I taught sit first and then stand. My puppy is going to be more of an obedience dog than a show dog so I do want an automatic/default sit but only when heeling. Her dad automatically sits whenever I stop walking regardless of where in proximity he is too me, except when he is in the show ring so it can be taught. She is a very quick learner so I didn't think she would have that hard of a time learning a new command and really you will have at least 4 weeks to teach her/him. I agree with Sas, not the end of the world if your dog sits in the ring, especially a puppy, just lure them back into a stand. Usually puppies are too excited to sit down anyway

Huh Me too??? My dog tried to kill her Grandmother, but when she was in season she was MORE than happy for the male to be running with her. Don't see your point?? I think Tatelina was talking about running entire bitches together and entire males together not females and males together, and the added risks of running together same sex entire pairs especially where bitches are concerned.

Feel sorry for everyone who stayed for group, it really started coming down before lunch and wasn't stopping so I left, I wasn't going to be standing out in that with my baby pup So I dont know any results apart from Tollers, sorry, hopefully someone comes along with some.

missed that announcement - the club still has her listed. That's a bit disappointing - we get a bit excited if it's a Swedish or finnish judge! Especially when the replacement judge is from a totally different region! Tell me about it! Not for Sunbury but for the Gundog specialty. We had the Swedish judge and now have a Mexican judge Would much have preferred a Canadian judge as replacement! Ahh well Toller, the replacement judge for the Gundog show is a Canadian not a Mexican. Mr. D. Markus from Canada is replacing Moa Persson from Sweden, so I get you get your wish!! Did they get changed again? On my breakdown sheet I have Dr. Cesar Gutierrez (Mex)? Ohh and I got my numbers today as well.

Interesting read. Sorry to all those who have lost a dog I plan on having more than one entire bitch at a time (2-3 max) and more likely mother/daughter combos, so it's sobering reading all these stories. I've only just had both of my dogs have an actual fight ever late last week, one is an 6 year old entire male the other an 8 year old who still thinks he is entire. Was all noise, the older one got nicked on the ears which was probably accidental and he got knocked down a few pegs as he never really heeded the younger ones warnings but apart from that you couldn't even tell as straight afterwards they were back to usual with each other. Not the same as two bitches fighting but I am glad they had one while I was home as tension had been building for awhile.

No numbers here either, wonder if we will receive them? Those coming from interstate will be annoyed, only two more days for locals to receive their numbers.

Agility Training Talk Thread

The weavers are dead easy too make, I made a full 12 pole set out of PVC, the instructions are somewhere on the web....can't remember where though, if you do a search a few sites come up! Jumps are also easy to make, and makeshift tunnels can be bought cheaply. The main thing is the contacts, if you or someone you know is handy, you can build them easy enough. I wouldn't buy the contacts, jumps or weaves, the contacts are way to expensive for home use and the latter 2 are usually cheap and if you have a reasonably quick/hard dog they will demolish them...found that out the hard way!! Top Buy has a tunnel and collapsed tunnel, they also have jumps and weavers but I haven't tried them. http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/Dogs-c1371.htm -

Thinking I should really join this thread, I have finally entered Darcy in another trial, it's a double on both days so hopefully by the last runs we should be going good The last one we competed in was, geez, I think a couple of years ago! There isn't really anything I am too worried about, he has really good weavers and hits his contacts well in training but I am training him to drive forward so will be interesting to see if he does it all together in a trial situation. *fingers crossed* -
Haven't decided as yet. There are a few I really like, but not sure if one is the one I want

We will be at the Gundog show on Saturday.

Huge congratulations! Sounds like the judges love an animated dog after all! Was he barking at all?

No set area here either, I pick it up once every 2 days or so as they only go once a day (puppy excluded) and we have a massive yard. None of them have ever done a poo inside, both the older boys are completley toilet trained and Jovi is getting there, she will go and sit by the door if she wants to go out but sometimes she leaves her run late and ends up peeing right next to the door because she can't hold on anymore. I really want to get a doggy door we are getting there though! She is my first dog I have actually set out to train as the other two done it themselves!

Thanks Austerra!

Dog Registration - Help Needed Describing Colour
Sayreovi replied to koalathebear's topic in General Dog Discussion
Honestly I would go and put chocolate or brown, because too most people that would be what colour he looks like, when I think "red" I think of one of my dogs who is actually a darker red, not a red/tan Kelpie. -
I didn't know there was a product to get rid of dye (I rarely dye my hair), will have a look around tomorrow. So tomorrows show is out hopefully she will look alright for next weekend. Thought I might have been alright, when I washing her the first time I thought it wasn't too bad it just made her a little darker, didn't see the big blob on her white chest
-
I used to use dim sims when I was doing flyball with Nova. They were as high value as I could get and I reckon it made him love flyball even more! Of course pretty useless as everyday training treats because they are really unhealthy, but comps were about 1-2 a month and he burned it all off anyway.

Any ideas? Silly brother let her back inside without my knowing while I was sitting on the tiles dyeing my sisters hair and promtly decided to investigateand cover herself in it I've tried washing her several times but it's only dulled not come out completely so hopefully Dolers will have the answer!! It is only a semi permanant so 6-8 washes, but she was meant to have a show today as well as tomorrow and then a Gundog specialty that I really want to show her at next weekend. It's really really obvious, some landed on her white (as well as the floor thank God for tiles!) and because the dye was an orange base it's gone fluro orange

I was wondering why we are showing indoors as well, fingers crossed they change their minds.

Ohh I like Sayreville and jashovi. Thanks for the suggestions!

Berwick is on a Saturday afternoon.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've jotted them down. Shelby, just fire away. Prefixs don't really have things they have too include (don't think so anyway)

Agreed 110%, I think it's a fabulous idea and how considerate of all the owners building/buying air con kennels for their dogs I always wondered how dogs/animals up there kept cool in long very hot summers! I used to live out in Roxby Downs SA, and only though I caught the arse end of the summer it was still stinking hot and so gross, none of us were coping so there was no chance of wanting to be relocated to Northern WA for work!
