  1. Yes your right, sorry I went a bit off track. I was talking generally. He certainly wouldnt be handling a dog at the seminar
  2. Yeah i would just check as diff clubs have diff rules regarding child handlers I know! my current breeder told me he thought the kids couldnt do obedience until they were about 15. He was surprised that my boy has been training his dogs (officially) since he was 10. I think they should take it by the child and their level of maturity. I wouldnt let my mstr 8 do it, he is too flighty, but mstr 13 is very calm and dog savvy and was from an early age, however I can see how that would cause a headache for the committee, telling mommy that their little johnny can't train his dog but someone elses can - Oh dear!
  3. fantastic:thumbsup: My 9 mo BC rings the bell to go outside and I will be teaching my 8 wk old JRT to do the same. For now I just very closely watch her and everytime she goes to the door or shows signs , I take her out and by luck or whatever she has been eliminating so I praise praise praise. I use a crate and very close supervision when not in the crate Its busy busy but Im hoping it will pay off in the end
  4. Thank you TiggY Do you think my mstr 13 would be allowed to go? he does obedience training and is just starting agility with Fly (9 mo) and I am also interested in that more than obedience with Nell later down the track. I like to take mstr 13 along to whatever I can as he is young, eager and I think the dog world needs more young eager dog savvy kids

  15. Soo, today we have one more sleep I made sure I got a good sleep last night (with the help of a rest aid over the counter heehee)as Im anticipating a few sleepness nights. All good, though, I think the work we put in during the early days will stand us good in the future. How are you guys going to do the inrodcutions to your older dogs? Fly is very friendly and placid but can be a bit flighty without his walk, so Im going to take him for a long walk in the morning before I go get pup. Im going at 9 am now straight after I take the boys to school She is only 10 mins from me I think Ive got everything, crate, food, toys, food, bed, books, clickers, and the breeder is giving me collars, leads, 2 weeks food,2 bowls with her kennel name on:)toys, and a blankie out of the mothers bed. I think she is a star Tonight Im going to read over the info again about the early days, and intial training etc. Im going to practice NILIF and ToT from day 1.Nothing too heavy just basics ETA Im actually still not 100% on her name yet either Choices so far. Nell. Ascha. Ruby. Narla Ill add a pic, what do you guys think she would suit more?

  17. My pup is coming home this Friday aged 8.3 weeks, she will start pup class next,Saturday aged 9.4 weeks, in a reputable, highly recommended, used before, puppy trainers backyard with lawnmower, chickens, umbrellas, baths and all kinds of funny strange things a pup may enounter. She will begin training the minute she comes home, ie sitting for meals. treats etc, but it will be very gentle training for the first coupolde of weeks, just basic manners, toilet training, crate training and socialisation.
