Hi, Just wondering what are peoples opinons/experiences with these two products? Both dogs are currently on several different things but it is easier and cheaper to do an all in one  Thanks Natasha

Hi, I would take him to a dog club and just socialise still with kids. Have you started him on the clicker yet? if not its a great time to start and you can just click every time he is sitting nicely. Like Toilet Duck said they are extremely smart and i have to go through all Novas obedience work everyday otherwise he will be climbing the walls. Good luck let us know how it goes. Natasha

What Do You And Your Dog/s Do?
Sayreovi replied to KitKat's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Im only trying out new things to see which one they will like best and then we will concentrate on that, im not going to make them do something they wont enjoy after they have learnt it, the main things i am doing though actively are the usual Obedience, Agility and Flyball. ohh and conformation isnt really a dog sport Nova thinks the only reason he is there to get pats and everyone to look at him Natasha -
Havent finished reading it yet but a new book i got is called Train the Wolf in your Dog by Diane Morgan. Its basically all about dog behaviour, its not the compare the wolf to your dog sort a thing just explains them in their own right. Its really hard to explain but its a great book so far

What Do You And Your Dog/s Do?
Sayreovi replied to KitKat's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Where do i start haha, Im training Nova in Obedience Agility Flyball Conformation Pet Therapy/CGC Tracking Endurance (trying) Retrieving Trials Want to move to QLD so he can do Lure Coursing and get titles (trying) to do Frisbee hes not too happy about running and catching prefers to go out stand there and then let me throw it for him to catch. I am aways willing to try everything so if new things come up i will give them ago too Darcy is also be trained in obedience, Therapy and is practicing on standing still for more then 2 seconds (conformation) I think thats it Natasha -
I would have thought vets would have been one of the safest places to take puppies? They go there for vaccinations so you are risking them at that time as well. Im taking Darcy to puppy preschool its unfortunately not for a few weeks : we have 2 vets in town both around the same time 1 free 1 not, so i decided im going to both mainly because the one thats not free starts before the free one. I have been taking Darcy everwhere at the moment, down the street etc. hes been to a nursing home already and he was very quite and just wanted cuddles, if there is a home nearby see if you can take your pup in, good for the dog lots of different people with wheelchairs etc. great socialization and its 99% risk free. Thanks Natasha

Vet Told Me To Switch From Barf
Sayreovi replied to Divine Angel's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Do what you want, if your happy on BARF keep going at least you know Jasmine is getting, the vet doesnt know what Jasmine is like only you do -
Just finished bathing my two, Nova doesnt like it but like most he will stand quietly and tolerate it. I do have to watch him because as soon as he sees a chance to get out he will. I havent actually gave Nova a bath at home for about a year he usually goes to the local groomer before shows (turns out nicer) but i thought if Darcy saw Nova have a bath he will see it as nothing to be scared of big mistake! It was Darcys first bath here and MY GOD he screamed and cried like there was no tomorrow, it was embarassing i had to do it with one person so i was trying to hold him, hold the food/treat and try and bath him at the same time. However like Nova he loves being towel dried and was loving it, so now i have two nice smelling dogs lying asleep at my feet Thanks Natasha

Novice Needing Help With Barking Pup
Sayreovi replied to a topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hi, Another thing is retrieve, instead of walking through a ball or something until he or you are exhausted he will then more then likely fall asleep. A word of warning though they will retrieve and retrieve until they drop. What worked with Nova was the morning walk for about half an hour to a hour and then a hour walk in the afternoon off lead. This is too much for a 13 week old but a quick walk around the block in the morning with a couple of retrieves should tire and not over do the exercise. Good Luck and let us know how you go with Blaize!!! Natasha & Nova -
Really? where abouts are you i would be interested in that with my new puppy Novas 2 years old so he is too old
-
Nova gets fed BARF patties and mostly home cooked food for tea in the morning he gets a chook frame and one of those dentastick thingys (loves em) I have noticed he is more active (is it possible? ) but he did have a quiet time for about a week after the switch i think he was sulking , coats gorgeous laying flat for once!! and a bit straighter then usual and his poo is smaller and there is less of it i realise (just got of poo duty). Ohh he also gets about a handful of that Optimum dry food with tea. Thanks Natasha p.s he is a full grown Toller entire male with very high levels of energy
-
I personally hate those Greenie chew things and so does Nova. At the expo i think there was a stall and me being me i was interested i ask if all dogs love them? he goes yes they all do. The guy noticed i had Nova with me so he offered him one, here i was thinking that he would take it and chew it. Nope he flatly refused it gave it a lick then wouldnt touch it. So Nova doesnt like them much to the dismay of the stall dude, as i always buy a few of everything that Nova likes and actually eats. Thankfully he hasnt eaten one so i have never encountered a green thickshake in the yard ;)
-
Now i can do it i have successfully changed Nova into a BARFer after a few hiccups 1. what do you feed? A BARF pattie for tea at the moment a chicken one it has all types of vegies etc in it, i add a raw egg every odd day (he loves egg) and he gets a chook frame in the morning and a teeth cleaner treat. Gets some dry food in with the pattie to encourage him to still eat it. 2. how often? A pattie every night and frame every morning 3. how much? One pattie feeds him sufficently well and i mix about a handful of dry food in it 4. what breed, age, sex and weight is your pet? Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, 2 years, Male (entire), last weighed in at 20kg. 5. where do you purchase your ingredients from? We get the patties delivered every time we run out. Get frames & dry from either supermarkets or butchers. 6. have you always fed your dog this diet, or did you change over to it gradually? if yes, how did your dog react? He only got changed over about a week ago, he refused at first tried it as a treat didnt work so i mixed 1/4 in with some dry he ate that quickly, next day 1/2 with dry, day after that 3/4 and the next day the whole thing with a bit of dry food. I tried the fastening? thing didnt work i gave in ;) so tried the above way. 7. what have been the advantages and disadvantages? Advantage: Very quick easy to use, he doesnt leave any for the birds to eat, he is usually a slow eater and wanders while eating but now finishes it in one sitting, his poo isnt as big/smelly. So far there has been no disadvantages wish i had found out sooner. 8. have you seen changes in your dog, ie. coat, energy levels? Too early to tell yet but he does seem quiter/calmer is it supposed to do that? Thanks Natasha

Hyper Dog Vs Laid Back Dog
Sayreovi replied to whatevah's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I would prefer the hyper dog for training and the laid back dog for home is that possible? Nova is what most would consider a hyper dog very quick learner and has a few issues like "forgetting" what the word come means, but when he does do everything i ask he is super and loves what he is doing, Would be possible to teach this super quick learner better behaviour? such as being dog friendly and remaining quiet it is possible i think sooooo i will get the hyper dog, actually wait ..... i already have the hyper dog Thanks Natasha & Nova -
Haltis come off thats why you have a correction collar on as well. as a precaution but gentle leaders dont come off something to do with the way they are fitted around the back of the head i think. For a double precaution though you could attach another lead to her collar if you dont feel safe with a GL on.
