Only if they are going to be scored I think, she is only 10 weeks old so that's not going to happen.
-
Pretty much, Jovi wasn't really happy having her back legs pulled and prodded by a stranger and let the vet know about it, but I did the same extension of her hind legs at home and she just layed there calmly. That was basically it until the xrays.
-
Not yet, specialist will contact them to let them know what his conclusion was regarding her. Original vet hasn't really cost me anything, the xrays probably would have got done to ease my mind anyway, and the specialist probably would have recommended I do it as well. Give me a day or so too process what he said, it's a blur at the moment all I really took in is that she is fine
-
I cried as well :D, you can bet your bottom dollar if she gets a good hip score in 12 months I will be going back to give a piece of my mind. How dare vets pull this s**t on unsuspecting clients, I wonder how many poor puppies have been through unnecessary surgery just for profit :
-
JPS, apparantly she will have severe HD by the time she is 12 months......I took her to see Dr. Wing Tip Wong in Werribee and he said she is completely fine, he wasn't the specialist the vet referred me too though. I wanted a completely unbias opinion and people on here have said good stuff about him. She had to have a GA for an unrelated thing, so they took Xrays at the same time and they look great and normal, my vet did say the same so not sure why they still tried to get me to do the surgery. Thanks SnT, that's where we did the AI too get said pup!

Long story short my current vet wanted to do an extremely unecessary surgery on my baby girl (10 weeks) and basically gave me a heart attack in the process. The specialist (found him by searching DOL) I took her too this morning said there were was nothing wrong with her at all but bring her back in a month too be 100% sure if I wanted. Too much of a worry wart not too , I also went to a different clinic and got another vets opinion and they said there is nothing wrong, wanted to go to the specialist before I got my hopes up. Why on earth would a vet recommend doing surgery on a puppy that isn't even displaying symptons? Surely there would be more money too be made with keeping too my original plan of competing/showing and maybe breeding her if that was the reasoning behind it? I've been using this vet clinic for years and had no issue with them, so why now? Bloody vets, I have been so upset and worried these past 2 weeks about her, I think it's time I found a new vet! Anyone recommend a vet in South East Melbourne, I live in Cardinia Shire but will travel to a good vet.

Ever Snuck The Dog Into A Motel?
Sayreovi replied to Lady Flying Furball's topic in General Dog Discussion
It is not dog owners who have created that attitude. It is a general idea that dogs/animals are unclean and will ruin the hygiene/decor. There may be a point in that... HOWEVER people have been sneaking in animals for yonks, especially with smaller, more easily handled dogs, and there is nothing to say that they are being irresponsible in deciding that their dog will not mess up the place. If you are travelling with bigger or multiple dogs it is obviously harder. But don't blame dog owners for the attitude by motel owners...a bit of a silly conclusion. It IS actually dog owners who have created the attitude. Ask the owners of accomodation that were previously pet friendly why they are now No Pets.......nearly all would say because owners didn't keep the place clean or the dog destroyed something. Great too see that people think it's acceptable because their dogs are small though -

I agree!! It's already so hard to find accomodation that accepts pets and deliberately taking pets into hotels/motels that have a no pets policy isn't helping anyone! Whenever I travel, I find pet friendly places to stay, or they stay in the car. It's not that hard, on the odd occasion the dog needed to be with me (which is very rare) I ask the owner and usually offer a little bit more and show them the crate they will sleep in....they are usually lenient then but I wouldn't do it with dogs that can stay in the car. -
This is my hopeful, we have entered the shows at KCC on the 23/24 October (can't remember the club holding it) as well as the Gundog show and Sunbury. Fingers crossed she behaves herself, she is a bit of a devil at the moment, and unfortunately she may be all legs around then , her dad was the same and didn't mature until he was about 4 years old!!

Ahh that sounds better than forgetting about several breeds. Will go check again.

Does anyone have the Toller results? They aren't even listed on the results page and I know there were some entered (1 was me but I didn't go)

Afraid I am not dedicated at all, I hate training/competing in the rain as well as the heat and so do my dogs so I don't bother. We don't do walks in the rain either My boys are such princesses, my baby girl will probably be the same as her dad....prissy LOL

Thanks everyone She has melted everyones hearts in the family, my brother wants to have her for himself and he is usually a bull breeds man!

Introducing Sherbrooke Livn OnA Prayr (Reg pending) AKA Jovi She is the only daughter (well, only offspring really) of my Darcy and is the spitting image of him. We picked her up yesterday from Adelaide and I am going to have so much fun training her, she has big shoes to fill as her mum is a very accomplished agility/jumping dog over in SA but she is a gem and not at all bias but I think she is stunning! She has settled in well and my boys have accepted her well, without any fuss really, and will soon be under her paw.

I have these too, only difference between these and proper puppy pens is the lack of a door! Get too set mine up next week

Tollersowned have to agree - both are absolute stunners! Have you thought of names yet? Enquiring minds (mine!) would like to know Thanks, I actually own her dad so know what a stunning dog he is inside and out! Her name will be Jovi (as in Bon Jovi), her show name is _________ Livn OnA Prayr, in memory of my mum who passed away this year and never got to see the eventuation of all my jabbering about Darcy (dad) becoming a father! Nearly a week left now

I am another who doesn't particulary care about dogs barking, I like seeing animated dogs and always laugh at dogs that are being nuisances in the ring, because I have one that was a pain as well. I encourage my dogs to act up a little and while waiting on my turn in the group line up I sometimes get them to perform little tricks to keep them interested and alert, and those tricks do include barking. Never had anyone look crossly at me and sometimes have other people join in Maybe it's because of our flyball background that barking dogs aren't an issue cause if your dogs get upset at dogs barking right behind/next to them, don't bother about doing flyball or even agility. If I ever am in a line up with you behind me, go right ahead!! As long as you don't mind me flipping my dog around to face off with your SBT to show off my dog too its best advantage.

Thanks Aziah.

I get to pick up my beautiful little girl next week So very excited! Here is a 5 1/2 week old photo of her, she is gonna be a stunner just like her daddy (attached a photo of him)

Is that just a QLD rule?
-
PF was talking about ANKC papers, showing that she is a registered pure breed and that the "breeder" complies with the rules set by the ANKC. Good luck with her, agility is a fun sport and very addictive. Definately let her mature as jumping her too early can cause damage and waiting just a few extra months can mean the difference to being retired at an early age or having a long and happy "career". In the meantime focus on obedience (make sure to teach her heel on the right side, it will help heaps in agility) and have a look at a few other sports that younger dogs can do

Thanks for the replies, thats why I asked BBJ, I thought it was the same dogs but couldn't be sure Gah I wish I had know that then I would have entered Nova in the 7-10 class!
