Planning On Starting Training This Sunday
Sayreovi replied to wombatoutofhell's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Do Westernport still insist on having correction collars on all dogs? -
Im gonna get lost lol Not long till its on now

Has anyone actually bred with a dog that has had the implant?
-
Just remember the smellier the better!

Possibly, i did start the diet about a week after i got JD. So do you think this has nothing to do with being aggressive too me but that he is a bit more protective over food because of a combination of a new dog and less food?

Training In Drive And The Show Ring
Sayreovi replied to Seita's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
No thats ok i didnt say i did both lol I dont really do competitive obedience at the moment i use TID for agility and flyball though. With showing i only use the "show" command which they will stand and look alert too, thats about as far as obedience goes for me in the show ring and its the only time i will use it. I didnt say using TID for showing is bad but its going to be very hard to get them to control themselves while gaiting and some judges will put up with a dog breaking and everything but the majority do not as a dog that looks good stacked must also be able to move properly and its hard to prove that if the dog is skipping and jumping lol If your dog is only a puppy i would worry about the focus just yet, they are puppies and the show ring is exciting and 99% of judges understand this and take it into account. -
He has gone on a diet, ive cutten back his food but not by that much. Ohh i havent changed how i train him either.

You could just pretend you take it with you to clean their faces lol -
I wont be fostering any more males, and will be sticking to the calmer girls, hopefully thats all it is.

The 15kg bags range from $80-$100. I got Maintenance and Performance and the latter was $98 the other was $86.

Training In Drive And The Show Ring
Sayreovi replied to Seita's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
True, some dogs wont but i wouldnt want to use a toy in the ring it is very distracting to the other dogs which is a very inconsiderate thing to do. Though you could cue it, train them in drive at home and use a word so they "know" the word then say that word only in the ring and at training. Much the same as saying "walk" -
OK i will try and get the concept of the TOT and NILF, i dont really understand it thats why i havent tried it. Im not planning on keeping JD, he is here till he finds a home but i will be fostering on a regular basis now so i dont want them to get their noses out of joint when a new dog comes. Miranda - Your advice is always welcome

I thought it may have something to do with JD, Darcy is all over the place as well at the moment. However he growled at me, there is no need for that at all. Yeah they are all male. Suppose i should start really trying to get JD a home lol

Training In Drive And The Show Ring
Sayreovi replied to Seita's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I personally wouldnt, if the dog isnt happy enough looking in the ring to start with i probably wouldnt be showing. You can easily get a dog to stand looking alert without needing to use drives. Besides when you are gaiting you dont want the dog looking at you at all. -
Nova is 4 (today actually lol) I watch them eat every day and none of the others have stolen his food. He stole Darcys bone who let him do so, but Darcy was growling at Jd when he came near his bone but let Nova? None of the others have gone near his bowl when he has been eating since he growled at me so not sure of his reaction too them, but he was better last night. I havent seen JD try to assert himself, if anything they dont really take much notice anymore as the squabbles between JD and Darcy have all but stopped and they are playing and Nova isnt at all. Might take him to get checked out, he is still running around and doesnt seem hurt at all. Seita: This has only happened in the last few days, he has never been like this even when i know he didnt respect me when he was about 2 he couldnt give two hoots what i did/said, he didnt care. I do make him sit, drop, watch and wait and he doesnt eat till i say he can. Its frustrating we were actually getting somewhere and now its all falling apart......maybe i am putting too much pressure on him?

Thanks, see there is still no openings, ive been on the waiting list for about a month now.....how long is the wait usually?

For some reason Nova seems to have become wary of me, yesterday i gave all the dogs a bone each and as usual he finished his first then he went and stole Darcys, something he has never done (well not with food), so i went to take it back and he growled and stared at me......now he has never been this aggressive ever not with anything and he regulary has raw bones that i can take off him but he has never growled at me like that before, for the first time i have had him i was actually scared off him and i swore to myself i wouldnt own a dog that would bite me ever again. What is going on with him? Is it because it was "stolen" so a much greater prize? Even still i dont ever want him to do that again. I have taken on a foster like nearly a month ago so i thought it may have been that but he hasnt been concerned with the other dog at all. He was still fine with me walking around him eating but now he will try to eat it quicker if i go near him. Also at training particulary flyball his mind has gone back to like it has been when we started, he would be doing a run then would go a pee on a pole something that took me nearly a year to phase out and he just isnt even doing full runs at all. The only big thing that i can really recall where he has been hurt in my presence is at a recent flyball comp where the heights were raised and he hit every jump on the way down and back and he went haywall the rest of the day he would stop and run over to the fence, not go over jumps......i just dont know whats happened.

Sorry to hijack this thread a bit but can someone give me more info on the agility club that trains at KCC Park.

Sorry to bump this up.... Tollersowned... have posted several samples today so here's hoping! Just wanted to say thanks for sending out samples, i went and bought Nutro last week and i am so excited usually he stops liking the food after a few days but he is still eating it with gusto and now has more fat on his body and a gorgeous coat!! It made my two hours of aimless driving there to get it very very worthwhile!! (i got lost a bit lol only took an hour to get home!) Definately!! He eats it and looks great, its all i was after now i have all three dogs here on it and they are all looking spiffy!!

What Happens With Vet Bills For Injury At Club?
Sayreovi replied to Sparty's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Was your dog under control and doing the right thing? It sounds to me like you need to stop hiding behind the club and this post and just speak to the person involved. She probably isn't that irresponsible and mean after all. Are you for real? Of course she is irresponsible, if her dog has been know to charge at other dogs it shouldnt have been off lead to start with not just for other dogs sake but for her own as well, some dogs obviously dont like being hip and shouldered what would have happened if her dog did it too one that was doing a run meaning that dog would have been off lead. If that dog had run up to mine like that and tried to rough them up it would be running back to its owner with a very sore backside. How could Spartys dog not be doing the right thing, he was doing a run in flyball which requires him too be off lead.....i dont see what you are getting at with this? Justiss you are taking this very personally, is it because it is an Aussie? -
