I love your most recent pic! It's an obvious improvement!

I'm SO excited right now! New puppy photos were added of my potential pup tonight (3 weeks old)!!! Nick and I were so excited to see them! Their eyes are open and they are all just way too cute!!! Check it out!! We are probably getting boy #1 or girl #4 link They are all so cute. I wish we could get more than one, but I know I'd be asking for trouble then.

This article helps with focusing on a particular area: link Basically if you want the eye in focus, first frame the eye in the center of the image and half click the shutter. Your camera will focus on this point and if you keep the shutter half pressed down you can move the camera and frame the rest of the body how you like, but the camera will remember the focal point was originally focused on the eye and it will remain in focus. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the online link! I don't think it aired in Tassie.

Great topic! I will hopefully join in with these challenges once I have a canon 550d. The photos posted so far are great. I love the beach photos, as walking along the beach is one of my favourite simple pleasures.

Gayle, Shae is adorable. My partner saw the first photo and also thought she was a puppy. She is beautiful though. I'm glad she's found a forever home with you and the others. But wow.. when did Isaak get so big?
-
Awesome! I'm getting a Canon 550d so hopefully I have some nice print worthy photos of my pup too. Tess sounds like a real character.
-
Jakemon, those pictures are beautiful.. but that last picture of Tess is amazing! Can I ask what camera you use? Tess is a real cutie.

Love the photo of Akira and Halo. Thought I'd share a photo of the pups when they were 1 week old. They will be 3 weeks old tomorrow, and I get to see them again next weekend when they are 4 weeks. So we might be possibly getting the black tri boy in the top left or the smaller black tri girl to the right.

I'd think working people would be up even earlier than 7am to walk the dog before heading off to work. I know once I have an older Aussie, I'll be getting up ridiculously early to make sure it has it's daily walk before heading off to work. Rain or shine.
-
It's the same for me! My first ever dog, but my boyfriend has had dogs before so it is our first as a couple. We will probably end up with a dog each down the track. Oh yay!!! So exciting!! Envy is a great name. 3 years! Wooww. I'll be expecting pics within 48 hours of her arrival. ;)

Lucky duck! I would love to work with doggies.

Yep, play around with the shutter speed a bit. Pushing it up higher will capture the subject better. If you find that the lighting is not so great and you are having to push the shutter speed a lot, try pushing up the ISO number. The higher the ISO, the better it will shoot in low light. But the higher you push the ISO the more you might see 'noise' appear in your photographs. It is all a bit of trial and error.

I can't give you any advice because I'm wondering the same thing myself. I plan for my pup to be an inside/outside dog. Inside while we are home and outside while we are away. I know that I need to treat the pup with this mindset from day one. So I will be using the crate for sleeping at night time to help with toilet training and while we are away I will have it outside in a dog pen with a kennel and a shade cloth or shade sail of some sort. Also plan to leave it with a Kong or similar toy to keep it busy while we are away.

Haha. What a great pair.

SmoothieGirl, he is such a cutie! I also love his blaze. They are one of my favourite markings across any breed that can have them. Halo sounds like fun. How does Akira play with her when she is like that? And good to hear that Leo is being so good! My pup will be my first dog as well. I'm thinking about obedience but not really sure either.
-
Leo is a great name! Wow he has such an adorable face.

Jrm, today is the day! Hope you have a fun new day with the new pup. Will be expecting some pics later on. Koemi, congrats on the pup being born! I think Papillons are one of my favourite toy breeds. Will you be showing or getting one as a pet? I wish I could take my dog to work!! I don't think they'd appreciate a puppy in a camera shop right in the middle of town. Haha.

Purple is my favourite colour and when I get a pup I reckon it's collar and leads will be purple no matter if the pup is a boy or a girl. :D

That lady was in the wrong. She may of been intimidated by Nala's size? We have a beach in my area where I plan on taking my dog when it's old enough. It has a section that is dog friendly and most people are really good actually. I saw a great dane playing in the water with it's owner and other dogs and I'm not sure how I would of felt if it had ran up to me but I knew I didn't have to worry. Almost all owners who let their dogs of the lead have great recall so I know I don't have to worry. The ones that don't I notice are usually kept on lead. Some people will walk their dogs off lead and when they are about to pass other people or dogs they will put their dog back on lead for a while. So generally I'm pretty lucky with the people that go to my local beach.

WA, this may seem weird. I had a dream last night that my puppy arrived, but it wasn't my Aussie pup.. it was Halo!! In my dream she was very playful. Haha. I guess that's what I get for reading this thread before going to bed. But oh my gosh she is so cute. So is Paddy. Good to hear that Akira likes Halo. Toolz, good to see he is settling into the crate okay. Your son looks very happy with him Jrm, not long till yours comes home! Must be so exciting. I hope you get the one you want? I'm not sure which of the litter will be mine until 8 weeks either. But we should also have a good idea before then (hopefully about 5 - 6 weeks). I just hope one of the black tri's in the litter develops a personality suitable for me. I keep buying a few doggie things here and there. Boyfriend made me buy those things that throw tennis balls really far, and I also bought a back car seat doggie cover.
-
Toolz, I'm sure he will pick it up again. Just give him some time to readjust to the crate. Can't wait to see some pics. And same goes for you WA. You must be having so much fun with Halo! I've been so puppy clucky. I needed a puppy fix and some of my friends let me meet their 13 week old Cavalier King Charles pup. But it made me more eager to have my own pup. Haha. He was so much fun.
-
Wow, I thought I was looking at some twigs at first. I love all the interesting spiders you have been posting.
-
Congrats Toolz! Sunday is not far away! Exciting!!

Very cute! I can't imagine buying a pup sight unseen. But wow! Only two more weeks. How exciting! I'm just counting the weeks between visits at the moment because the date in which my pup comes home seems too far away. Why did you change your mind about the girl Toolz? Is it because you will get the boy sooner? Any pics of the little guy?
