Lottie, love your choice!! Piper, mine was a custom order.

Woohoo. Photos. I lurve my bag so much! It is very pretty and better than I had originally imagined it. I would suggest this lovely purple/chocolate combo to others.

He was fine. He was still crying when I left but I left treats hidden about the place as a treasure hunt, a kong with some peanut butter, and a little toy which he had to roll around to get treats from. All the treats were gone when I got home so I assume it kept him busy. My mum and aunty checked up on him during the day and he was happy.

Lottie, I like combo 2. My bag arrived today but it is waiting for me at the post office. So I'll be picking it up tomorrow! Finally my camera will be warm and snug at night.

Loving all the new puppy pics and to those who see their pups next weekend... have fun and take lots of pics!! Huga and The Fenstar, had any accidents yet? Jakemon, Tess has grown up sooo fast!!

He does like quite serious but it's a cover. I love his little eyebrows. He always looks like he is frowning or thinking.

Fuzzy, thanks for the crate advice. Archie does really well with the crate over night. But I would never leave him in it while I am at work. I'm away for 8 hours on the days I work and I would like for him to have room to move outside. Also, he is only a pup and wouldn't be able to hold on for 8 hours in a crate. Although I can understand how this would work for older dogs. So here is the update. I've been trying to get Archie use to being out in the run over the last couple of days. But he is still crying and howling and it is so sad to listen to. I can't imagine what my neighbour thinks. I only take him out of the run when he has been quiet for a few minutes and I never make a fuss about getting him out. But how long will this last? I work tomorrow and I will be away from home for 8 hours. It isn't possible to check on him at lunch because I work too far away. Do I just keep doing what I am doing? I assume this is normal? At the moment he is crying anywhere from 15 - 45 minutes. I try to increase his time in there a bit longer each time. I leave a kong, fresh water and a few different toys out there but he is too busy worrying to show any interest in them. I'm a bit worried about leaving him alone for the first time tomorrow.

The dinner tonight didn't end up happening. So that's a good start. Now I can focus on positive training. I have tomorrow off as well but I'm back to work on Wednesday. So he has been out there with us to play and hang out. Treats have been rewarded when he uses the kennel. I will feed him his dinner out there tonight? And I might give him 5 minutes by himself afterwards and bring him back in when he is calm? I guess I'll do the same thing tomorrow but slowly increase the amount of time? How long does the crying usually last?

Sorry, I should of mentioned, we have been taking him out each day and playing with him in the crate and giving treats etc. Gradually introducing him to the pen a little more each day. It's just today is the first time we've left him alone. I will try what you've suggested. Thanks!

Hi, just reviving this thread again. Archie is home now and whilst he is great with the crate then outside pen is a different matter. We have been home with him since he has arrived. But tonight we are going out to dinner with friends and we want him outside while we aren't home. We have him outside now as a test run for tonight and he won't stop crying. I have toys and a kong out there for him but he is showing no interest. Any advice?

Sorry about the photo delay. Half of my photos are blurry. He moves so fast!! But here is one I took yesterday morning. He is very clever, already knows how to sit and he sleeps well during the night.

This is week one of Archie. I took this yesterday.

Thanks everyone! Archie fits in so well here. My first night was pretty good. A bit of crying at first, but putting my hand near the crate seemed to calm him pretty quickly. A few potty runs and then he slept through to 7:30! Of course I'm still pretty tired due to the interrupted sleep but I wouldn't have it any other way. Trying to get him use to his collar. He doesn't seem to like it. I've only had it on him for ten or so minutes. But I've been teaching him some sitting today and he is catching on really fast. And he knows that the crate is definitely his bed. He is great!

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful boy!! Aren't they so much fun!! Love the zoomie pictures.

Kitkat, I will definitely join the 52 weeks thread! We have had three people visit him. I wasn't going to allow visitors on the first day home but he has settled in so well. He hasn't had a single accident. He has been asleep a lot of the time. At first he wasn't sleeping in the crate he was sleeping outside it. Isn't he just beautiful. I love his nature. He also seems to really like belly rubs. So cute!

Sorry for the delay. I'm just about to post some pictures in Archie's thread. link I had a short notice interview for a high profile job today so it's been quiet chaotic. But Archie is a real gentleman and has settled really REALLY well.

Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted my own dog. But my Mum, not being an animal person never let me have the responsibility of owning a dog (there was lots of tears over the matter when I was younger). When I was independent of Mum, I had to wait just tiny bit longer until I was in a place that was suitable for a dog. It all fell into place at the same time. It was meant to be! My OH and I were offered a place that was dog friendly, and the same weekend we found out we had this place I was contacted by Kerry from Ngalla, saying that she had a litter on the ground and asked if I was interested. I had registered my interest with Kerry a long time earlier, and I had been asked a couple of times before but the time was not right and I had to say no. This time I realised I could say yes, so that's what I did!! I've already shared my boy with the Aussie people in the breed sub forum, and the people in the 'Waiting for a Puppy' thread. But thought that he should be shared with the rest of DoL. We went to see the litter when they were 1 week old. For my OH, this was his first time meeting the breed in person. He fell in love instantly. When we went back to visit when they were 4 weeks old we fell in love with one pup in particular... When they were about 5 weeks old it was decided that the black tri boy would be ours and we named him Archer. I have been calling him Archie though. We went back to visit again when they were 6 weeks old. It was so fun and we could start to see the differences in personalities. I loved Archie's personality and I was very confident in my choice. Plus he is a super cutie. How could you not love this face? Here is a short video of Archie when he was 6 weeks: link But he is home now! He was so good in the car ride home. Got a little sick but otherwise he was great. He's had a look around and seems to have settled in okay. He's ventured into the crate a few times but at the moment he is sleeping outside the crate.

I slept really well too! But that's only because I stayed up late and made my self super tired on purpose. Had a bit of a sleep in, which was nice. It will probably be my last one for a while.

Ziva is soooo cute!! It took about two weeks for the tag to arrive. I wish I had ordered a bigger one because it is smaller than what I expected. Oh well. Huga, today is the day!! Are you as excited as I am!!
-
Awesome! Sid can bond with you. Because OH does uni long distance he is usually away Mon - Fri. He is sad that Archer might bond better with me because he will be away so much. Of course, I don't mind.
-
Same here. My OH is coming home from uni tonight instead of tomorrow so I might be able to pick up Archie earlier in the day. Fingers crossed.
-
Yep only one sleeeeeep! Very excited here! Can't believe after 20 years of wanting a dog I will finally own my first pup tomorrow. D&R, the Tug-a-Jug is awesome! I thought I could only get it online but then I saw it in stock at a pet store here. Nadine, cocker spaniels are soooo cute! I hope you have fun with her. It should make the wait go quicker. Huga, can't wait to see pics tomorrow!!!! How excited are you? I won't be able to sleep tonight!!
-
Huga, you are very creative! The lead came out well. And I will definitely check out Big W tomorrow for some toys. And also the reject shop. Some shopping will make the last day go fast. Only two more sleeps!! Starting to get very excited and a little bit nervous. Here is the collection of toys I have. Of course some I've bought for when Archie is bigger. I also have bowls which aren't shown and a blankie which I left with the breeder at our last visit.
-
Haha. Nice little stock pile there Huga. I'll have to take a picture of mine too. I have trouble finding fluffy toys that don't have a squeaker in them. I want a fluffy toy that he can sleep with at night that won't keep us up all night! Lol.

Goldbaby, I like Harvey or Byron. D&R, I like Rumour as well! Unique name. Cassie, are you looking at getting another pup? If so, which breed would you get?
