  1. Thank you so much for your replies and advice I will have to check that the lens will have AF on there - I'm def not confident to not have that available at this stage Will keep researching tomorrow - its home time Thanks again guys. Happy snapping: )
  2. Wow - quite a big price difference between 1.8 and 1.4 50mm..... On digital camera warehouse I can get a AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D for $186. (Does AF mean its auto-focus)?? Or... Nikkor Lens - AF 50mm f/1.4D which is $499.... Hmmmm...which would you get??? Thanks again guys!!! Hopefully I can post in here soon too
  3. Hi guys! Wow all your photos are amazing!! I've gone thru all pages tonight in this thread!! Lol. I have a very basic entry level nikon d3000 with the twins lens kit(18-55 VR and 55-200 VR). I have no photography training or anything, but have been researching my next lens and am looking at getting the 50 or 35mm / 1.8 or 1.4 nikkor lens. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I need something that's gonna work well in low light, nighttime. And also from the photos they take great action shots - I've got a border and rough collie - so something that's gonna capture them in movement would be great! Thanks everyone in advance, hoping someone can help! At the moment I mainly use auto setting so a lens that can do well in that setting while I learn will be great! Thanks again, LML
  4. Mich & Jake - how exciting !! Welcome aboard !! Shelties are gorgeous, not that I am biased or anything.. I am picking up my Collie in 2 days! Where in Aus are you ?
  5. Awwwwwww she is adorable !!!!!!! Poor little thing missing her mummy & litter mates Hopefully she will start to adjust soon so you can get some sleept !! JulesP - I am like you, dont think i'll get much sleep at all on Friday night !! Actually, I'll prob get more sleep Fri than what I will Sat night !! lol Glad we could help Ellz :D For ppl like me (and most of us here by the sounds of it) we have all been waiting for a long time, even before the bitch has come in to season, so really its like we are apart of it all from the very beginning, and thanks to my girl's breeder of course for keeping us up to date with everything the whole way, it really makes it easier for us !
  6. How did we go GoldieGirl ???? Hows pup settling in ???? Pics pics !!!!
  7. Heheh .... maybe! lol .... whatever toys we dont give her though, will give to Zorro (I'm going to keep the coloured plush star thingy for him, that was his fave as a pup...) So Friday is the big day for you Jules P ?? What time is the pick up ? We are going there about 10.30ish on Saturday morning. Hmmm, I don't have a harness yet for her, for the car, but will get one in the next couple of weeks, I will just hold her on my lap for now
  8. Hmmm, maybe we have bought too much ! lol We waited until it was confirmed we were getting a pup (as there are not many Collies for sale in Brisbane, we waited a year for this litter) - so wanted to make sure we were getting one first She will use Zorro's crate to train in, then we've bought her a mattress for the crate, a pillow thingy to learn to use while hanging out with us in the living room etc for example, or wherever! Then also all those soft toys, leash & collar, we've got blankets already, toilet training pads, lots of chew toys and ropes etc, 2 bowls - food & water, and a couple of treats. Plus we've bought her food she needs, and also I just made up a big batch of homemade pasta & veg for them for the next 2 weeks (to go with their bikkies). I think I"m all set ! So now only 4 sleeps to go, or 3 more workdays and then she will be mine ! Puppy preschool booked to start on Feb 22nd. Very exciting ! The first little boy went home today (he was my fave & I would have taken him too in a heart beat, such a sweetie) - he will make his new owners very happy Not long goldiegirl ! Lots of pics please when you get a chance!
  9. JessLiveDie - I think from memory, our girl came in to heat in the beginning of Sept, then got mated about 10days after (i think!), then 9 weeks & the pups were born ! So really, you're looking at just over 2 months! Then of course another 8wks before you can bring him home (depending on when the breeder lets them go!) ;) When is she due to come in to season ?
  10. Thanks JessLiveDie ! Will def post some pics once I have her home and in my arms forever ! JulesP - Thank you very much, she is so very cute indeed !!! #4 - Wow thats wonderful !! I hope you have had many wonderful memories with your old girl GoldieGirl - wow what a wonderful quick journey for you!!! I have been waiting a year for my girl !! lol Lots of pics please !!! Are you getting another goldie ?? Chosen a name for her yet ??
  11. Hello again JulesP - long time no chat! Amber is just beautiful !! So up to #3 now ? I remember when you got the 2nd one - we are getting #2 finally on Saturday !!!! We decided to go a Rough Collie this time instead of another border, Zorro is very active, so wanting something a little different this time round - so I chose a Collie Still enough energy to play with Zorro, but also happy to chill out with me ! 6 sleeps to go and counting !! The breeder confirmed that we will be getting that girl for sure, as she is most suited to us, very affectionate & cuddly - not as energetic as the others, so that will suit me just fine ! Just hoping Zorro will take to her okay ... at least we can keep them separated during the day, and just supervised play while we are home Soooo exciting !!! Lets hope this week goes nice and quick - having Tues off will help !!
  12. Looks like lots of exciting times ahead for everyone !!! Thunder is a great name !! ThatTyeGuy - how cute is your little man !!! Just watch him grow over the next few weeks ! I can't believe how much my girl changed in a few weeks, and by the time we pick her up, she will be heaps bigger again!
  13. Thanks Jesslivedie ! Its a long but rewarding wait ! Its nice being part of it from the beginning and knowing all about your pup before they are even born !
  14. Hello fellow waiters !! :D We too are waiting for a puppy, have been waiting for nearly a year for her, and of course it was never confirmed that we would get one until they were born last month! But alas, there was a girl for us, so I am sooo excited !! We are getting a Collie Rough, they are few & far between in Brisbane, so luckily we found a wonderful breeder, then waited for the process for the girl to come in to heat, get mated, confirm pregnany then have the litter - so its been great being apart of it from the very beginning! Although the wait seems to have lasted forever ! The pups were 7 weeks old earlier this week, and we are picking her up on Sat 30th jan - so 8.5wks We are so excited, but like you, scared of the puppy stage too! When we got Zorro, he was 15wks old, so its a bit of a difference from having an 8wk old in the house, so the process is quite daunting sometimes, and I want to make sure we are doing all the right things !! We have everything ready for her at home, lots of toys, food, bedding, leash etc - now just need the puppy! I have called her Leilani (Hawaiian for Heavenly Blossom) - but we will call her Lani ! Will post a pic shortly! :D
  15. Hello ! We just noticed over the last few days that Zorro's coat has some longer tufts of fur growing - just like there was when he was losing his puppy fur and the shiny coat started coming through. Does this mean he is about to have another coat growth spurt ?? He'll be 12 mths old on 5/12 ! (time flies !!!)
  16. I agree with you Centitout - sometimes positive reinforcement is not enough. We've just gone through that with Zorro, and had a RAAF/police dog handler come out and fix up Zorros dominance issues. He stayed with us a few hours, and we were very amazed to find that Zorro changed from then !! We were told by others that it will be a long process and can takes months etc, but our dog has changed sooo much, I can't believe the difference in him.
  17. Try 'challenging' the dogs by staring at them - this will show who is leader ! When the dog becomes uncomfortable, it will start either licking its lips (not like a hunger type - but more just wetting!) or it will yawn - dont stop just keep staring in to their eyes - when the dog looks away, or even better, puts its head down - you have won. Thats what we did with Zorro and the change is amazing.
  18. I thought Ridgeback straight away - she does sit like a rotti, as Allerzeit said - across the chest. But that is all the rotti i can see. Definately Ridge, can't see the Cattle in there ! I even thought american staffy eyes from the first photo - but not so much in the others.
  19. Oh okay, thanks Cath! I didn't know much about it. I just thought it would be interesting to see how he would look with different ears.
  20. Hi Guys, I've got a border collie, and his ears are quite floppy - i was wondering if anyone knows where i can either buy over the net, or anywhere in sth/west suburbs where I could buy some tape. I heard you can use this for their ears to sit up better. Thanks alot !
  21. Hello! Just wanting any feedback on the above products - as to whether they make a difference in the appearance of the dogs coat ?? We have a border collie who i would like to 'bulk' up ! :-) Thanks everyone~!
  22. hey Monah... Are you another Jane Harper success story ?? C
  23. Is he no good ? he was recommended to us by our vet. Anyone dealt with him or Tracey?
  24. Thanks Husky. I think i must have been unlucky, as both times I've written to her, its taken a few days to reply. Damn internet problems !! Did you try anyone else? How long until your problem was fixed ? Did you notice a change in your dog straight away ?
