Most produce stores will stock uncle albers dog food. Are you classing teats as meals - they are not the same. He needs meals.. He may not gulp all the time if he is fed properly. Years ago I bought a young Dobermann who was in similar condition - even when I got the weight on her she still ate every meal like it was her last - a life time of bad habits may be hard to break - but if you put his meals in a special gulpers food bowl he will have to slow down to eat it. The main bolded part has already been explained to you, no need to keep at it. However don't make excuses for lack of food. You need to see how a healthy Lab eats to see what is considered normal. As for the last bit - it seems you are the only one to have that opinion. When you started this thread you asked what is wrong with Horse - when all who have posted say the same thing then perhaps it is time to reconsider that your views are wrong.
-
So you have had him for 2 yrs. What condition was he in when you got him? I would think he is closer to being a Lab x BC too. Bones clean teeth - not carrots. You have got his diet so very wrong - he is begging for food like he has never been fed before because he is STARVING for more food. Please surrender this dog - he needs better care. I have tried to stay out of this thread because it is very disturbing - Horse 2008, please do what is right by this dog and hand him over to someone who can take better care of him. A dog in this condition will never be able to be a "balance support" dog - he is not strong enough for you needs. Can you get home help to provide you with the care you need?

Horse 2008 This is just not correct. At all. In any form. Yes - very strange thing to say...

My pugs came in season at 9 and 10 months, the Rotties came in at 7(x2) and 8 months. They will come in when they are ready - while the average bitch might be around 6 months I know a few who came in at only 4 months. I know many who came in at 6 months old but none of them were mine. Just the luck of the draw.

*puts up hand * It's good stuff - The only dogs I have seen on this food crap heaps - not saying they all will but it seems the OP was trying to avoid the dog crapping too much... The more fillers the more that goes through them but for the price of Uncle Albers it will put condition on the dog which he is in desperate need of.
-
To the OP - your dog is in serious need of a proper diet, it is clear that you are not feeding him correctly. If you are interested in how I feed my dogs send me a PM and I can explain how to improve your dogs diet. Sorry if that is rude and blunt but it was the best I could do right now.

Add a bag of "Lectric Soda Crystals" It can be used if your dog swallows something it shouldn't. Causes the dog to vomit instantly (within 30 secs). Where do you buy Lectric Soda Crystals ? I get them at the supermarket (for human baths, haven't needed them for the dog yet touch wood). My local has them in the first aid section near bandaids, deep heat etc. Or it might be in the laundry section - I have used it with our old GSD x Collie Rough when she decided to eat snail bate at the age of 10! No idea why she ate it but was very glad I had it on hand. From memory it was enough Lectric Soda to cover a 50c coin and it made her vomit almost instantly. We dosed her about 3 times and the vet said it saved her life. I always keep it in the cupboards now and thankfully have not needed it since. Fantastic for soaking away the aches and pains in a hot bath.

What a fantastic offer BB - melstar-36, I highly recommend you take up this wonderful and generous offer, you will be in the best hands with BB as a mentor. :D Gr 1 can be a scary place...

You may need to spend a few $$$ more than you want but you have to buy or make a secure enclosure. It will still be cheaper than a court case if your dog attacks someone if it escapes. Keep it inside and or crated until you get a secure run and toilet it on lead if necessary. It may be a hassle and time consuming but a far better option that PTS. eta: this thread is a couple of months old - it would be nice to know the outcome..

Awww, she was hanging around near us for a bit too.. something about puppies... they're distracting :p Puppies are very distracting but so worth it. I was very lucky to get puppy cuddles, thanks heaps.. :D :D - that's ok BB - another 6 this months so I am sure I will see you soon. :D I did look at a few trolley covers today so I might have a better cover next time. Got any pug results to share Lisa? um - no, sorry - but Jane will have. We got dumped again

Is nothing sacred anymore? Some people will take anything so long they don't have to pay for it. Yeah, I don't get it - the clips are of no real value what so ever but they were in use - I suppose I should be thankful they didn't take the pen too.
-
Well thanks for nothing to the "charming" person who thought they would help themselves to the 3 clips that were holding my toileting pen together - luckily I noticed before my Pug made an escape. If you wanted the clips so bad I would have given them to you. Oh and by the way, they were not the good quality clips that they must have looked like - careful what you use them for or Karma will bite you on the arse - they will break.. Apart from that, it was a good day, too bloody cold but glad that we were indoors.

Well - this will have to do for now. I got this far days ago (not quite finished) but stuffed up on the front flaps and was going to extend them (this one will stay home once I make another one) so it doesn't matter about the front. All up I spent around $30 but have enough to make another the same and one wrap around cover (sides only, no top) and attach velcro to fit it to the trolley. Once I get better I will make up a snazzy one. A friend got one a few months ago and hers was only $45 - they are now $75. Just wish I bought one at the same time. I didn't allow for the things that holds the trolley closed so next one will be looser. Also need to repair broken handle (again). Velcro is not lined up, I marked it out on the trolley, next time I will measure it out properly.

I was expecting them to feel better than the Wahl but they weren't - brand new set taken out of the box and plugged in for a minute - they did vibrate. I also have small hands. For now I will stick with what I have, they are comfortable and I am happy with them - just wish they lasted longer. The service was only $25 and about $8 for the parts that were replaced, can't complain about that.
-
Well I picked up my clippers and blades today and while I was there I checked out the Double K and Andis clippers. The Andis vibrates and I think this would cause me heaps of problems with my hands. The Double K felt heavy and the cord would really piss me off so I think I will just stick with the Wahl clippers for now. The 2 that were repaired were fine, just needed a service and a few minor parts. I will take the others in soon to be fixed so should be right for a while now with 4 sets back in action. I have cleaned and packed up the Oster clippers in their original box and will sell them with a few sets of blades. I am sure those who like using Oster would be happy with them as they have only had minimal use, I just never liked them. If anyone is interested in the Oster please contact me privately, they are in very good condition with just a few scratches but never been knocked around.

Thanks BD, yeah black would be hard to see in a pic, thanks anyway. I went to visit a friend and checked hers out - looks easy enough but has zips on all corners and in the middle back and front - not sure I want to put 6 zips in a cover. Velcro has worked ok. Hopefully the next one will be better, at least my first attempt fits, just might save it for home. And when you get used to making them, we can all put our orders ;) not at this rate - haven't started on the 2nd one yet, hopefully the penny will drop soon and it will all make lots of sense. But I did pack the sewing machines away...

I asked for some pics in the craft thread but no luck - should have asked here first. I am making up a show trolley cover for a 2 door trolley - so far it has been a marathon and the head ache that I have now makes me wish I wasn't such a tight arse and just buy one - however I have got this far... Can someone please post some pics of their covers please :D I was going to put zips along the side seems but used velcro instead. The ends have large pockets and I did muck up with the front panels so this one will most likely stay home and if I am silly enough I will do another one. Should be easier the 2nd time - yes? Funny thing is I used to make heaps of clothes for the kids and I made the girls dresses when I got married, curtains for several homes but this friggen thing is doing my head in. It was even easier making bean bags than this thing.. So if someone can please post trolley cover pics I would be very thankful.

I have never reused names for dogs but I did with a horse when we lost the mother 4 days later. She had many complications and at first we thought we would lose the foal, she survived but unfortunately the mare didn't. When talking about naming the foal mum suggested to name her after her mother - so we did. I never thought much of it, but it did seem like a tribute to name the orphan after her mum.

Big Dog used to produce the Dr B's Barf - Dr B changed companies and at first said they did not change the recipe then said made a few small changes however it was obvious there were big changes - not for the better IMO. Big Dog have made a few minor changes to the original barf including green tripe and have also added flavors, turkey for dogs and fish for cats. And increased the packaging to 3 kgs. I have been very happy with Big Dog, they are great to deal with and the dogs are very happy on it. Can someone tell me where I could get hold of some Big Dog, please? I am in the Southern Highlands of NSW. Maybe somewhere in Sydney either? Check their website for your local distributor http://www.bigdogpetfoods.com.au/ :D

Thanks for that - think I will talk to them about the Double K and if my clippers are going to be fine then I might sell some of them with a few blades and put that towards the Double K. I do like the idea of saving time especially on matted coats.. I also have a set of Wahl that I will give to my sister, they are working but not reliable, she only wants them to do his feet so should be fine for that.

Thanks for the feed back - much appreciated. I probably should have said above that I have problems with my hands, I get pins and needles when grooming so clippers with vibrations would make it worse. I find the KM's very comfortable and easy to hold, to me - the Oster are awkward and get hot, they are also a bit heavy. Are the Double K heavy - they look like it would take a bit of getting used to but I have only ever heard how good they are once you adjust to them. Might be worth looking at the Andis clippers when I pick mine up - thanks again :D Oh and I have mostly Oster blades some Wahl blades, as well as some shear magic which I do not like. I have a nasty habit of buying blades when I am too slack sending them in to be sharpened and now have over 50 sets of blades . I have 10 sets getting sharpened and will send some off each week until they are all sharp again. Need to stop buying more blades and scissors .

My little Maltese "Muffin" was more than capable to keep up with an old GSD x Collie Rough and young Rottweiler. He was only 3.5kgs or 4kgs on a fat day, he was in good nick for an old dog with buggered knees. The little fellas are pretty quick on their feet and the advantage if they do get tired you can carry them for a while without breaking your back. We used to take a back pack with us just for him if we were planning on a long walk - he loved it. So I would say if your little companion is reasonably healthy then he will be a pleasant surprise just how much he will be able to keep up. At 3 kgs he would be a pretty active little dog. Have fun ETA: My Pugs can go on reasonable walks with the Rotties, Charli runs most of the way and has no worries keeping up with them. The walks are usually around 3-5 kms. I just don't walk them if it is getting too warm.
