Do you have any thing positive to say about the breed PPS, all we ever get from you is your sprouting of how irresponsible all APBT owners are. Most people know how you feel about APBT and your feelings on how all owners are flouting the laws and they are the cause of BSL. After reading a number of your posts in the last few months, i question if it happened at all, just so happens that its a APBT, and its next door to you...and you got to see it,It gives you a good chance to try and confirm what you have been babbling on about!! Sheesh, thats some coincidence isnt it!!!!!!!!!
-
and that would make you happy wouldnt it PPS, what about all the people that do the right thing.

I couldn't give a toss about the media. Most of them wouldn't know a pitbull from a poodle anyway. I do care about intentional law breaking when it rebounds on responsible dog owners. And believe me, every negative media article has flow on effects for dogs. There is a place in Australia where it is completely legal to own an APBT. If you give a damn about your breed why not move here, bring them out of hiding and explode the stereotype whilst obeying the law. Two hours south of Sydking's current residence he woudn't be facing any of these issues unless he raised a dangerous dog. The best advice I can give is to move to the ACT. Or does that require a little more commitment than most of the die hard APBT fans encouraging unlawful behaviour are prepared to give? Thats half the problem isnt it PPS, not knowing the difference between a pitbull and a poodle. Are you some kind of angel PPS, have you ever gone over the speed limit??? if so get of ya high horse about it being illegal. These dogs are here, and here to stay.

Damned good post mate, At least the people who log on here, come here to increase there knowledge, not just about there breed of dog, but how to be a responsible owner, for every 1 person who logs on and takes the time to learn, theres a million others who go on there merry way, so some credit should be given for taking taking the time to learn.

I dont think because the owner kept the dog on a short leash when people were walking by makes him a "stupid" owner, if anything he is being more responsible than an owner who would let there dog annoy people going past, that goes for any breed not just ABPT. I keep Scoobs on a short leash when people walk by, and let me give you the tip, i am not a "stupid" owner.

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=660837 Staffordshire terriers and rottweilers are the two most common dog breeds associated with attacks on people in NSW, with 69 attacks reported across the state last financial year. Fifty-one of the victims were hospitalised, while 18 of the attacks resulted in court action. NSW Local Government Minister Barbara Perry said Sydney's western suburbs experienced the highest number of incidents compared to other regions, with 18 of the attacks occurring in the Greater Western region. "All dogs can be unpredictable and have the potential to bite," Ms Perry said. To raise awareness among schoolchildren in kindergarten and years one and two, accredited animal experts are giving demonstrations in NSW primary schools on how to behave around dogs, and what to do if they are attacked. They aim to educate 250,000 students by next June. Ms Perry said dog owners found to be acting irresponsibly faced fines of up to $55,000 and/or two years in prison. "Owners of dangerous dogs must desex the dog, ensure it is kept in an enclosure that meets set safety standards, and display a clearly visible dangerous dog sign on the property," she said.

Chatted to the bloke at windchill and what they stock isnt really what i'm after, evan thou one of the scooters would be good. Seemed like a good bloke and was very helpfull. Clover, would the flyball harness be suitable just for walks as well, or do you think a tracking harness would be better and do you still have good control over him?
-
Thanks for the replies guys, Will look in Aus first i think, the windchill site looks the goods, might give them a ring and see what they think.
-
I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction of a store in Aus that i can get a good quality harness, i have heard you can get a harness that puts most of the pressure on the dogs shoulders, and not his throat. We run every morning, and i let him pull me like they do in weightpull for some distance, so i want to find something that doesnt interfere with his breathing or cause permanent damage. Cheers

Yep, oily fish is the way to go, i get some of those home brand mackeral in natural oil, cheap as and he loves it, sardines and tuna are the go as well. i usually mix it in with his kibble, but you could do it with a bit of rice as well. he hasnt put on any fat and is looking real conditioned, it took about 3 months to start seeing the results.
-
What other premium foods are available besides Euk, i have been feeding my boy euk for a year or so now, and seems to enjoy it, evan thou i have to add a tin fish with it, but if there is another brand out there that doesnt have the corn, i would look at giving that a go. A few people have commented on how conditioned he is looking, and has put on about 4 kilos in the last 7 months ( since i started mixing tuna and mackeral with it).

Yep, Scoobs loves his roo tails, as was said, the bone is fairly small. One thing is for sure, they dont take long to disappear, the only thing i hate, is having to skin them first.
-
So sorry for your loss CC , Thinking of you and your family at this time.

no, hes been spaded

On Saturday i noticed that Scoobs was peeing a bit of blood, so off to the vets we went, Now Sccobs has been on antibiotics for the last 2 weeks, so the vet was a little perplexed as to what it could be as normally he would prescribe what he was on for a bladder infection etc etc, the only thing that had changed in the proceeding days was we changed the antibiotic he was on to a stronger one as is infection wasnt getting any better with the one he was on. On Saturday night i noticed that he wasnt peeing any blood anymore, and hasnt since, could it have been the change in antibitics ?? I have to get a sample and take it in tomorrow but was wondering what peoples thoughts are. Cheers
-
Thanks for all the replies guys and gals, he started on the new coarse today, and is due back at the vets next Thrusday. Paws crossed
-
Thats good advice about the length as to where it gets docked, cheers. Yep, fingers crossed Luvabull that the next course of antibiotics work t.
-
My boy got bitten on the tail, and has been healing well, last night the vet said that he might have a bone infection in the tail, and if the next dose of antibiotics dont work, they may have to dock his tail, has anyone been thru this, is it a big procedure?? Is there any other means of fixing this with out taking his tail off, as i would prefer for it to stay on.
