The name Charlie suits him. Very cute! You guys are making me so puppy clucky. My dog toys arrived yesterday and my partner was like "Seeing them makes me really want a dog now!". It's becoming a bit more real now. Rather than just saying for the last year that we would get a puppy, it will be happening soon... I hope!!

Thanks! This is good advice and I'll definitely keep this in mind. :D Errrm, probably not. :D I've been itching to own a dog my whole life and I feel it's a good time now. No better time than the present. I have enjoyed the experience of moving away from the parents... sort of. I've been living with my partner and his parents for a while. So in a roundabout way, I've experienced the novelty of that first fun part. :D Thanks. Hopefully I don't have to rely too much on luck. But I guess a lot of it might be chance. You can only be so prepared and as for the rest, well the control isn't in your hands. Good luck with your house hunting!

Ok so here is my update/current situation. My older brother lives in NSW, and is buying an investment home in my area. He is willing to rent it out to me and my friend (who owns a cat) and he is happy to let me have a dog but he said outside only... I was surprised he said this because he loves dogs and owns and inside Labrador and also a cat. Although my friend and I are still looking elsewhere for pet friendly rent. Soon soon! *sigh*

It worked out cheaper than buying them from Australia. I had a bit of a puppy excitement set back today. I'm waiting until my brother buys his investment house in my area because I will be renting from him and he will allow pets. I thought I would be moving into a place before Christmas BUT... he is currently looking at buying a house that already has tenants and their lease doesn't expire for 4 months. So moving out and getting a puppy is possibly going to wait until early next year.

Tell me about it! I want so many dogs, but I have decided my first will be an Australian Shepherd. I have adored them since I was a girl. But I have had my phases. I also love Bernese Mountain Dogs, Golden Retrievers, Flat Coated Retrievers, English and Welsh Springer Spaniels, and more recently... Labradors!

Loving all the new Elbie and Hoover updates! I haven't been on DOL for a while and I come back to check up on Elbie (wow he's grown up!) and I find he has a new mate. Also, lovely photos of Blossom! Good quality photos do wonders for rescue dogs. They are so much nicer and clearer than the current photos of Blossom. Hope she finds a home soon.

I just bought a whole array of toys from Clean Run. I had to pay for shipping, but I think it worked out cheaper. A medium adult kong was a third of the price of one you would find here. DOL is bad for my wallet. Now I just need the puppy to go with them.

Thanks to this thread I bought a puppy wubba for $7.48 and a medium puppy kong for $7.98. Is that considered cheap? I wouldn't know, these are the first puppy toys I've bought. Hehe.

Gosh what a coincidence. I was reading through this thread and decided to look up ferreting on youtube. Then my partners mum comes up the stairs and asked me if I wanted some rabbit for tea. The timing was great! Haha. I've never actually been offered rabbit before, so I said I'd try some.

I'm so jealous of everyone and their new pups. It's great to see! I'm hoping to get my Australian Shepherd in Nov, Dec, or Jan. I need my own place first. I hope it is sooner rather than later, because I'm itching to own my first dog. I will keep you updated.

I wanted a Border Collie for a while, and then I changed my mind to Australian Shepherds. I'm getting my Aussie hopefully at the end of this year or beginning of next year. Dream come true! Woooo!
