Now that's one way to describe a fugly pugly. IMO the Thai ridgeback looks like it's head is too small for it's body. I can't see it ever becoming a bogan breed of choice either. I think the SBT will always hold that #1 spot.

200 Dogs Saved, Bound For Chinese Restaurants
RL1 replied to mish13's topic in General Dog Discussion
I wonder if they've stopping eating the dogs for the welfare of the dogs, or is it really so it doesn't harm tourism ?? -
That's right... could potentially be 'masking' a very serious issue. My late rotty girl was prescribed pain killers by the local idiotic vet three times. All it did was mask what the real problem was. Bone cancer. By the time i said enough is enough and took her to another vet and a cancer specialist, it was too late. Diagnosis for my girl was arthritis and lameness, but in fact it was bone cancer.

All i can say DerRottweiler is if you're not happy with your vet or if you don't see any improvement, go and see someone else and get a second opinion, or a third opinion. What works for one dog, may not work for another. Some vets are good, some are s*^t. Your plan of attack looks like the right one though.

I really thought Rottweilers would be in the top 5 to be honest, but i can't disagree with the BC at #1.

How did you go LM ?

Sounds crazy, but i don't think i'll be able to have another Rottweiler after this. How could i replace her.... I've now lost both female's, mother and daughter, to the same cancer. Both in the same area. Both in March, almost 4 years exactly apart.

Overall i'm very happy with the service provided by Pets in Peace. I received my memorial piece today for Zara and it's very nicely done. I went and saw them in person the other week and picked out the cabinet i wanted and what photo's/plaque/writing i wanted and it's all come up beautiful. Very nice people down there at Logan.

It's one week today that i made the decision to have my beautiful, faithful female Rottweiler, Zara, put to sleep. The most difficult decision i've had to make. I could've brought you home and let you go on for a bit more, but i couldn't watch you struggle anymore. I've now lost you and your mum to the same disease. Almost 11 great, fun years together that won't be forgotten. From the day i brought you home, to the day we parted. I miss you my sweet girl. Never forgotten. 04/04/2000 - 14/03/2011 Zara is seen here at the back with her head resting on my boy. ( and her late mum at the front )

Thanks for the kind words. I'm in shock myself, but at least i know why. It's a lot more difficult than i expected. I really can't see myself getting another Rotty after this. As far as taking him to work with me, that's not an option either. With his temperament, getting another dog, any dog, would be risky. He's been a problem child from day one so it's a difficult situation all round.

What can you do to help a depressed dog ? My male rotty appears to be suffering from this. I work full time so he's home alone now that our beloved female passed away on Monday.

I took my girl to see Rod Straw at BVSC for a final opinion to put my mind at rest. No happy ending. Never have I met a more caring and compassionate person. It took me about 90 mins in the consult room to finally decide to let her go. Zara you gave me almost 11 of the best years of my life. Today is the worst day of my life. I'll never forget our last hug and your licks. Good bye my darling girl.

It's hard to talk about this, but has anyone here dealt with this P in P ? Can you trust them ? Were you happy with the service ? Thanks.

I had my Rotty girl given a full check up during her last two visits at my local vet. The vet said her problems were due to some arthritis in her front joint and gave her some pain killers which were to be used on her bad days. I wasn't happy with this and took her to another vet pratice recommended to me by DOL members and was told yesterday she has cancer. I now only have her for a few days more.

I got the news today i was dreading. An x-ray today showed cancer and there is no treatment. I have a very short time with her before i go back to AO and come home alone. Take's a lot to choke me up, but this did. Thanks to all who recommended AO at Ormeau.

Thanks Woof. Hope you're having a speedy recovery with your injury.

Another week before she goes back elsaone. She's able to get up on her own, but she can't walk too well. Her appetite seems to have dropped a bit too. I'm having problems getting her to eat her food with the joint powder mixed in. 5 teaspoons just seems way too much. So it's still not good news at the moment. I just have a feeling there's other problems yet to be found. Taking her to and from the vet practice is now a problem too. Getting her in and out of a 4x4 isn't easy. Putting her in the back of the canopy is now not an option in her condition. Getting her through the rear doors and into the A/C cabin isn't easy. I dropped her twice trying to squeeze her through the door. So i'm off to the coast tomorrow to look at buying a 2nd car that will be more suitable for the dogs.

for Animal Options. All the staff seem to have a genuine caring interest in the animals they treat. Well worth the extra travel. My old girl isn't out of the woods yet, but a positive start with Rowan at AO. A nice change from my local vet pratice.

Thanks Rottifan and Hesapandabear. Lots of good information. I'll be updating the thread very soon, unless i receive bad news. P.S Rottifan i tried to send you a PM, but it won't let me due to your settings. ??

How long is the wait to see Rowan ? It's 3 weeks for my dog.
