They still exist as Surefind Kennels

True dog shouldnt be off lead next to raod. Yes wild dogs are a problem for livestock and farmers do and should have the right to shoot them. But people dont have a right to drive along and shoot any stray dog they see. There is nothing in that article to suggest the dog was on or near any land or livestock owned by the shooter. Fault on both sides but i cant condone shooting a loose dog on sight by any individual passing by.

When i was there the other week he had a few trailers on his forecourt, so you could take a peak. Im on the list for puppybars and its design to meet what i want. I looked at his own car and the quality is was good.

Anyone know if the rabbit fur tugs get through quarantine here? -

Does Frankston require to have passed their obedience classes up to a certain level or can a dog just be tested. Indi has good obedience but i am refusing to run her through club obedience classes. Have joined two but only way up is to complete the full obedience classes, and i believe them too long and boring. I was looking into the dedicated agility clubs for this reason but as has been said entry is hard. Unfortunately we miss out as too young by a week for the recent Doveton intake so will try it next time.

Have numbers been sent out for this show? I havent had any so far?

My weim was too strong and fast, though fortunately very accurate. I certainly had serious rope cuts. He was responsive to 'steady' though i never really trained for it, just used the word anytime he was over the top, whether it was tracking to fast, or racing around the house etc. I also used a horse lunge after one serious rope burn, it does afford you more grip with the wider band. Not ideal and frowned on by many a judge, but in training it will help you hold and slow better. Many people with strong dogs will also put the end of the lead behind their body and lean back on it. Recently i handled a freinds beginner dog in training who was way to overexcited causing her to be fast and diving side to side a lot as she wasnt focussing enough. With her we found if we did some heel sit drop attention exercise for a minute behind the start post (not looking for obedience trial standard just indication that she was listening to commands) she concentrated much better when then allowed on to the track.

Next weekend near Geelong, i assume you mean Inverleigh, is a TSD trial rather than tracking (this means the dogs already have their Tracking champion titles). The style of tracks are somewhat different. The meeting point for that trial is Victoria Park at Inverleigh, and people will disperse from there. Most trials are 2 or three days, you put in a single entry and hear in the days prior (it can be as late as the thursday) which day you are on. If you work mondays you indicate on your entry form or a note that you are unable to do mondays due to work. If there are simply not enough track for entries then they ballot, it isnt that common but some trials being smaller are more prone to it.

I looked at the ingredient list for puppy and adult and they appear the same. is this correct (other than %ages). Just curious as have been raising pup on the puppy, and occasionally the adults who are normally fed full raw have been having some as an extra. Last week i switched pup to adult and yesterday fed the adults some with their necks. Noticed my adult boy has a hot spot this morning, previously about 3 years ago we found these were linked to chicken livers in his raw diet, and have been free of them since. Just wondered if there is a link with the change from puppy to adult.

I went to swan reach shows in september and made a couple of trips into Lakes Entrance with my aussie, and found it very dog freindly. Numerous people stopped to talk to him, ask about him. Made a pleasant change to experiences in some beach areas on the peninsula where people make it clear they dont think the dog should be on the beach despite being there in the designated hours. Dogs were on the beach at Lakes, cant say i noticed anything to say they couldnt, and i found this to be the best town i have been to with regards to doggy clean up bins etc.

Maybe makes sense, but will see what happens when they get the full lifetime medical history, which they deny previously receiving....Beck had pancreatic insufficiency all his life, and at the time they never made much fuss about it or increase premiums which suprised me. I hope now we dont get a lot of fuss about pre-existing conditions...thoug he died from renal failure in all the research i did of EPI over the years there is nothing to suggest the two are linked. Wishing i never called them now...took me 2 months to deal with it, and i got Mr Insensitive on the phone.

I dont know. Previous experience with car and house insurances cancelling part way through a year incurs a fee and refunding of the remaining part year. And if it is because olicy is for 1 year and payments spread, then surely cancelling without claiming would be subject to same requirement to complete the year of payments. I staye away from pet insurance for many years, but after a near miss with a snake in the yard decided the cost of treating three dogs could become astronomic. Maybe i will just rethink that decision....just dont want to see them get away with never paying anything out now. Currenlty sorting out the multiple small bills for the other dog...shall be submitting those as well i think.

I insured all three dogs since 21 sept 2009 full cover...works out about $100 a month. Beck died suddenly 26 october 2011. I have filed a claim for his treatment during his 5 days of illness total around $800. Aside from them not having his vet history...which they were sent when we took out the policy...and saying they dont have his clinical records for the illness which they were sent with the claim form. They now tell me that if they accept the claim i will need to continue paying them $37 a month until october 2012....however if they dont pay the claim i can cancel the policy with immediate effect and make no further payments. This seems somewhat illogical to me, and obviously i am inclined to withdraw the claim and cancel immediately for all three dogs, not least because of their phone attitude, their losing all the records previously sent to them. But more than anything because i find it highly offensive and insensitive that they expect to continue taking money for a dog that has been euthanased and clearly will not be making any further claims. This is the first time i have claimed anything for any of the dogs, normally for small bills i just cover them and dont bother claiming. the insurance was really to cover cancer/snake bites rather than normal expenses. Im wondering if anyone else has found these same rules with other insurers as i am going to switch to an alternative asap, at least for my younger dog, the older one is over 9years so expectno others will cover her now. Yes i know this was probably all in the small print or among the various policy changes they notified me of since i first took this out.

Given there are jumps in the levels above novice, are we required to get an official height card for the dog?

I copied and enlarged them from somewhere..dont remeber where, there were heaps of sites when i went looking, but you had to make sure which ones you copy...some countries seem to have introduced a whole heap of ones we dont have. Mine ended up a bit fuzzy from the enlarging...so am looking to find another set somewhere. havent laminated them yet...but persuaded someone to buy me a laminator...seemed best option once i worked out the price to get officeworks to do them. Am currently looking at someway to hold them outside..indoors is easy. Some of the stands are expensive. Am thinking cones probably will be way to go, and clip or velcro them on.

the single station training aspect is quite useful i am finding with the lousy weather at present, i can use the kitchen/dog room to do one or two stations indoors.

I am looking at it with intent. Have so far opted to make signs to train by self...its summer and clubs are shutting down anyway. Am hoping that one of the local clubs will take it up at least to run a ring if not to train in it. I dont think i will be able to critique myself well enough to continue by self though, probably the video recorder will get a work out. Im opting for it with Jovi as have had concerns about putting an entire male into group stays (which i hate) so this seems the preferred option for the moment, plus i assume trials will be limited initially so will fit well hopefully with also doing track/search trials which are few in number too. Im not seeing it as a speed exercise, i want to preserve neatness as a priority with passes over first places as the priority, as i still intend he will go to the obedience ring at some point. Above all i am hoping that being able to speak in the ring will reassure the dog as i know my nerves are a major issue in the obedience ring, so maybe i can use rally to confidence build myself without destroying the dog along the way. I am also contemplating pulling my retired collie out for it, she knows all she needs but always hated the obedience ring as she knew rewards were off, but just having vocal praise may be ok for her, and i figure the biggest problem initially will be getting myself thinking quick enough about what exercise is coming next and my own footwork and hand positions. She can only ever do the inital level though because she isnt fit enough to jump. She is the one who will probably test my footwork most though as her automatic sit is still strong.

Mine is an old secondhand fibreglass, single tank, no heater. Having two heavy coated dogs (aussie shep and collie rough) i wish i had a twin tank automatic fill. Its pain taking buckets of warm water to the shed where it is located and the dogs hate being rinsed with the garden hose. I have mine positioned iso can get all round access but wish both long sides were low (though my weim hated baths and two low sides may have proved too tempting for him to jump out). Also access to plug means reaching down into the tank beneath the floor, which is hard while dog is still in bath. I would like to visibility of the pump area without turning upside down...sometimes i am not sure if we have a leak underneath and no way to see. Always concerns me the safety side of dog plus water plus electricity....we run with a load detect safety device at the plug just in case. Most of all what i would really really like is a clean concrete path from the bath to the house where i dry the dogs....not my mud driveway

Info i was given, 10am sunday at Bulla. You need to register with Judy Haynes in the Dogs Victoria office, and not to bring the dog.
