Looks like so much fun!
-
Totally. Looks can be deceiving! One of mine is a little energiser bunny, and the obstacles mentioned I guarantee would be no obstacle at all. They're also good at navigating around things and spotting paths that don't appear to be appropriate for human travelling :D One day I'd like to have a toy poodle, one of those lovely chestnut coloured ones. Not sure if that's what their colour is offically called. I think it's red. I don't usually like toy poodles as I am not really a small dog person but I met the cutest, friendliest outgoing toy poodle today in my agility class. He was so tiny but was gorgeous and he was that red colour as well. I could have scooped him up and brought him home with me :D

Yup - I'll be there with our neuter + our other showdogs if there is . Same here, yay for another club offering neuter!

Anti Bouncy Bargains For Controlling Those Puppies !
Sayreovi replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
I bought 2 of these today, hopefully they do the job well as I've tried a fair few other brands with no success and it's getting really annoying putting everything back in place after every run  -
How do your guys do their drops? Do they do the sphinx drops or roll onto one hip (either eventually or from the start) and then stay there?
-
In my own breed you don't get any choice with colour, there are varying shades and white markings though and while I love all Tollers, a medium-dark red with all the white markings would be my choice over a lighter orange with no white if they were equal elsewhere. Definately have colour choices in other breeds, and I probably wouldn't take a different colour seeing as I would probably only ever get too own one. I know I would have to wait for the right dog in the right colour but I don't mind.

Yup I entered both days as well, should be interesting but fun! See you there! :D

I was wondering why they extended the closing date, have they ever done that before?
-
Uhh the State trials! Jumped in the deep end with that one but it's at KCC Park, and we train there alot......plus I want to watch Top Obedience dog of the year!
-
I am ALOT like this, I need something to work towards otherwise I wouldn't do anything ever! I've been working on alot of little things for the past few weeks with the intention of entering and have entered another trial this time in Novice as we work so much better off lead and it means I can get rid of the damn lead! Will be interesting how we go! :p

That's cute, mine lay there too and do that....usually when they are too tired to get up Mine are very rough and tumble, though that's between my father/daughter duo. There is alot of boxing, running, jumping around and body slamming going on between those two. My oldest boy is quite happy to watch and doesn't play as much as his idea of playing is roll on back and try and attack them that way  That, and he has given up on trying to out run them! I've never owned a BC or Aussie, though they were my two other choices when deciding on a breed. I went with a Toller because I liked the look of them, I wanted a gundog and I wanted to do dog sports and do well in them but wanted something other than an extremely common BC (vain much?). I still love Aussies and BC's but I will always have Tollers as they suit me so well. :D

Yup, the wait can be long. Usually the wait is 1-2 years depending on what you want and which breeder. They are a small breed, males ideally are between 48-51cms and bitches 45-48cms, 3 cms on either side is allowed. Agility is a very high energy, exciting sport. Don't know too many dogs that aren't excited too be there ;) but yes, Tollers do give their all when doing something especially when it's extremely enjoyable!

I would be interested to hear more about Tollers also! They are one of those breeds I have heard of but don't know anything about! Tollers would suit most of your requirements though I was wary about recommending due them needing to put up with body slamming. My guys do it too each other and play rough enough that it sounds like they are killing each other but they are a smaller breed and wouldn't take getting body slammed by a GSD too well. What is the GSD like with smaller dogs? Does he still hit them as hard as he does your Lab? I am talking about mine though, I am sure there are some out there giving their all back to bigger dogs. Apart from that, they are very owner focused. I have two here who are so intent on me that I've had obedience competitors say they wish their dogs were like that....and I haven't even trained them to pay attention. They are an active breed mentally and physically but mine are more than happy to sleep the day away if it's raining/cold but if you mention going somewhere they are by your side before you know it! :p They will wait quietly in the car or their crate while I am training one of the others and then be raring to go once I ask them, well except the puppy who will scream at being left out but we are working on that! They do drop coat a bit but have a very easy care coat, a once a week brush will keep their coat in good shape In regards to being outgoing and confident, I would be meeting the parents first preferably not in a home environment. There are a few Tollers that are pretty nervy but picking a confident puppy and then socialising would ensure a confident adult. That being said, if you tell the breeder you want to compete in dog sports then you should be given an outgoing confident puppy.

Not sure, I never specified which one so maybe it was for a C5, either way though it's a ridiculous price. Good idea AL, might try that.

I have a K9+ mat as well, in the light blue. I am looking forward to outdoor shows so I can use it now!

I am in South East Victoria, but really willing to travel anywhere Yeah tried Monash, I asked when I went there with Jovi when she was sick and got quoted about $400 per dog, just seems a bit excessive when you see people say they paid $100-$200 (or even less for those in Perth)

Definately recommend this book, I never thought that certain things could affect a dog so much so it was definately an eye opener! Try and get your hands on it! I would want a puppy that is focussed on me, drivey, confident in a new area (or bounces back quickly) and has good conformation. It's interesting how things work out as I wanted the above in my recent puppy and had all these tests ready to use and turns out she was the only one in the litter and not only had all of the above but has extra as well! Guess that comes from having such an awesome mum and dad! :p

Teaching Puppy Consequences For Disobedience
Sayreovi replied to neo2011's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
He could be "disobedient" because he doesn't fully understand what you are asking him too do, given he is a young puppy I wouldn't be punishing him at all. I don't smack my dogs ever regardless of age because of disobedience, if I was smacking anyone it would be me for not training them well enough ;) With him jumping on people, I would completely ignore the bad behaviour and massively reward the good (4 paws on floor). Don't tie him up, just ignore him and as soon as he stops jumping reward. He will pick up pretty quick which is the better behaviour -
What an awesome dog! Of course it would be a Toller as well :p Couldn't stop smiling over that wagging tail!
-
Me too!! My dog's aren't escape artists but accidents happen and dogs can get out, I would much rather know as soon as they leave the yard then when I get home a few hours afterwards.

Need to get my two adults titre tested and having trouble finding a vet who knows what it actually is or isn't charging an arm and a leg for it!! Can anyone recommend a vet who will do it?

Associate Vs Main/limited Register
Sayreovi replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yeah, the current registered owner will need to fill out the form that is on the back of the original registration form but if you know her name you would have more to go on and might be able to track them down easier or get Guide Dogs to get her registration papers duplicated and transfer her that way. If you are wanting to do retrieving trials with her, it will worth it, might take a couple of weeks to track them down though.
