  1. Although, there are SOME dog owners..... yeah - but unfortunately we don't have any say about desexing for those  ...
  2. Personally I think it's best for the dogs to mature before desexing but easier for the owner if they are desexed earlier. edited to make it clear - desex the dogs - not the owners
  3. Yep I agree with that too. Pugs are useless with cheap ones. They are bull dossers  Once you have a good quality one you can take it anywhere you go. even when they are older Lizzy (Pug) bent the wires in the Rottweiler crates (heavy duty Rudducks crates) because she decided that she wasn't going to be crate trained any more. She chipped off the paint from the baby gates at the bathroom/laundry area because she wanted to be with us. She didn't just bite the bars - she screamed too. She even left little teeth marks in the show trolley. Was just easier to let her have the run of the house, she was an angel when she was with us but hated being locked away. She was rehomed successfully last year and she has trained her new family well. Charli has been totally different and to think I will be doing it all again later this year when we keep a pup from her.... Give me a Rottie pup any day - Pugs can be hard work compared to the Rotties :D . To the OP, things will settle down a bit, sorry for the broken sleep.
  4. What fantastic news Clyde - I bet your over the moon. Would love to have been a fly on the wall when your daughter saw him this morning, I have tears just thinking about it. what a turd in deed - cocking his leg on the table was just to remind you how much you would have missed him - if he was doing that to who ever had him and the flyers stating that he needed meds - thankfully they took him home.
  5. Oh god yes - one of mine went though the most awful stage that seemed to last forever, she came through it a very nice girl. For a breed that only comes in Black and Tan - they sure do vary heaps.
  6. He probably is a purebred but without the papers you won't know for sure. I would have liked to see more strength and bone at this age especially for a male, he still has a long way to go to mature so hopefully he will fill out lots more. If possible I would suggest keeping him entire for at least 12-18 months or better still 2 yrs to allow for maturity. However if he becomes a bit challenging then you may need to do it sooner. He is what he is so just enjoy the journey, they are fantastic dogs.
  7. Where are these types of potential owners when I have a litter - I would love to deal with someone like them, unfortunately I have dealt with several shockers who have been the main reason I keep delaying my next litter. Are they open to discuss other breeds? I have had a hell of a time getting through to some breeders too and I often joked tongue in cheek that it is easier to get a friggen home loan than a good puppy...
  8. Lizzy (Pug) only had 2 litters and she was spayed at 4 yo before she was rehomed. Abby (Rottweiler) was spayed around 17mths old before she went to her new home with DOL member Chicken. Piper (Rottweiler) spayed recently and has just turned 7yo - only had 2 litters, both em c sections. Piper's spay was not an easy one, vet was stunned with the condition her uterus was in - said it was a mess, badly scarred and very thick - difficult spay. Had she been left entire she was at greater risk of health problems. She bounced back very well and I only wish I had her spayed sooner. In future all dogs will be desexed once I know I won't be breeding with them - especially if they had a c section.
  9. I have a Liberty table and love it - sold and sturdy. Crap pic but gives you an idea how strong it is. Pink and Hamish are 3 yo and combined weight of around 85kgs. This one is from Woofer wares - has adjustable height and very sturdy, great table. Hamish loves this table, he jumps up every chance he gets even though it is far too small for him. They come in large sizes too, this was more expensive than the Liberty table.
  10. I have only had the one singleton and I hand raised him, nothing was normal or easy. Poor boy almost died from aspiration pneumonia when he was only a couple of weeks old and we fought for another couple of weeks to keep him going. I annoyed him when he was feeding, sleeping, playing - trying to replace his litter mates (2 died em c section), he had plenty of toys and the best one was a cat that is in a curled up position - perfect for snuggles. Maverick is now 2 yo and has grown in to a handsome, strong, determined, stubborn, prick of a dog and it's just as well his owner loves him. Before he went to his new home at 12 weeks old I did warn Christina that he would be very independent, he fought hard to live when the odds were stack against him so he would not be a push over - I get all the updates on his antics by phone or FB, never a dull moment . Just as well he is a Pug, I don't know how I would have dealt with things had he been a Rottweiler .
  11. I just posted in another thread about Hamish just getting over pancreatitis, his "may" have been triggered but too much lamb so will be feeding him chicken - this is not what I wanted to read about chicken... Good luck with Grumpy, hope he is feeling better soon.
  12. I used to feed a lot of chicken but for some reason swapped over to mostly lamb. However Hamish has just got though a bout of pancreatitis that must have been triggered by too much lamb - so we will be going back to mostly chicken and no more lamb for Hamish. I raw feed my dogs and have always fed bones but will admit to feeding too much lamb, they have it most nights, the others are fine and have not been affected by it but will be making changes to all their diets now. If anyone tells me that too much chicken is bad I will scream....
  13. What gives you that idea? A dog is only going to be a monster in a house if allowed to become one! And yes - he is a dog but he is puppy - give him a break. He has left home rather young, lost mum and his litter mates. oh and wild dogs as already mentioned HAVE EACH OTHER...
  14. Fingers crossed that Haidee can hold on for as long as possible. I had a Rottweiler litter 6 days premature and that was pretty borderline in my opinion. Send me a message if you would like and I can tell you what we did. Good luck. eta: Hopefully this link will be of some use, I received so much advice and support in here, it's rather long though. My link
  15. I have no idea just what I have and if I was to gather everything all together I am sure I would never understand just where it all came from - add over 10 yrs of dog grooming and that is a lot of dog gear.. eta: because I have large and small breeds I have everything to suit size - doubling up on lots of things.
  16. Someone will be seriously missing her - hope she is chipped and reunited in the morning.
  17. You can't have too many sets of the Bunnings compost panels, they come in very handy. I have used them to block doorways, make a surround for the whelping box to create a den and to hold the heat lamp and to keep the little treasures in. They make great puppy pens and rabbit/chicken enclosures and a quick patch job for a broken fence panel and to fence off growing trees and veggie gardens. Have also cut one panel to make a trolley divider and water bowl holders secured to the trolley with collars and cable ties . Oh and apparently they are pretty good if you want to use them for compost .
  18. Thanks everyone - have past on details. oops spelling
  19. Thanks heaps - have sent the details on. Fingers crossed things are not as bad as first thought.
  20. Let her decide when she is ready to share her pups. Piper (Rottweiler)was happy to show the world asap, have pics of Lizzy in the whelping box with Piper when Lizzy was a puppy and Muffin (elderly Maltese) sleeping just out of the box. Lizzy (Pug)waited 3 weeks before she was ready share with the others.
  21. As per title, looking for a good vet in or around Albury. My niece has been to the vet and has been told that her young husky pup has HD. I have sent her a message asking if the vet did xrays and waiting for more information. Anyone know and/or recommend a good vet in Albury?
  22. What is the name of the tablets that help control incontinence? Might be worth trying them.
  23. I have just had another delivery and so far have not seen any changes. I don't feed the Roo though but a friend just got 3 cartons of Roo with this delivery - will see her tomorrow and ask her is she has noticed any changes. Best thing to do if your not happy and especially if a foreign object is found notify them asap - let them know. They may not know they even have a problem and if it is brought to their attention they may need to do a recall on the product. eta: - I don't fully thaw the food though, so might do it next time to see what it looks like. My dogs eat it partially frozen.
  24. Great idea, will keep this in mind if/when I breed another litter. Lots of fun is had with this baby Now that machine means business. I am quite thankful my breeds comes in a multitude of colours and markings and generally no collars are required Yep - gets the job done fast. Think I will do a few practice collars and see how they go - but must admit I am worried about puppies chewing the plastic snaps off. Idea is good but not sure if it will be practical. Probably no different that normal plastic buckles on collars - but worth trying. Would be lovely having a breed that comes in a variety of colors.
