All the dogs here at the moment are ball crazy (2 in particular). One competes in flyball and two are in training. Ages range from 2-5 years. All have perfect healthy teeth, no wear and tear, but i also dont leave balls out in the yard for them its only when i take balls outside that they get to play with them.

Well done LP!!! Huge congrats! I heard there was an entry of about 260 odd dogs so it would have been tough competition.
-
Nah it did say no late entries accepted but didnt think it would take a couple of days to go about 30 minutes away....

Sounds like good food for training, this is one dog food that i certainly wont be tempted feeding too my lot though.

Has anyone heard of a dog doing badly on a BARF diet? Or does it agree with majority of them when done right? Personally i thought it wasnt right, and then i got thinking of how many problems dogs have that are nutrition related and here i am Thanks for all the answers though

Thanks for the answers. I may have been reading it wrong, but he did seem to lay alot of the problems we have with dogs on its diet.

At the moment i am reading "Give your dog a bone" book by Ian Billinghurst. He has raised some very interesting theories, like the way you feed your dog massively (if not entirely) contributes to a dog getting HD. If you feed your dog on a BARF diet then it will unlikely develop serious 'diseases' Is this fact or merely speculation? If it stops dogs getting HD does that mean that it is in fact not genetic related and Hd affected dogs could actually be bred? (Well ethically ) If it is true then why do we health test our dogs if it is merely how you raised them, if that is the way they turned out? Also if true, why arent majority of breeders feeding this diet? Its been eating away at me for awhile, hope someone can help

Confused, do you mean dropping in the heel position when you are going quicker or drop on recall?

Keep New Pup Together With Other Dogs Or Apart?
Sayreovi replied to whatevah's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I dont have much experience in this area as i only have 2 dogs. Nova was raised by himself, and never really put much 'value' on other dogs. He would now much rather do his own thing then play with other dogs. Due to Novas stand offishness my two dogs havent bonded as much as most dogs raised together, as Darcy was raised with Nova pretty much with him the entire way. Darcy though places a little too much value on other dogs then i want. Both dogs are fine seperated for hours on end and they are outside dogs so they dont really know if we are home or not. My next dogs i will be trying out K9 Forces way. Reading through the other thread, i sound like a hypocrite :D Ive just been better educated so my opinion has changed ;) -
Obedience Trialling - Question On Stays

I do what most seem to do here, hands behind back for stays and hands in front for recall. -
Best Dog Training Treats
Sayreovi replied to tryamartimmy's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
At home anything that resembles treats will get eaten. For dog training i use Good-o treats, as my picky dog loves those and they are good for basic stuff. For the more tricky exercises its either hot dogs or kabana. Sometimes i use dim sims as the massive jackpot! I want to try lambs fry for them but last time it stunk out the house and i got into massive trouble ;) -
Flyball Dogs - Here Is The Team That Beat The Record
Sayreovi replied to whatevah's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I agree, Nova has been attacked (several times) before, he bounced back worse each time now instead of running he will turn and fight, not something i wanted in my dogs. Sorry to sound like a broken record and i hope i havent turned you off flyball, for the record i love it, but you have to think about the other dogs racing if you get to that stage. You will doubtfully get to race again if your dog attacks and it will ruin that dog (and possibly owner) Agility is heaps of fun and once you get focus in that, you will love it and you wont have to worry about other dogs -
Where Do You Train Your Dogs
Sayreovi replied to Henrietta's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I train out on our front lawn, backyard is too crowded, have plenty of room out front. Adds for good distranctions for general obedience and stays. If they are doing everything well there i will take it too actual training to work on other distractions, but generally they are the same both places as dogs and other people walk past when training out front anyway. -
Very true, about having fun. Good luck in your events, i shall see you there
-
Ahh well all of them have off days, Nova had one last weekend, his mind was in la la land. They will come good for you though. Cant wait too see the Dane up and going, that will be interesting!
-
Ohh Good a familiar face! I am going to be a nervous wreck, if Nova does everything i say (even if i send him over the wrong jump ) its all i am asking for anything will be a bonus! You will know if he got a pass because i will be crying :p Have you entered both trials? I am doing agility and jumping in both AM and PM.....yeah i know i am insane

Ness Agility Nationals - Video
Sayreovi replied to ness's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Great clips, she is very responsive to you by the looks of it. -
I am hoping so too, he is such a stocky little dog with little legs it will be so much easier for him at the 400 height. Plus then i wont have to run both dogs at the same height and same class as well
-
Just got of the phone to the secretary and its all pretty much sorted out. He will be measured before the trial and either stay in 400 or if he goes over go up to 500. She is going to do it so that he will be the last dog in 400 or the first in 500 so it doesnt stuff up the order. Will be interesting seeing what he is finally measured at
