You need a Lewis then :D HIs sister is the same I reckon so! Pity I didn't manage to meet them or you when I was over there It's a bugger though, that in a breed with so much untapped potential that there are no sport titled Whippets (didn't count ET titles) in the profiles even though the breed is extremely capable!
-
She went very well and behaved beautifully especially around all the excitable agility dogs! That's the best part about clicker training, you mark the exact behaviour you want and being a baby Golden she probably loves food and will love it :D

More Tollers :D Aussie Shepherd (Blue merle) Bernese Mountain Dog Papillon Border Collie (Sable) White Swiss Shepherd Tamaskan Irish Wolfhound Saluki Whippet (one suitable for dog sports though)

Nova was taken from his breed name......thought long and hard about that one ;) (Nova means new, kinda cool as he was my intro to the breed) Darcy was named after Mr. Darcy out of Pride and Prejudice, he definately lives up to his name through and through! He frequently gets called Mr. Darcy because of the way he acts. (Darcy means dark, he is certainly not that!) Jovi was called that because Bon Jovi was my mum's (and is my) favourite band. I just looked up what Jovi meant and it's Father of the Sky (don't mind the fact she is a girl) How fitting that Jovi is part of my mums favourite band and Jovi was born a few months after she passed!

Looking good Ososwift!

Another who is just a dog owner Work in retail for now. We are sort of "jack of all trades, master of none" when it comes to dog sports Own 3 Tollers. (1 male 8 years, 1 male 6 years and 1 girl 9 months) All 3 are show dogs though oldest male is desexed but still competes when classes are offered. Males are titled. Have titled both boys in flyball and they were National Champs. One is now retired the other hasn't competed in awhile. My girl is in training and will start competing next year. Competed in agility with youngest boy. Competed in obedience with youngest boy. Training girl in obedience and going to trial before year is out. Training in tracking and retrieving for all three. Used to rescue and rehome shelter dogs. Once I find a suitable prefix I am becoming a registered breeder Hope to have my first litter next year. Member of a few clubs (couple overseas ones) Should really become an instructor but I would rather just train my own dog

Albury Shows 5,6 & 7th August -murray Valley Kennel Club

We've already booked accomodation for this weekend! :D -
I give my three bones and they usually end up only a few metres from each other even though they have a huge yard to move around. I only give them bones though when I am able to see and hear them, the two adults stay away from each other and the puppy usually does but when younger she got close sniffing around and some how managed to get one of them to share theirs a few times. I have discouraged this fiercly especially as she is getting older now and her puppy licence will be up soon. Personally and I know some will disagree but I don't mind my lot warning one of the others when they get to close, the older two very rarely do it now as I tell them off if they get close to the others boundary or sometimes they get a look and move away but Jovi does and the boys are learning how close they can get. Nova for instance is not allowed within three metres but Darcy is allowed to brush past her.

I drove from Melbourne to Adelaide for my latest puppy, the drive over was fine as we left early and got there at a decent hour. The drive back we didn't leave till 1pm and had to stop several times so didn't get back till midnight!
-
Yep, that's how she does it, I've taught her a fair bit of rear end awareness so she can do it without falling over her feet like she used to! Maybe it looked a little sloppy just before he pulled me up, as it was right at the end of class and we had been there awhile? I should show him when she is full of beans and spritely how awesome and effortless it looks! Looks like I am going to be docked a fair bit in the ring Jovi does a flip finish and a u turn left about!
-
Which way does everyone do a left about turn? Only ask as with my left about I turn into Jovi and she swings her bum around quickly. I was doing this in class on the weekend and was the only one to do so, an instructor pulled me up and was quite adamant that I should teach her to go around as I would get docked points in the ring as everyone else does go around and I would look out of place doing a turn into the dog left about, I know this isn't true. I said I didn't want to even attempt to train a different way as she was fine doing it the way we did and when not extremely excited does it perfectly so I spin on the spot and barely stop. Has anyone come across this attitude or a judge that marks them down (though this could be because of a crappy turn and not the turn itself)?

How Do 2 Golden Retrievers Get Along With Each Other?
Sayreovi replied to goldee's topic in General Dog Discussion
And you allow this? I agree, poor Jenna! It is not Max's yard it is your yard and she should be able to happily and freely wander around it without fear of being beaten the crap out of! I own 3 retrievers (Tollers not Goldens though) and they all get on fabulously. I have a desexed male, entire male and an entire bitch. My males never fought or even grumbled at each other in the 6 years they've been together even when both were entire. They recently had a scuffle over their breakfast of raw bones when my bitch was in season but all it took was for me to move towards them and they scatttered very quickly. Gundogs are generally pretty happy and easily co-exist with other dogs and I personally would never have one dog again -
They will be about the same size then or Dallas would be bigger! Personally I never ever told Jovi off by staring her down and growling. I want to do obedience and I encouraged her staring at my face/eyes, so much so that she now is extremely focused and doesn't stop looking at my face
-
Yup, sorry should have been clearer . I've entered both shows so I will see you there on the Saturday Can't wait to meet the little fluff ball
-
Congrats on the pass RS! Bugger about Cider dropping in her sit stay Ptolomy I have a small brag, Jovi did sorta full runs in flyball! She went over puppy jumps and only picked up a ball in front of the box but I am still impressed she did so well and knows she has to go over the jumps. I am waiting till she is about 18 months or so before trying the box and full height, but it's a good way to give her the idea of what flyball is for now We then did our obedience class and Jovi went up a class as her instructor was extremely impressed with her work, couldn't believe her focus and abilities throughout the entire class! Frankly neither could I as she had done a fair bit of flyball and I was waiting for her to have say "enough" but she kept going the little trooper! He came up to us later and said he was really happy with her and she has a great future ahead.......I hope so too as she is only 9 months! Not an exciting brag as some others, but it's nice that others see her potential and she is really special too me (Not saying my boys aren't but with Jovi she just "gets" me )
-
Bulla :D You can use Jovi as a distraction, she will just ignore Dallas I agree with Nekhbet. Owning a naturally mouthy breed and most gundogs will be mouthy, Jovi was the worst one out of my three as a puppy. I tried squealing when it hurt, and what do you know? Like most high drive dogs well that was most exciting and you could just see her face go "crazy"! I became a moving squeaky toy for her! A few goes doing as Nekhbet says and suddenly it's not so fun any more and I have no issues with her now :D
-
Especially seeing as I don't have black dogs! I just got colours I liked rather than what is suitable for showing
-
Maybe try walking her with other dogs that are well behaved on lead? I am really no help, Jovi came to me I suspect secretly leash trained as she walked perfectly from the start, a few hiccups and I just ignored her and she kept plodding along Personally though, I would keep walking and ignore her temper tantrums, she will eventually learn to accept the lead (and behave) and what it represents (walkies!!) I can clicker train her for you Any opportunity to sneek Goldie puppy cuddles
-
What colours did you go for as I can't decide. Neither could I, so many options and there are so many new ones that I love! I ended up getting just two coloured leads instead of the 3-4 coloured ones, I got black/shocking pink, black/turquoise, black/blue, black/purple, black/apple and orange/white <---- my attempt at getting a blending lead. A bit overboard but I couldn't decide I got them to do obedience as well, as I needed a short light lead and I figure they could all double as show leads.
-
Hopefully this works...... http://www.ozentries.com.au/schedule/0911egb.pdf Should have been clearer sorry The entries are up on Ozentries now We will definately be heading down there, the classes are getting closer to KCC
-
East Gippsland/Bairnsdale shows are offering Neuter class Plus they are on Ozentries again :D
-
Received my leads today, I am extremely happy with the colours and quality of them.
-
Never said they weren't, there are just several other countries I would show under first. They would have to be good judges to be chosen but if I am going to pay $30 for each dog, then it would be nice to have judges that own or breed dogs of the group they are judging at the Royal. JMO of course
-
Ohh yay, a Brazilian judge *fake cheers* Would have been nice to get a judge who owns/breeds Gundogs.......

Bit hard if home is several hundred kilometres away Agreed!! I was about 5 hours away from home the other weekend, what should I have done with them when I needed to go get food or go to the toilet? I leave my dogs in the car if I am running into a shop, filling up the car or running to the loo! I rush around so they aren't in the car very long and come back all worried to find them all asleep and I get a death stare for daring to wake them by getting in the car.......some how I don't think they are in any danger if they are happy enough to just sleep
