  1. Thanks guys. Yes he is growing up so fast. Although, I don't mind. He is growing into such a cuddle-bug which is what I always hoped for in a dog. Huga, Archie had the snip yesterday, hence the cone of shame. Is it the same story for Sid?
  2. Oh golly gosh. I fell so far behind in uploading my pics. I even had a week that I was so busy I forgot to take a photo. D: I won't add them all here, but I'll add them to the group. Otherwise I feel like I'm spamming the thread. Here is my most recent shot of Archie. He just had the snip today: SammieS: love the lighting in your shots. AnnieK: Zoomie shots are the best and most amusing! I love the upward angle of your second shot. Really unique. And the black and white really adds to it. Wagsalot: Riley has such a happy smiley face. Helen: Your shots are always so creative. I love the winged bike as an artwork by itself, but using it as a backdrop is even better. Snook: I often change my mind. It's similar to art, you have to take a break and then re-look at it with fresh eyes. It makes a big difference. And you've captured such a gorgeous face. Especially your recent shot. I love the urban look. And how cool is that collar? Weibritty: I agree with Marlo about the cold. The weather has been similar down here too! Yuck! And the gardening shot made me smile. So cute. RallyValley: Not boring at all! It almost looks like hide and seek. Very cute. I love the recent photo of Toby. His fur looks great in that reddish light. MTD: I need to get Archie one of those toys. Gila: Love the brick backdrop and grey floor. Suits the red and white fur of your pup. :D And your recent duotone action shot is awesome. Lottie: Great action shot! I'm jealous of Lottie's weaving skills. Well not me.. but Archie. Clicking Mad: Wow you have some great shots! I hope you are feeling better now. I love the shot with the awesome beanie (seriously.. where did you get that?). The blue tones of the image contrast nicely with the red beanie and liver nose. ;) And that last black and white photo is really cool. I love the high contrast against a white background. I guess it helps that the subject is naturally black and white. tlc: I love the shot of them all on the bed. Eventingpony: I can't wait for puppy pics. :D Don't worry, I joined at the end of January after my pup came home.
  3. I've been pretty happy with some of the recent photos I've taken of Archie over winter and I thought I would share him with the rest of DoL. I tend to stick to the Aussie thread. Although it's just a hobby, I don't mind constructive criticism and feedback. I love it!
  4. My puppy came home on my lap. Although it was only a 30 minute drive and he did get carsick. So bring a towl to put on your lap also!
  5. Snook, which presets are you using? I've just got LR so I'm keen to download some good presets.
  6. Cassie - Aggghh TOO cute! I've always had such a soft spot for Bernese Mountain Dogs... one day I will own one. Your new addition is so cute and I've always been a Zephyr fan. Your new location looks stunning! I also have an empty block waiting to built on. Just waiting for OH to finish uni. Mind you... my block doesn't have a creek running through it! There are a couple of lovely Bernese Mountain Dogs at the dog school I go to on the weekends. We were often asked if Archie was a Bernese Mountain Dog when he was younger. LOL. Huga - Likewise! But Sid still looks like a cute cute puppy. Archie has just really sprouted. How do you get yours to stay so cute. Lola and Sid make such a cute pair. It's been awesome fun watching him grow and your photos are beautiful as always. Love the tilted head. Love your rug (LOL). Love face licks. Love the subtle sun rays.
  7. Sorry for posting three weeks in a row. I've been taking the photos, but they are poor efforts. Usually taken on the Sunday so I don't miss the week. Agh. I've been so busy. Everyone else is posting great shots. Time for me to get inspired. Archie is 5 months old now. Week 12/52 Week 13/52 Week 14/52
  8. Haha Sheena. That pic is priceless! Sutton and Zoro are such cuties! Can't wait to watch them grow. Finally I have some more pics of Archie from the last few weeks.. He is five months old now. Where did that time go???
  9. Wow.... everyone's pups have grown so much!! And welcome to the new additions. They are all equally cute. :D Archie is 5 months old now. I will post some photos soon. I can say that he is just getting better and better everyday. He makes my fiance and I laugh so much.
  10. OH wants to purchase some bicycles and train up for a 100km fundraising ride which is to be held next year. I've always considered bike riding and possibly exercising my Australian Shepherd by having him run along side with a walky dog attachment. So a few questions. How do I begin to introduce my pup to the idea of exercising beside the bike? What steps do I need to take? How old does he have to be before he can begin to exercise alongside the bike? At the moment he is nearly 5 months old and he is an Australian Shepherd.

  12. I had the crate in the bedroom at first. It was next to the bed and when Archie cried, putting my hand on the side of the crate seemed to settle him instantly. It was good because he would whine several times a night to be let out for potty breaks and we could hear him. When he was able to sleep through the night without any potty breaks he was moved to the lounge. This works well as we can put him in there and he settles quickly because he is in a central spot where he can see us and what we are doing. I would suggest 'Crate Games' by Susan Garrett. It's a great DVD. You just want to make sure the pup associates the crate as a good thing. Every time Archie goes in the crate he gets a treat. If he is going to be in there for a prolonged period he gets a kong with stuffing. ETA: Once Archie is put to bed in the crate at night time he doesn't get any food or water. But up until then water is available. Also, I bought a crate that would suit him as a fully sized adult but as a smaller puppy I used a crate divider to section off half of it.
  13. King Tip is adorable! Hope he gets better soon.
  14. Wagsalot, the search bar on your website isn't responsive for me? Can't type in the box or click 'advanced search' or anything. I was going to search for kyjen toys. ;) But I have bookmarked this thread! Archie is in need for new toys. His favourite at the moment is his puppy Kong Wubba. He hasn't grown into the adult Wubba yet. He also loves plush toys. At the moment his Racoon EZ Squeaker and his Squatter toys are prooving popular. http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2445&ParentCat=33 http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=786&ParentCat=33
  15. Poocow - Great shots! Love the jackets. Especially Moo's. It fits right in with the name! :D Binx - Love the dappled light. Looks like a great spot for a walk. I'm jealous! Katalily - Love the black and white! Our dogs all look so peaceful when they are sleeping. Annie - Sorry to hear about his pain. But it does look like he loves his time at the beach! The water looks lovely and clear. Any trick to getting dogs to like the water? Archie is new to the beach and hasn't taken to the water yet. RallyValley - Great action snap. Sounds like the dogs got their instincts mixed up. And yeah, Archie is growing up too quickly!! Sammie - Lovely shot of Asti. Wagsalot - Riley has the cutest 'puppy eyes'. Almost as if he is begging for a longer photo shoot. ;) Glad you were able to get a shot this week. Hope you get better quickly! Evolving - Wow! Love the texture shot. It's nice to see the detail of his coat. Gila - This is one of my favourite shots this week. It's as if Spencer has accidentally creeped into the photo. It feels like he is staring right at me! Haha. Love it. Can't help you with photobucket sorry, I use flickr.
  16. Wowie. I'm loving all the recent shots. You guys keep raising the bar! I need to be waaaay more creative. Here are my last two weeks. Week 8/52 - Archer at 15 weeks old. Week 9/52 - Archer at 16 weeks old.
  17. Love the new photos of Sid and Rebus! I can relate to Quinn's teen troubles. I'm having some of my own with Archie. Here is a video of him being naughty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEiagTH8mq0 Edit: I have got some great advice over at the Aussie thread so hopefully he won't be a naughty pup for too much longer. :D
  18. My pup is becoming a little bit more cuddlier each day. I'm loving it. I always loved affectionate dogs over independant dogs.
  19. When do pups start and stop teething? Archie's ears always flip inside out.
  20. Stella is suuuuch a cutie!!! You should definitely go to the Obedience Club. I'm at the Eastern Shore Obedience Club. Great fun for the pup and I. OH and I started the training with Archie last night. It didn't take long for him to associate the sound of the door opening with sitting. But we plan on making sure it's really ingrained in his mind before we go to stage two. Wow!! He is a handsome pup. I love tri colours on any breed. Can't wait to watch him grow up. Archie tried this as well at his very first puppy class. I was surprised that a puppy knew this behavior. LOL. :p She sounds like an angel! We need photos ASAP. :p And Dandybrush, love the new pics. Love the little jumper.
  21. Wasgsalot, both are great shots but I love the composition of the first one.
  22. That's fair enough Panzer. Sounds like you've found a good balance. Speaking of obedience, my Crate Games DVD arrived today!! I'll start the training tomorrow when Archie and I aren't so tired. Does anyone have this at the moment? And if so, how is your puppy going with it?
  23. Agreed! I use to love reading about Hugo before I got my own pup.
  24. The Staffy x is desexed and has gotten along fine with another adult dog that it has met. He must just dislike Archie? I dunno. I guess we'll be keeping them apart for a while. The Staffy x is a great dog otherwise. Completely calm and friendly. Unfortunately he was found abandoned near a highway with no history. Poor thing. I would love to adopt an adult dog one day. Maybe after OH and I have finished building our house... who knows? But Archie had a great play with a friendly dog at the beach today. And this adult dog was shorter than him. It was great because Archie hasn't worked up enough courage to go into the water yet (he'll get his paws wet but that's it), but when he saw this other dog run into the water he begun to copy! Archie wouldn't go as deep though. I hope I have a water dog because I love the beach. Panzer, are you not taking Scooter to puppy school because he humped other dogs? Just making sure I haven't misread that. I loooove puppy school. My friend and I can't wait to get our dogs into obedience and/or agility later on.
  25. Naomi, without seeing them its hard to say. If they are a bit older than Arch it could be that they are trying to discipline him if he's too full on. But that should just be a snarl and maybe a gentle lay down and then back off. But at their age they probably don't have the self control yet to know what is an acceptable about of discipline and may go over the top. Are they doing this as soon as they see each other or after a reasonable amout of play? If its after a reasonable amount of time, perhaps the pups are tired. I have no problem with an older dog disciplining my pup if its warranted, but I take exception to another dog growling or snapping at any of my dogs for no reason. With the Rottweiler pup, it is after a reasonable amount of play. So probably due to tiredness. With the Staffy x, at first it seemed like a discipline thing. They played okay for a while but then the Staffy seemed to get fed up with Archie. Now whenever he sees Archie he seems to growl and try to bite Archie if he gets too close. We tried to walk them on together on neutral ground today and that seemed to work okay until Archie got too close to the Staffys owner and then he got really protective all of a sudden. I might steer clear of that dog for a while... It's a hard one because their Staffy gets along perfectly fine with another adult dog which makes me think it is just Archie. Also, does anyone elses pup bark in their sleep? Archie doesn't open his mouth. It is more like a muffled bark. Here is a new photo of my cheeky boy at 14 weeks old.
