For general use i use K9 Forces leather leads, they are great and havent broke yet (Nova can break a lead if he decides he wants too lol) I think ive got the 6 ft ones, i do believe they come in 3-4 ft. For training i use a much shorter lighter lead, just a cheapy one as its going to be wrecked any way.

Hi I have been going to Berwick for a few years now, sign up is the first Saturday of every month, cant really join any other time as they explain rules etc. then There is someone (Ian) who fits GLs and the such too your dog. It doesnt matter what you train in as long as you can control your dog, if you turn up in a flat collar and your dog is uncontrolable then they recommend either a check chain or GL. They also have special classes for GL users as you train differently with them. Any other questions dont hesitate to ask, either here or at training. I am the one with the little red shit head of a dog that keeps running off on me at agility and another red and white boy.

Did You Get What You Wanted
Sayreovi replied to Lablover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
With Nova, no, i knew before i got a Toller that they were a challenge to train, but he is ridiculous. He has taken years to train to just start competiting so im wishing never to go down that route again. Nova is intelligent and this is where he has become a pain lol Darcy however is extremely easy to train and is what i wanted in temprement from the start. However to be fair on Nova he is the most out going dog, has great nerves and has good drives, Darcy has weaker nerves and isnt exactly happy to be fawned over by strangers like Nova likes to be (though Tollers are supposed to be reserved with strangers) Too be honest i probably am not Novas ideal owner because he is such a full on dog but i do do my best. With Darcy i do believe that he really suits me. I am already planning on what bloodlines i want my foundation bitch to have, so im not going to plan to buy another breed at the moment. -
Yes, it helps control the dog and you need to have good obedience for when you dog is off lead. Besides what else have you got to do before you can start agility There isnt alot.

I used luring to teach mine, i found it easier to teach them to roll on their right side. Pretty much just got them to drop, and used food to turn their head and they eventually turned enough to roll over lol After several attempts they should figure out what you are doing lol

Close to Ballarat? In that case, no lol Can you tell me how much for the consults? If they are still available
-
LOL awesome!! Now i am coming, can you count me in (with a dog)? Ohh Where are the private consults held?
-
I was thinking the same, i will be heading 2-3 hours in the other direction LOL If the private consults arent to expensive i would be interested in doing one of those.

How Do You Classify 'nerves'
Sayreovi replied to wyvernblade's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Gee some people get defensive on here. I was merely asking a question that you didnt answer, and because you didnt do that i was asking for you to do so. At the start of the thread you replied with knowledge in your posts but you arent expanding on questions when asked? Maybe i should ask people who will actually respond. -

Ok still have two sides of the story. I understand what Herr Rottweiler is saying, thank you, but it totally conflicts what Jeff Jones is saying. So who is right? Ohh and Jeff perhaps if you are trying to convince people can you answer the questions asked of you please? -
I actually dont mind an entire bitch in the ring, especially if it happens to be a Lab in the line up as the boys look alot better as they are trying to show off to the bitch LOL bloody males.

How Do You Classify 'nerves'
Sayreovi replied to wyvernblade's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Ok you said a dog that jumped at a sudden sound would have nerve problems.....now i dont know strong nerved dogs that have nerve problems? Do you consider dogs with nerve problems still strong nerved? I am obviously not the only person who took it that way. -

Heartworm Needle / Should L Get Pup Done?
Sayreovi replied to archie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I recently got my two done with it, first time, figured i would see how they go as i always forget to give them the tablets. Nothing has happened to either of them both are fine, and if they continue that way i will continue to give them the injection. -
How Do You Classify 'nerves'
Sayreovi replied to wyvernblade's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I am having alot of trouble understanding why only dogs that dont react at all to a pan being dropped suddenly are strong nerved, and dogs that do start and then proceed to investigate are considered weak nerved. Like Steve said i would be checking the dogs hearing, i would have thought trainers would want a dog that is alert and attentive to their surrounding environment, thought this would have also have applied to the training of Schutzhund? -
Some Questions: Situation Specific Anxiety
Sayreovi replied to Tralee's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I am going to agree with Miranda here, if the dog is only young...which i gather he is?....then i would keep at training him to at least tolerate being handled by strangers. Some dogs just dont like being shown at all. I personally wouldnt seek drugs as an answer but continue to work with him to accept strangers patting him and eventually doing a full exam. -
Sorry dont have any, but i stare into space no matter what i am doing, i have a very short attention span LOL Hope you get some good ideas.

I would also go with Lablover, she is really passionate about these trials! -
I had a think about this and ive decided i would rather not get him done just in case. He isnt really proving to be a hard dog to own being entire and he is nearly 2 but will see how he goes as he hasnt fully matured yet.

What Is Your Favourite Thing To Do
Sayreovi replied to leopuppy04's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
It would have to be agility, even though Nova does test me pretty much every week in training but with Darcy its a dream to train in. Novas best trick would be bow, i just like that one the best. Darcys would be speaking on command because he very rarely barks. -
