  1. The ones youve listed are TDX Tracking Dog Excellent - Tracking CDX Companion (?) Dog Excellent - Obedience RRD - Restricted Retreiving Dog - Retrieving Trials ET - Endurance Test QC - Qualifying Certificate - Shown in agility and obedience NRD - Novice Retrieving Dog - Retrieving Trials. Sorry i dont know a site that will show ALL titles, i think you just have to through all sports and find what titles they award. People on here would know what was what.
  2. Mel, Darcy does the same thing, he chomps on whatever is thrown. I have been assured that it IS something that can be trained out of doing to birds or it never carries over.
  3. Does anyone mind lending me a copy? Would love to have a read.
  4. Ohhh so you want a dog to train, well thats easily fixed i will send you my two
  5. You would be marked down for that?? :S Isn't it a show of 'teamwork' between dog and owner and good training if it's taught to do something difficult like that? Or does everything have to be all natural? Its showing not obedience The judge doesnt care about teamwork, only the dog. If you are trying to train a dog to avoid showing its faults you are not going to be praised for it.
  6. Mmm looks like i am a dog sport whore. I give everything a go at least once except doggy dancing, not for me. Though i concentrate on one dog in one sport at a time to not confuse myself. I wouldnt be doing anything if none of them liked doing it but they really enjoy all these different things. Nova has trialled in flyball, agility and obedience. Would like to give tracking and ET a go. He used to be a full on show dog as well on top of everything. Now that the flyball Nationals are out of the way i will be concentrating on obedience and agility more. Darcy has been trialled in flyball and agility. He will be trialled in obedience by the end of the year as well. Like Nova tracking and ET is on my mind too as well as retrieving. He is also a show dog but hasnt been shown much really. My extremes are driving to Queensland (from Victoria) for flyball Nationals recently and that was only for the weekend Usually am getting up at 5-5.30am for flyball competitions, most of the time having to drive at least 2 hours each way.
  7. One of mine does this as well. He will be heeling close and perfect then go wide while looking down and then come back and heel again. Will not sit or drop in that spot either. Ive tried holding him close with the lead, but he will either kick up a fuss and behave like a bronco or just become a "dead" dog when we get close. There seem to be a few spots everywhere we go, ive gotten out my other dog who will sniff and pee on anything remotely weird and he doesnt smell anything interesting.
  8. Well good luck with whatever venue you decide to pursue. If you come into most rings you may find me anyway
  9. To get this back on topic of what was supposed to be a brag thread, congrats Cosmo!!! As long as she did you proud it doesnt matter what placement/score you got or what others say! So when are you going to trial? Sway, no this isnt the same as a 6 point challenge/BOB. Much different.
  10. At the moment because of fosters, i do it every 3 months for intestinal and every month for heartworm for one. Before that i done it about 3 times a year. Once this last girl goes i will be going back to that. Fleas i havent done in ages, dogs dont have fleas so no need to flea them. Vaccinations i wont be doing anymore, this year will probably be the last one. ETA: I am talking about MY dogs, fosters have everything done to them
  11. I wouldnt think its that common to refuse a puppy for being entire, well certainly would hope not. Where abouts are you? Someone may know a place where you can take your puppy.
  12. Tapferhund - Do you mind telling me how you did it? With the amount of clicking its because with that method, the dog has to offer the behaviour and that generally means waiting and clicking any little indication of getting the right behaviour. I dont think its repeating the same thing 150 times, that would be counter-productive, dog would get bored very quickly. More that it is shaping the behaviour in the dogs time and offers. Sorry if it doesnt make sense, i am not good at explaining things and become repetitive
  13. Why cant you take him until he is 6 months old? Obedience schools accept puppies once they have fininshed their vaccinations. IMO it doesnt matter what you say in the commands, as long as you are consistent with what you say as well as the hand signals. Work out what you want to use now and then stick with it, then you wont get confused and then confuse your dog
  14. Will try the suggestions, thanks . What he seems to think, is when coming back with the dumb bell and i say sit (hands behind back) that the retrieve exercise is finished and he can drop the dumb bell, then he will sit . I cant force him to hold it while putting him into position because he shuts down straight away.
  15. I think most of the people floating around taking photos were part of teams. Officially wouldnt there be only one photographer?
  16. Oh good ive been wondering when the photos will be available to buy!
  17. Really? Do you know when? I had been doing it for a week and not once did he offer to sit, if i said sit, he would drop the dumb bell and then sit He aint much on multitasking
  18. I am currently working through this method with one of mine. He will retrieve anything i throw no worries, i am using it more for the return he tends to drop things at my feet so will only click when it is in my hand. He is getting better and will hold it until i put my hand down but i have no idea how i am going to incorporate the sit as well.
  19. Welcome back, though i thought you were back earlier
  20. Thats Ok, if you are interested go here to learn more http://www.drianbillinghurst.com/ I would recommend buying "Grow Your Pups with Bones" book.
  21. Not really, the best way too feed vegies is raw and pulped (sp?). Cut up frozen veggies have lost heaps of nutritional value through processing and cooking them loses even more. From what i can see people are saying cooking will do no harm as a short term solution but it isnt ideal, raw unprocessed food is best. If you want to learn more on BARF do a search through the forum you will come up with alot of topics
  22. You will find the majority of people use regular tennis balls. Because the dogs only get to play with them once a week (or less), they dont do that much damage IMO I know of one team that uses a rubber type of ball but not sure what exactly they are or where to get them from. ETA: If your dog is a chewer/chomper on the tennis balls look into getting different balls just to be safe but if not and you dont have tennis balls laying around the house i wouldnt worry. One of mine has been doing flyball for 4 years all up including training and his teeth are 100% perfect.
  23. Then i suggest using clicker to get your dog to pick the ball up. Also i would be removing all tennis balls from your yard (if there are any) and only bring them out for training.
  24. Flyball boxes are expensive for good ones, our club recently bought one for $500. If you are with a club long enough and are trustworthy, they may let you take the box home for a week. This is what i do
