  1. Thats good you talked to her about boarding and all other suggestions. At least you dont have to keep anything a secret!
  2. wow, great topic 16Paws. Lots of work for you but well worth it
  3. We took our dogs with us from the Netherlands and they had to go through a lot more then I had to for my visa The link Ellz posted is the only one you can use and follow to meet all vaccinations etc. Most important thing to have the 30 day quarantine time is if you start on time with the rabies vaccination.
  4. sorry but I find this last bit very strange. If you dont want to put up with the dog tell your mum up straight! You either do it with the possible whining or you dont.
  5. I made them myself once with a reflector band what joggers wear around their arm at night. It has those led lights in them to and I attached it with velcro to the normal dogs nylon collor.
  6. Letter sent. I was actually going to post this while I just read it in the local paper and then I saw this post. Thanks Nekhbet for putting it up. This is absolutely rediculous! How can they even think about approving such a thing while left, right and center dogs get PTS here in dog pounds. They even call it puppyfarm in the paper. Pfff makes me soooo mad. And then they even mention "designer dogs" as well. Poor poor dogs
  7. If we get visitors with children which doesnt happen very often we never let her near the kids. Very good to do while visitors never stay longer then a couple of hours. The older the kids are the better she can handle it but shes growled at a toddler once still in Holland so therefor I would never trust her. For us shes a wonderful dog but for me doesnt automaticly maker her human aggressive because of what she has done once. We have had a GSD in Holland before who was always friendly to people and animals untill he once bit our lam out of the blue. about half a year later he got really sick and after a vet check (his stomach blew up) he had several tumors in his stomach so he had to be pts. He might have had them in his head as well which might have made him bite the lam that one instance. So please check Ben on those things while it could explain some things.
  8. did he ever snap at you or your husband Brooke or is it only the kids? we have 2 GSD's and I know 1 we cant trust with kids..at all. We dont have kids our selves so for us its not a problem. What I want to say though is that rehoming Ben to a non-kids environment should be a good thing. He probably gets back to his old selve again, where he doesnt get annoyed by all the people in the house and he might never snap at anybody again. Good youre going to sort the braintests out while that might have a complete different light on Bens situation. (hope it makes sense what Im trying to say while Im not a native English speaker )
  9. Both Indonesia and Macau require import permits and certain criteria to be met. Ok, wasnt sure about that. I know the Netherlands dont have it. The Netherlands must have an EU certificate and a rabies vaccination at least 21 days prior to departure (basic EU conditions) Yeah alright, but compared to what we had to go through to come here that that is nothing
  10. Both Indonesia and Macau require import permits and certain criteria to be met. Ok, wasnt sure about that. I know the Netherlands dont have it.
  11. Getting the dog out of the country is not such a big deal (unless Macau has quarantine) but then coming back to Australia is a different story. Id wait as well untill you are back again to get a pup. Australia is pretty strict with their quarantine rules.
  12. Untill you have experienced this yourself I think it will be "a joke" if you dont believe in it.
  13. yes we have, with 5 of our dead animals. All stories were spot on, didnt know the lady she didnt know us or how we lived. All done by photos and didnt cost me anything ... only some tissues
  14. In Holland itself they are called "hollandse herder". Maybe you know, if not, it might help with your google searches
  15. They get a biscuit / treat and when I close the door I say "you stay there" and thats it. They are inside as well with access everywhere.
  16. Why is there no possibility to take him with you? I find it pretty sad to rehome a dog thats 11 years old, [probably your mate for all those years] and almost completely deaf! Putting him to sleep is probably the easiest option altough, would never been mine.
