Big Dog used to produce the Dr B's Barf - Dr B changed companies and at first said they did not change the recipe then said made a few small changes however it was obvious there were big changes - not for the better IMO. Big Dog have made a few minor changes to the original barf including green tripe and have also added flavors, turkey for dogs and fish for cats. And increased the packaging to 3 kgs. I have been very happy with Big Dog, they are great to deal with and the dogs are very happy on it.

I used to feed my dogs Dr B's Barf and I was also a distributor of the product for many years, however when they changed companies and recipes my dogs and clients dogs stopped eating it. I hated the changes but the biggest problem was the dogs hated it more. I not only had to change suppliers but also lost a good friend in doing so.

Gee - how much ice cream would they need to consume for that to be a problem? Considering my dogs eat a raw diet ( + Black Hawk a couple of times a week) they are getting plenty of good nutritional value. :D
-
Yep - all mine love ice cream - but they only get vanilla. They also get other stuff that they really shouldn't .

I have taken 2 sets of Wahl KM2 Clippers to be repaired - 3 sets have already gone to the clipper grave yard since I began grooming about 10 yrs ago and another 2 sets are almost ready for for a transplant. Now I do not consider myself hard on clippers however when I was a mobile groomer they did have a hard life compared to the work now. I am using the Oster 2 speed that I bought many years ago but hate them - they are back up only. I have also bought and like the small shear magic clipper that were nice and quite for nervous dogs for their face, feet and tail but they have also died. If I have to replace clippers again I would prefer the Double K, but funds won't allow it just now - If I had a crystal ball they would have been my first choice from the start. Thought it would be easier adding a poll. Sorry if I missed any other clipper brands. What is the average life span of your clippers? What is it about your clippers that you do or do not like?

I won't be answering this one - to me it is too loaded and the old saying of "careful what you wish for " springs to mind... Too many variables which could see the demise of half the dog breeds - not just a small select few.

Sorry Julie, I forgot to send fabric on, I have it here to send. Not sure on the size of it but it's a bundle of assorted fabrics for quilting, will send it later today or tomorrow. Hope its not too late however if so just put it aside for the next project. Strapped for time until later today. -
I used to put my bunnies in the hydrobath and clip around their bits.

The Chows I used to do were beautiful, bloody big job though. In the end I had to knock them back it was too hard on my hands, stuffed me up for days afterwards. But they had lovely natures. Once they are fluffed up they are so cuddly. Well done and I hope you get lots of friendly doggies.

Thanks shortsteps I have seen that clip and it is hard to watch. ... I decided to delete what I had typed because it would have taken this thread in the same direction as the others. I thought these clips were informative. Ish - thanks for the pics - very different from the older style.

well i think not giving back $1500 would be very unfair. and as people have said above, fine I could always take the dog then and re-sell on the trading post.... Charming. You asked the bloody question. Some will refund. Some will not. What do you think a deposit is for? You put a $40k deposit on a house and just change your mind, good luck getting that back. If someone said that to me they would get their money quick fast, not the type of owner I would be looking for.

Ish - not nasty at all. It is only one pic and not a great quality pic at that - but what you see is what she was. She was like that - so I would "assume" she was correct for that time. That bitch was never sick her whole life, never had any health issues and she could run all day, I don't even remember her ever being lame. She was very healthy. Yes this was a very long time ago and from memory this bitch was to be shown, the only reason we got her was the breeders daughter had a baby and the breeder didn't think she would have the time to devote to her which was why she was 12 weeks old when we got her. They really wanted to keep her, I think they kept a sister. I remember my parents telling us to leave her ears alone and how lucky we were to get her, she had papers but no doubt they were thrown out a long time ago. Someone may know who bred GSD in Colac around 30+ yrs ago, but I have no idea on names. I grew up with this style of GSD and until I moved to the City 15 yrs ago I thought that was the only style they came in - I got quite a shock to see the changes and must admit I still don't like the modern look. My OH had a GSD x Collie Rough when we met and she was a stunning bitch, she was not as straight backed as Sadie but only slight bend in her back. If I could have found another GSD like Sadie I would have got one. Just want to say thank you to all the lovely comments about Sadie, I must admit I was worried about posting it - knowing how touchy the subject of GSD's can get. Thanks for keeping this thread nice :D Next time I am at my parents I will try to get more photos, I know they had lots. There are no stacked photos but hopefully I will find some showing different movements. ETA: Ish, can you post some pics of dogs in similar movement, it would be easier than me finding very old photos that are at my parents place. Might give an idea on shape. Any one else got photos to add?

Keep trying would love to see your dog. Thanks heaps for the info Going off topic here but since I found these pics (posted horse pics in the horse thread too) but the horses of the same generation have not changed. I mean the horses from over 30 yrs ago in my pics look like they could have been taken yesterday - why have so many breeds of dogs changed and not horses. My horses were not purebreds but strong, healthy horses.
-
Huge Congratulations Sharon and yes - your little peke can walk.

Would love to see pics of him, please post some. My daughter is after a GSD but I keep telling her she will have to wait until she leaves home. If you can send me some info about where he came from (PM) that would be fantastic, a friend is looking for another GSD but not in a hurry, she wants this style too. I think the neighbours were worried because the farm had been in the one family for over 80 years and didn't want change. They settled down when they realized that my parents were serious about farming when they bought more land. Not a bad effort considering they also had the local Bakery. It was a very busy lifestyle, they still have the farm almost 40 yrs later, so I guess you could say they were serious about farming.

Thanks - she was a lovely bitch. Sadie was not used for stock work, but a couple of times she slipped through the gate when Mum was coming down to the yards she proved she had a natural talent at herding, she could have worked all day without a doubt. We talked about getting her out more but a few of the neighbours made it clear that she would be shot on the spot if she was off the property so Dad decided not to encourage her to go near the sheep - not worth the risk. Funny thing was the original dogs came with the property - including a wonderful Dobermann bitch and the neighbours never worried about her, I suppose since she was already there and proved not a threat they didn't mind her. Cindy (Dobermann) was trained for cattle work and very good at it, hopefully I will be able to track down a pic of her. I also have a pic of my sister's Rottie taken over 20 yrs ago somewhere. Have posted a couple of horse pics in the horse thread too. Ahh - the good 'ol days. :D

Not looking for a shit fight but just wanted to share this pic of Sadie taken around 35 yrs ago - maybe longer. You don't see this coloring much anymore either - is it no longer desired? She was from a registered breeder and we got her at 12 weeks old, they ran her on because their daughter was going to show her, she had a baby so they changed their minds. No idea who bred her but she came from Colac. Now I am sure that she will be laughed at for several reasons and the back ground pic is not the best either but the only one I have here with me. Being a working farm all dogs were chained up unless they were working. She had run of the house yard and paddock but was chained when necessary. Any way - Sadie, she was a wonderful girl, gentle nature. Looks like it must have been a very hot day though.

To All The People Who Are Not Sure About Desexing Under 12 Months
Andisa replied to KOE's topic in General Dog Discussion
This. Also, the front looks OK, but it's hard to assess a dog that isn't standing. This is also a medium to large breed, but not one of the large sighthound or giant or molosser breeds that have a lot of long and/or big bone to grow into. Edit: Also, I am not a zealot about this. If the dog is not going to be asked to compete in performance events or keep up with a family of mountain hikers or cross country runners, then I don't think it's a huge drama to desex. However, I also think it's a reasonable decision not to. How do you know what the dogs life style will be? If a dog is desexed early and has sedate lifestyle and say at ~7.5months old is looking for a new home - it could be in for a very active lifestyle - say keeping up with a family who are in to mountain hiking or cross country running. We can not predict where dogs will end up if family situations change so much that they are forced to rehome pets but we can give their bodies the best chance to allow them a better healthier life beyond their younger years. eta: we also do not know when the dog advertised was desexed. -

One dog will not change my view on early desexing - as said already, that dog whilst stunning is still a pup, he has a long time to go before he can be a poster dog for early desexing. -

Here is a pic of Tua, hope he is found soon. For the locals please keep an eye out. -
Since Erny is not here to say it I feel the need to do it for her. Calendula Tea. :D Calendula Tea applied to the area will make a difference. Having seen just how much relief it gave my pug I am now on Erny's Calendula Tea band wagon.. Cheap and easy and it works.

you can scan the packet and then print it out on a special iron on transfer and iron it on to a fabric. If anyone has a a packet of the tea scan it and send it to me and I will do it for you. I was looking for photos I took when I was brewing it up when I was treating a pug bitch with terrible skin condition when she came back home. I used it because of all the times that Judi raved about how good it was so I was talking with her, I sent her photos of before and after - the difference it made in such a short time was amazing. Unfortunately I can not find the pics I was after but google is still my friend. :D Calendula Tea pics on Google This is a fantastic idea, I am happy to buy some fat quarters if someone will do what needs to be done - I think the calendula flowers and tea on it would be the finishing touch knowing how passionate Judi is about it. -
This is my hopeful but we have had a very - very slow start, hopefully one day our luck will turn around. Lerilla Ambition High "Charli" - 10 months old.

Love this pic and had to see where she came from and I got it right - she is one of Jane's babies She has a presence about her. I wish you luck with her future - but I don't think you will need it - Beautiful puppy.

We are going - haven't got my number yet, hope it didn't go missing in action. See you there Sharon :D. I took an envelope back to the PO today that was put in our PO Box by mistake - I told them it was a long way from where it should be, wonder how long it has been doing the rounds for now. eta: postie has been and I got it Looks like it will be a long day.
