  1. I was wondering what too bring as I've never been, so I will bring rolls, margarine and cups/plates. Thanks Lappiemum
  2. I agree, my older boy was way way way more interested in the food dropped in the ring than any bitch in season, my younger boy used to go nuts over squeaky toys but I didn't blame the other exhibitors for my dog's lack of focus instead I spent time training them to value me more Not the same as some dogs intense interest in a bitch in season but other exhibitors don't always do things we agree with in the ring, it's up to us too manage our own dogs.
  3. Funny about that but what I observed at Bairnsdale its MORE paper work. But I am sure the program could be changed. EFTypos Really? What were the problems? Interstate clubs wouldn't have picked it up with such gusto if it wasn't easier.
  4. How different? Both are slowly being eradicated by people, interesting to note that even though they are thought to be a driving force behind the 'tigers' and devils disappearance from mainlaind, that the thylacine was in fact a much larger, more adapted and more well suited to mainland Australia (at the time) then the Dingo. Same with the Tassie Devil, devils are able to defend themselves very well against wild dogs in Tassie and co-existed with the Thylacine for many many years but somehow this smaller, finer, less vicious version of the tiger wiped them out? Thylacines were also capable of reproducing quicker....Dingoes had no advantage. How do we know that they weren't affected with something similar that the devils are currently going through? There is no proof either way, but I kind of resent the notion of them being the scapegoat behind the disappearance of 2 unique Australia fauna...... Kind of sad that the mindset is if there is some in captivity that they are fine and going well, if an entire species is only surviving in captivity then they hardly doing that great. The only true pure strain of dingo exist either in captivity or Fraser Island. Once domestic dogs get to Fraser (and it will happen one day) then all thats left is in captivity, but what a waste......they will never be able to be released as there is nothing stopping the hybrids from breeding with them again. The species is too be extinct in the wild.
  5. Unfortunately they probably aren't pure Hopefully if the dingo rescue get to them, they can genetically test them and if they are pure find some breeding place for them. Love dingoes, but they are heading the same way as the Tassie Tiger, won't be long till the pure ones are gone
  6. We live in melboure and show regularly in vic i personally know almost every AST that does the show circuit and i challenge you to back up your claims and point out to me, all these blue AST’s with the bad mouths and skin problem. What a load of BS just ask for terry and jenny with the amstafs ingroup 2 Kirty wasn't talking about show AmStaff's obviously I would hope the ones in the ring look like AmStaffs, have good teeth and skin......I am sure there are a fair amount of BYB blue AmStaffs around with those issues.
  7. No, paint it white for reasons already explained. CC The only good reason why was heat reflection......other drivers able to see the trailer isn't a good enough reason because there are still accidents with white trailers. What would be the inside temp difference between a white trailer and a, say, yellow trailer?
  8. Hopefully all clubs get on the Ozentries bandwagon, there is no Victorian all breed shows listed on there when really there should be.......if there can be so many NSW and ACT secretaries doing it why not Victorian ones? Surely it's less paperwork??
  9. What makes a trailer's colour so different to a car? I have a black car and have never had an accident or near accident and I do alot of night driving. If someone can't see a trailer regardless of colour then they shouldn't be on the road. Paint it bright red or yellow, surely no one would miss seeing them on the road!
  10. I've only shown males thus far and don't have any problem with bitches in season One has been used at stud and can be a pain around bitches but he is fairly easy to control and he brightens up. I am about too have my first ever bitch in season, and it depends on how she will behaved during the season as too whether I show her or not.
  11. For my two, what they were like at home carried over. I have one dog that very rarely barks, he screams when really really excited (usually reserved for lure coursing) but in flyball he doesn't make a sound. Just stands there waiting, he was usually the start dog so he focussed on the box and only listened for the beeping My other one, adored flyball and barked in the ring, never continuous barking though. At home he is definately more vocal than he is in the ring. I was part of a team where all the dogs were quiet in their crates but it's really hard to keep a dog quiet in the ring with all the other dogs barking and the excitement. IMO the worst thing about flyball is the dogs that don't shut up when they are in their crates....that and the politics of it all Politics is what made my take a long break and in the process retire a dog. Give both a go, you and your dog will like one more than the other for sure.
  12. Sorry for the owners, but I agree it's not worth the risk with such reactive dominant breeds. I would never allow them to eat together......but then again I would never own those two breeds :shrugs: Depends on the breed and then the dogs when assessing the risk.
  13. You can now do online litter registrations and membership renewals.
  14. People really don't get it. I thought my friends had it drilled into them enough and knowing how important the subject is too me that it would be second nature not to go to the pet shop or get an oodle, but one just bought a little something or other pet shop pup which cost more than one of my rare show Tollers. Apparantly because it has a 3 day gurantee on it means its all good, I just mentioned my dogs have a lifetime gurantee..... Another has a lab x poodle and has friends who just bred a "schnoodle" litter and wants a pup from them  These are otherwise intelligent people and I just don't what went wrong!
  15. Isn't blue resessive? If it's resessive than it's possible that a reptuable registered breeder had one or two pop up in the litter from non blue parents.
  16. Best treats ever! I bought heaps at that Dogs Day Out thingy because Jovi went nuts for them, even her extremely fussy dad turns inside out trying to do the "right" thing to get the food
  17. Supervision. I feed them bones everyday, and go sit outside while they eat them. I've never had a problem with doing this, and have never had a food related fight. They all know each others boundaries and how close they are allowed to get without being warned off by either myself or the other dog. No bones last enough enough to be buried either. Certainly I wouldn't do this unless I knew them all very well though.
  18. Another who is waiting for a bum high topline too eventually level! She only just turned 6 months though and is only slightly higher so am not worried and she was level as a baby
  19. Yay! I will be there with my puppy Looking forward to it!
  20. No idea sorry, mine would never lay still long enough so they were put under. I have to ring them tomorrow anyway so will ask them then
  21. I take my dogs to Dr Lavelle in Werribee to be done, they do the xrays and score them at the same time. Very cheap as well so we make a day of it by going to the Zoo at the same time
  22. Darcy is pretty enough as it is without having a feminine collar, I don't think anyone correctly guessed his sex when he was growing up and even when he matured and looked too masculine to be a girl! Poor boy was very gender confused So he can't wear purple, he is always in blue or green. I am glad I have a girl now as I can buy pink and purple things for her.
  23. I got told the EXACT same thing when I took my baby in for just the checkup from picking her up from her breeder. She hadn't been limping or favouring anything. She had a hernia that I wanted fixed so she had xrays at the same time and the vet told me she would have severe HD by the time she is 12 months and wanted me to do JPS straight way, but as she was a very special puppy and was/is my foundation bitch (which they knew) I baulked straight away and got a second opinion. That vet said she was fine but I booked in too see an Orthopedic Specialist and he gave her the all clear. We have since changed vets after being with them for 8 years. She is now 6 months old and is perfectly healthy, when she has her hips done I will be taking her scores back to show the original vet. Definately don't do the procedure without a specialists opinion. Do a search through the forum on JPS and you will find a fair amount of information and opinions, and my threads will come up more than likey
