  1. I would still call an emergency Vet and get advice over the phone
  2. I use the powder and I think it's great The treats are very cheap (as is the powder) on here http://www.greyhoundproductsdirect.com.au/....htm#JointGuard
  3. There is a dol member who buys it cheaper from overseas http://www.dolforums.com.au/?showtopic=104541
  4. Slighty off topic- sorry I have used the anxiety drops from this company and they work great
  5. Hi Cosmolo Just wondering how Dexter is going?
  6. Cosmolo, she has problems with both hips and was very very sore with one, intermittent weight bearing NSAIDs daily ,montly cartrophen, lots of confinement, then it would start all over again Now she's lucky to need half a NSAID a month and last Vet check, Vet said if she hadn't seen her X rays she wouldn't know she had HD
  7. Glad you and Dexter were impressed, They are very thorough there, which is great good luck, I hope it helps Dexter I might see you down there one day
  8. Hi Cosmolo Just wondering if you went to dogs in motion and if so, how did you go?
  9. I've not heard of that procedure before Cosmolo sounds very interesting would be interested to know whats involved good luck, hope you have a speedy recovery
  10. It is very normal for them to want to go on 3 legs because it's faster for him once the muscle builds up a bit more he should feel more confident using 4 legs all of the time Unless there is signs of infection- like redness or swelling then I would think there is no need to take the nylon out, he's had a big operation and yes his body should adjust
  11. With the nylon ligament this can be quite common at the stage you are at You should definately have him on lead to slow him up which encourages him to weight bear on the leg. Doggy physio should really help with this
  12. I have heard great things about Wing Tip too good luck with your decision, please let us know how you go
  13. Where is this located? Have a feeling it is not Sydney. No it's not in Sydney, but there is one that is Sydney Animal Physiotherapy they have an underwater treadmill can't see anything about a swimming pool though There are also newer NSAIDs around now that aren't as bad with the side affect, like Previcox Long term Catrophen is not a problem but Carprophen is
  14. My girls has hip displasia She is also on Cartrphen injections and joint guard, was told she would be needing surgery if no improvement We took her to dogs in motion and she went once a week for 4 weeks in the underwater treadmill as well as us being given excercises to do with her at home and daily massage for us to do on her as well The underwater treadmill did wonders for the muscle wastage and we were then taking her swimming once a week for maintenance. My girl will not be needing surgery, and if she startsto stiffen up I will start her swimming there again I swear by Dogs in Motion, they are absolutely fantastic
  15. I'm so sorry for your loss you are not a bad Mummy, you were trying to make her better RIP baby Charlotte
  16. Hi Wayne sorry to hear about your Malamute having pancreatitis In regards to your questions Can they die from it? It would depend on how severe it is and if they get treatment straightaway If they have it really bad, then they need to be on IV fluids to keep them hydrated and no food for 24 to 72 hours Some times they need medication for pain, and to stop them vomiting and so on It is usually cause by too much fat in the diet So a really plain diet will indeed help but sometimes if their liver has been badly affected then they will need a prescription type food
  17. I'm so very sorry for your loss RIP Pippin
  18. Hi LA-OC I would ask them when you have your next appointment
  19. I have a friend is Tasmania that wants to swim her dog that has HD Does anyone know of any heated pools in Tassie for dogs?
  20. Hi LA-OC how often you need to go would depend on what you are trying to achieve I would recommend you ask the lovely staff at Dogs in Motion how often they suggest My girl has HD and I was taking her weekly, but have now dropped back to fortnightly as that seem to be enough for her now
  21. Thats terrible I emailed them ages ago when looking for a pool closer to me, I asked them what they do with dogs that don't like water and they said "we just throw them in" with that attitude it's no wonder they closed down Needless to say I didn't bother going there, my girl doesn't like water, but at Dogs in motion they managed to get her in the pool without her freaking , they are great even though my girl still doesn't like water, she is always in a hurry to get inside to see the ladies working there, and I put her in the pool without her struggling and she is not in a hurry to get out either
  22. Thank you very much That's great, I am going to start swimming for that exact reason. I need to build up Byron's chest muscles. Where abouts is the Mornington one? Do you know what it is called? It's called Aqua paws, I think it's closer to Frankston, there's a link on here, on the advertisers page I have never been there, have just seen the link
  23. Hi FBC there is one at Diggers rest, and the only other one I know of is at Mornington We go every week to Dogs in motion, everyone is lovely and the pool is so clean BTW the one at Diamonds has been closed permanately since October
