, if I lose I'll storm out of the ring, rubbish the winning dogs, accuse the winning handler of sleeping with the judge and then slink off home to wash the dye out of my dogs
  2. were the wins actually taken away? or is it just a gazette results entry because of the database not holding the registration details? I don't know yet. She has been ill recently so I haven't had a chance to ask her. I didn't want to upset her. I will find out within the next few days....
  3. I haven't seen her since the Christmas show so I don't know if she has received her paperwork yet. As at 18th December she hadn't received it, then Dogs NSW went on holidays for 3 weeks so she may have received it within the last couple of weeks. Yes the dog is still being shown and has received a few more BIG's since October, so we may see some more Non reg-registered import's in the NS group results. Is there an avenue for the owner to put in a complaint and get the BIG's awarded? (seeing as it is Dogs NSW own fault that they oculdnt get the paperwork dont in the time frame that they themselves set out)? It seems quite unfair otherwise I don't think she'll sit back and let it all wash over her. She's a fighter and I expect her to come out with all guns blazing.
  4. Reminds me of when I was new and used to patiently listen to someone witter on to me at length about how terrible it was that certain people in the breed never said hello or spoke to them at shows, how rude, etc. It was only later that I realised those rude exhibitors were smarter than me!! ;)
  5. The Schipperke, which is a traditionally docked breed, numbers are higher this year than they were last year. Go figure!!!
  6. Dog showing is like playing competitive sport. Some people can hack it and some just aren't cut out for it. I'm quite sure that if I hadn't "hardened" up on the sporting field, I would have stopped showing dogs a longggggg time ago.
  7. ATTENTION ALL EXHIBITORS FOR T & G ALL BREEDS DOG CLUB SHOW Saturday, 5th February The official 10.00am Bureau of Meteorology forecast for Penrith on Saturday indicates a maximum temperature of 41 Degrees which places the T & G All Breeds Dog Club under coverage of the Dogs NSW Extreme Weather Regulations (Part II - 19.1). Penrith Summary Min 24 Max 41 *Partly cloudy. Isolated showers. The chance of thunderstorms in the west. Winds northerly and light tending north to northwesterly up to 30 km/h during the morning. *The Club President, Betty Stepkovitch and Committee have considered the forecast in detail and the following changes/precautions have been decided: JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP - Was to begin at 5.00pm - there will now be NO JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP conducted at the show. The Junior Showmanship competition will be conducted at our July Show instead. BREED JUDGING - Commencing at 5.30 as per schedule PROVIDED the temperature at that time is below 40 degrees. Hoses with special Shower Heads will be provided at strategic locations around the ground to keep dogs cool. I also remind exhibitors of the following Regulation 19.1.1 If, at any Show, an exhibitor considers that the heat conditions are or may be prejudicial to the comfort or welfare of their exhibit/s, they may leave the grounds immediately with no penalty or other consequence in relation to any award that may have previously been made at that show. PERMISSION TO CROSS POST IS DEFINITELY GIVEN and WELCOME Debbie Burrows Asstnt Show Secretary T & G All Breeds Dog Club

  9. You do need to hold the pedigree and have the pedigree in your name before you exhibit. Look at how many results have been made illegitimate by the ineligible dog. Shame the new owner didn't attend the RNSWCC office and pay for the speed service (if they have that). The rule in NSW is that an imported dog may be entered in 3 shows under the original owners name and any further shows must be entered under the new owners name. It would seem to me that Dogs NSW give enough time to send the paperwork in and to be received and that it is then OK to enter the dog in future shows, assuming (I really hate that word) that the pending registration will be returned in a timely manner...
  10. You do need to hold the pedigree and have the pedigree in your name before you exhibit. Look at how many results have been made illegitimate by the ineligible dog. Shame the new owner didn't attend the RNSWCC office and pay for the speed service (if they have that). Unfortunately she lives too far away for that to be a viable option... However, I believe she should have registered the dog with Dogs ACT, as she did with her last litter, due to problems that she seems to encounter with Dogs NSW
  11. If you look at BIS & RUBIS for 30/10 you will notice there is no RUBIS listed either. The dog in question also got RUBIS. This dog is from New Zealand and will be here for a short time. The dog arrived in Australia a few days before the show. The new owner had sent in papers to transfer the dog into her name and I know that as of half way through December she still hadn't received the paperwork back from Dogs NSW. I don't know which name she entered the dog under, her name or the actual owners name. This may be where the problem lies. Looks like Dogs NSW may be splitting hairs :D
  12. Firstly, let me say, it is very difficult to beat a baby Chow. They are very laid back and are sooooooo cute. But in saying that, baby puppy class is all about having FUN!!! You want your puppy to have a long show life and not be a robot, who after a few shows, is just OVER it. So try and make it fun for both of you. Always remember, we're here for a good time, not a long time...
  13. Thanks BB. I wasn't actually after anything. I didn't want to mate them but they had other ideas They only did it the one time and it was a slip mating so I had my fingers crossed that it didn't take....
  14. Our Havanese girl Peaches safely delivered 4 puppies, ALL GIRLS!!! Total delivery time was 1.5 hours 2 black & white parti colours, 2 cream & gold
  15. Thanks ozmalinois. Where are the puppies located in cases when they cant be seen or felt? I cant imagine where there would be room for them! Schipperkes traditionally carry their babies up very high (up under the kidneys) and it can be difficult to work out if they are indeed in whelp. We usually ultrasound at 5 weeks and then x-ray at 8 weeks to make sure there won't be any problem with the birth, e.g head too big for the birth canal and things like that. When the schipp was in whelp with her first litter, we told the vet we wanted an ultrasound at 5 weeks. She insisted on doing an x-ray which showed nothing. She agreed to do another x-ray the following week (at no charge) even though we insisted again on an ultrasound. The x-ray once again showed no puppies and she then decided that the bitch had pyometra and gave her a large dose of oxytocin. This caused the mother to abort the puppies that she was not in whelp with In case anybody is wondering, yes we have changed vets!!! We knew that Peaches (Havanese) was actually in whelp at about 3 weeks as one of the Schipperkes just sat there and continually barked at her, she obviously sensed that something was different. We seem to be very lucky here. I have a boy who will tell us exactly when it is the right time mate a bitch, he isn't interested until that time and a Schipperke that tells us when a bitch is in whelp Good Luck with Elle, Gail
  16. I'll give this a go, though I'm happy to be corrected. I breed and show Schipperkes, which are traditionally docked dogs. Tail docking is still included in the standard, even though we no longer dock tails in Australia (supposedly). There are also natural bobtails within the Schipperke breed. Nowhere within the standards in Australia (that I'm aware of) is cropping included or mentioned... So my thoughts would be that since cropping is no longer included in the standards, that would be the reason why. I would think that when docked tails are no longer mentioned within the standards here, that there will be no docked dogs shown, since it no longer would meet the standard for the breed.
  17. My Schipperke is from an exact same situation but rather than trust people that she didn't know, the breeder placed all the puppies from the litter with people that she knew. I tend to think it's always better to deal with people that you know. Some people are good at telling you what you want to hear, but when it comes down to it, those words are not worth the paper they are written on...
  18. Yes I had a problem when I got a new puter with Windows 7. I managed to find another version in the DOL forums somewhere... It's just a matter of installing it and it just updates your old version. I'm now on version 2.0.5 which can be found under Help ~ About within the program
  19. Do you have any friends that would be willing to run any of the boys on for you?
  20. I'd be going with the wandering jew or even the grass. Do you have buffalo grass? I know it makes me itch if I lie in it...
  21. I used to have this problem when I first started going to Hillsborough. I overheard one local say to another "Don't they have enough shows down in Sydney, why do they have to come up here!!!" I didn't allow these people to spoil my enjoyment of attending a dog show somewhere other than Sydney and the locals have worked out that no matter what they say, I will keep coming back. Unfortunately, some people are very small minded and can't see that by "outsiders" supporting shows, they are helping to keep shows running. In saying that, there will always be the "precious" people who seem to look very hard to find something that annoys them. Whether it be "alien" exhibitors or something else. Don't think that you are alone in having to suffer rudeness from other exhibitors, Judges, stewards or even show committee. I have been showing at "EP" for 4 years now and never cease to be amazed when someone finds something petty to whine at me about.... I have found though, that the pleasant people far outway the not so pleasant people. It's just that the unpleasant people seem to stand out more!!! One small point to remember is that we have larger group numbers here in Sydney (particularly the Toy group) and the steward who you may think is being rude, is actually just trying to get through the group quickly so as not to inconvenience other exhibitors in smaller groups and to allow General Specials to finish at a reasonable hour.
  22. We have the same whelping box and yes, it is pretty damn good!!! We got it from a Cavalier breeder who had 2 litters with the box and then decided she didn't want to breed any more. We have used it for 2 litters, one of schipperkes and one of havanese. We did remove the safety railings as the baby havs kept getting stuck under it but all in all, it's a great box. Easy to clean and we just stand it up for storage, doesn't really take up a lot of space.
  23. Country candidates do not have to attend the breed lectures, though it is advantageous to do so, if possible...
