I use the Fidos hydrobath and kennel wash. After reading this thread earlier today I decided it was a good day to scrub my bath out. For those who say their baths smell - it's time to clean and flush it out - filter too. Mine was over due and is now squeaky clean, smells great. Then I washed and dried 3 Rotties and 1 pug.....and cleaned out their runs. Someone said earlier about hose to attach to the bath for the drain water - not sure about the BARF baths but the Liberty takes the black water saver hoses that you can attach to the washing machine for watering the lawns. Also to empty the bath is foot controlled so you don't need to lean in to do it - will post pics if anyone is interested.

I have a Liberty twin tank and love it, would be about 8 yrs old now and has had a pretty tough life. Started out as a mobile but have been off the road for a few yrs now. When the day comes that I need to replace it I will get another from them. The door is fitted on one end and rinse tank on the other. Door is molded to fit and is almost leak proof. It has a large wash tank and 55 ltr rinse tank. I don't think it takes that long to heat up, if you turn it on before your ready, make a coffee or groom the dogs first it will soon be ready. http://www.libertyinternational.com.au/baths.html *note twin tank - the 55ltr rinse tank is fitted on the end of the bath, it is slim line so it doesn't take up much space.

I prefer them to be tattooed when desexed, there is no harm doing it and they are none the wiser. We had a rabbit desexed about 15 yrs ago and even he was tattooed. When Abby was desexed for some reason they didn't do her, I asked why and no reason, just not done. As a groomer I check for the tattoo while cleaning their ears, most are tattooed. One of the main reasons why I like the idea of tattooing them with desexing is if someone was to steal them for BYB - if they could easily see they are tattooed they would be of no use to them so wouldn't bother. I heard rumors a few years back that a puppy farmer had a friend in one of the local pounds - when a fluffy was found and not desesed they would call the friend up with a description of the dogs and claim them - pay the fine and take them home. I doubted it at the time but was reassured it was true. While I would like to think that my dogs would never end up in a pound I can not guarantee 100% that it would never happen. My yard is only as secure as the boundary fences, they are sound now but some of the wind storms that we get around here at times could easily damage a fence if no one is home to see it in time the dogs would escape. They all sleep inside at night but I don't do a check in the middle of the night with a torch before toileting them. Luckily none of them are not interested in trying to escape.

The short big of air time that it got on 10 was pushing more about avoiding UNregistered breeders and pet shops - so hopefully it will be a positive step in the right direction.

Barf and lamb flaps for the rotties. Barf and chicken necks for pug Barf for the pug pup. (eta - + goats milk, yogurt, egg yolk, karo) I am watching the pug pup lick his bowl clean as I type.

I am so sorry to ready about your puppy - I have been raw feeding for many years and yes I know of a pup that died from choking on bones - but you know what - I know far more dogs that have died from bloat eating a kibble diet. Anything a dog puts in it's mouth has the potential to cause it to choke. You recommended a raw diet because you believe in it and I hope you don't change the way your feeding them because of this accident. I think you have done as much as anyone can by offering a puppy to them, I feel so sorry for all concerned. If they are not ready for another pup straight away perhaps offer one in future or a partial refund if you think it would offer some comfort.

Liz - I posted this link a couple of weeks back for the formula from Leerburg - I have used biolac - Di-Vetelact and Wombaroo, but this is the best I have used and it is easily made up. I didn't have much success with the small teats from Wombaroo but your puppy is much smaller than my pug that I am handraising so it might be better for him. make sure you have enough holes for the milk to drip through as they do not have holes in them when purchased. http://leerburg.com/bottlefeeding.htm If your not seeing him feeding and he does not have a fat belly then I doubt he is - I would be supplementing him now because it is harder to bring them back once they start slipping away. If he is dehydrating then he will probably be quiet, you need to get milk in to him asap while he is strong enough to suck. Tube feeding is not hard to do but if he is able to suck it is better than tubing (IMO) Good luck, hope your little man will be ok.

I have bought heaps of the compost panels and use them for puppy pens and rabbit enclosures as well as fencing off trees or garden beds from the dogs. Great value and easy to join them together making a larger area.

Kristina - as you know this pic is from your website - can you please tell me what breed it is?

I personally spoke to one of the shop assistants and she had absolutely no idea what "working lines" - "high drive" was. One MALE pup was sold to a first time dog owner - with NO clue as to what they were buying....so if you call that "making sure they go to right homes" then we all know who the fool is here.... If you really think there is nothing wrong with breeding that litter - selling to a pet shop with no interest in the future of the pups - placing them in pet homes I really hope they ALL come back to you instead of being dumped or pts. I just hope all your "chickens" come home to roost....then you will be forced to clean up your own mess.....I just hope that no one is hurt or you would also have a legal issue to deal with as well knowingly selling dogs that are not suited to inexperienced family homes...

I got this in August but never bothered to reply - I found it tacky. 2 photos were included and I probably should have called to find out if he was on full papers, if not then maybe the breeder would be interested. Yes - found out earlier today when I made a phone call, I couldn't have gone last week any way. It looks like a great way to get the dogs fit. Planning well ahead is a good idea I think.

I got pretty excited about the idea of doing it last year but forgot all about it till now. Love the scooter/bike - I want one of them.

Karo Syrup Sway - Would this be a better option for toy breeds - looks like it would be good. http://www.whelpingsupplies.com.au/index.p...p;productId=170
-
They say on the website that it is thick and to thin it with cooled boiled water if necessary, I used goats milk so just added more goats milk. It also says do not use honey so maybe Golden Syrup would be the same. My little pug baby has been on this milk formula for one week now and has gained 140g, before it was very hard getting him to feed so weight gains were minimal. He loves this formula. As Sway said above - Wombaroo make smaller bottles/teats - http://www.wombaroo.com.au/images/wom_teats.jpg - these are the same bottles/teats that we used at the hospital when both my babies were born 12 and 8 weeks prem. I bought a small bottle and a teat (womabaroo) from the emergency clinic when Lizzy had her C section - poked several holes in it but found the pup was getting very tired so changed him to the avent new born bottle/teat. At first it was a mouthful but he managed very well, don't know how a Chi would go, but probably better than the Wambaroo teats. I think Sway sells these, if you want them then perhaps buy a set to have for next time. The wombaroo teats do not have holes - you have to put them in yourself.

Thanks Stolz, he is still small for age but will get there. He has had a good week. I had trouble with the teet being clogged with the egg. OMG I wish SOME-ONE would invent a decent teet for toy breeds. :D bridie, either use less yogurt or add extra goats milk to thin it out a bit. Did you use the yoke only? You can buy premature baby bottles and teats or use the small animal bottle and teats. My pug baby was very small and still managed to use a normal baby bottle/teat.

love it - just sad I am too slow to have caught on sooner.

Good luck if you go ahead with it. A few years back I had the brilliant idea of breeding rabbits for the dogs. I bought 4 female and 2 males NZW x Giant Chinchilla rabbits - but was actually 3 females and 3 males. Since they are large breed rabbits I allowed over 12 months before mating them - that was when we had a closer look and noticed we had the extra male - male rabbits will fight. I had several cages and pens set up, spent a "small" fortune growing them with all the expensive premium foods. They were not interested in breeding at first but soon caught on with the idea. Before I knew it we had over 30 rabbits and spent a lot of money growing them on premium foods - after all I wanted them to be healthy since they were going to be dog food. Time for the kill.... Unfortunately after all the time it took to set them up, watch the babies grow and playing with them (NEVER NAME THEM) and all the time we spent caring for them, cleaning their pens/cages and feeding them, cutting nails - we could not get past the thought of doing the deed....they have the most beautiful face... I gave a lot a way to friends as well as some losses but once we got the numbers under control they were kept apart for good. We are down to one beautiful ginger bunny now and don't think I would ever want to invest the time or effort in trying it again because I know we still won't be able to do it. A friend offered to dress them for me since I could not, so had some done and gave them a few for doing it. Only to find out that my dogs DO NOT LIKE RABBIT....but they will eat rabbit barf - go figure...

They will be beautiful pups, Cooper will compliment Jett well.

How exciting, sounds like a nice big litter Trina congrats. Looking forward to seeing lots of pics. Is Cooper the daddy?

Chicken, Abby will come out better off if she gets in to it with a fox - give them advocate for a couple of months while it is around, longer if necessary. If she gets bitten it might be worth calling a vet to ask if she needs vaccinating for anything. I don't think foxes are much problems here but could be wrong. She is a good girl for coming back when called even though she would have rather kept after the fox. When she was here the rabbit got out and she was called off him easily, Pink on the other hand took every ounce of energy to get her away and she was only 6 months old at the time. I can imagine how excited she got when she went after it.
