  1. Uncle Albers. He does really well on it. Nice small poops lol.
  2. I sent them an email yesterday arvo and got a reply last night. I ordered a 5L bottle of the apple scent Will report back when I've tried it out VJB
  3. A couple of times a year. He gets brushed a few times a week though. And because he likes to sleep in dusty craters in the yard I beat the dust out of him like a rug before letting him in the house. I also give him the occassional rub down with a wet towel if I think he needs it.
  4. Ooh what a handsome boy! I looove red and tan kelpies! Really nice photos too; I like the first one especially. I bet your friend is happy with them
  5. Aww poor Darcy. I hope he heals up quickly and is back on all four paws soon.
  6. I don't think there's anything wrong with playing tug. But I think you should also teach a release command. For me, playing tug with my dog is about having fun, but also still being in control and being able to end the game on my terms.
  7. You know how people talk about dogs being "blooded" and that once they've tasted blood, they become bloodthirsty killers from then on? Well I'm very sorry to inform you that Archie has been "pooed". From now on, he will have an insatiable appetite for poo. Baby poo will be the ultimate, but any poo will do.
  8. This dog has nuclear sclerosis: It does look a lot like a cataract. But if there are signs that Mozart's sight is deteriorating and the vet has diagnosed cataracts I would go with that. It's great that he's coping so well and is still doing his thing The only reason I know about nuclear sclerosis is cos I noticed a very slight haziness in my 8 year old dog's eyes and did a bit of research. If my boy gets cataracts and loses his eyesight I'd have to be his guide dog, he's already so friggen clumsy and unco. He manages to bump into door frames and things with normal sight!
  9. I thought that cataracts block a reflection when you shine a light into the eyes. Dogs have something called a tapetum lucidum in their eyes that reflects light back through the retina. That's normal. There is also something called lens nuclear sclerosis that is quite common in older dogs. It's a cloudiness in the eyes that can be mistaken for cataracts, but it doesn't affect the eyesight. Anyway I'm sure the vet would know how to distinguish between the two, but just thought I'd say something because of what you said about the reflection. If it turns out that Mozart doesn't have cataracts but nuclear sclerosis, there might be another cause for his confused behaviour.
  10. Jumping up and down behind my laptop yelling, "Hey! Look at me! LOOK AT ME!". Now stalking out of the room muttering, "Damn DOL...".
  11. I thought my dog was the only nutbag who did this! He goes absolutely nuts when he sees a skywriting plane/cloud trail. He doesn't care about any other kind of aircraft though, even noisy low-flying ones. I haven't been able to get him to stop barking and chasing them. He just gets SO focused on them. Nothing can break his concentration. Luckily it only seems to happen when he's in the backyard, not when we're out (although he's always on lead anyway), so I just bring him into the house until the cloud has completely faded. Will be interested to hear any suggestions on how to solve this!
  12. Me too! I'm 99.9% sure Spencer would be useless anyway and I would have no choice but to protect both of us Strangely though, I do feel safer when he's with me. Like walking at dusk/night doesn't really bother me. I'm a little more alert, but not scared like I probably would be if he wasn't with me. Spencer does occassionally do this thing at night when he's inside though. He'll suddenly hear something and rush to the front door, hackles up, barking ferociously. It scares the hell out of me when he does it cos I think, "WTF is out there??".
  13. No.. I loved that dog. Such a good boy. RIP Daddy
  14. I wouldn't think so. It was a public event and the photos belong to you, the photographer.
  15. Oops sorry, not General. In the "Amstaff at Bribie Island" thread in "In THe News".
  16. I think it was a DOLer. Someone mentioned it in a thread in General. Can't remember which thread.
  17. Hi Cos My first thought is pretty much what PF said. The only thing I'm second guessing is their 'instinctive' bites not being hard as instinctive tends to suggest reactionary and I'm not sure they would put much thought into a reactive bite. I don't know. I agree with PF too. SG: once when I was cutting my dog's nails, I accidentally cut the quick and he turned and grabbed my hand then released it immediately. I consider that a reactionary bite because he was responding to the pain, and was already stressed out because he doesn't like his feet held/nails cut. And yet he inhibited the bite, didn't break skin and released immediately.
  18. i.e nips at the idiot who thought it was a good idea to come over the top of him and pat him on the top of his head. Aren't these people supposed to know something about dogs?? Why the hell is someone trying to pat the dog on the head? An unknown dog who is in pain no less. Poor boy. I hope he survives the RSPCA.
  19. Just too cute! If he lived with me, he'd probably be a very fat dog by now. Don't think I could resist that!
  20. Hey Deshonko, I have just what you need for the Mother's Day sale. A super rare breed of dog. So rare in fact that he is the only one of his kind. This fantastic new breed doesn't have a name yet. So I was thinking that you could run a naming competition and then give the winner a puppy. Or two. Stripes are the new black.
  21. lol Kirislin that second pic is freaky!
  22. Ooh pretty! What lens is it?
