Give them a call mate, last i heard they still had money left over from the bushfires that they were saving for this sort of thing. They should be able to help with temporary dog runs and such. They will also be no doubt getting dry food donations and dog bedding and such. (And if not they need a kick up the bum) Let us know what else you need, we may be able to hunt around here at the markets for couches, cupboards and stuff that we can help with, can also visit op shops for old blankets and sheets for dog bedding. Anything at all let us know, stuff for the kids etc......... Write a big list of stuff, big and small and post it here.....PLEASE? I know you won't like doing it but please just give it a go. I am sure if all us DOLers clean out the garage or the dreaded "JUNK" room we will be able to help out with lots of stuff you need that will otherwise be going to waste. I want to get a new washing machine in the next week or so, you can have this one..... Its a front loader and is not even 18 months old. May also be able to get a upright freezer, it works great. We also have here a assortment of TVs, big and small that are all just going to waste. All work and are colour. We have a sofa bed, its a little torn on the arms but with a few blankets thrown over it will look ok and it sure is comfy and has the added bonus of being a bed. Have a small TV cabinet, 1 door has come off but with a handy man and 5 seconds with a hammer would be good as new, its very sturdy and heavy wood. Have an assortment of collars, leads and dog stuff too. Edited to say: Thanks Steve, yes it arrived with much thanks!!! Was able to give pups back with a big bag of Artemis dry, 10kg of beef and 10kg of bones (so their diet didn't change) as well as cover what we spent! But must say, I miss the puppy cuddles!

Show Entry Forms Download (australia)
ShellyBeggs replied to shellbyville's topic in General Dog Discussion
On my printer the showmanger forms are slightly oversize but I think the problem is that unlike the dogsoft program it does not give you the edge to cut along the top and the left hand side........it assumes it prints right to the edge of the paper however my printer automatically leaves a margin. If i were to give it a trim it would be about the same size!!! The whole ACT thing on the dogsoft program drives me spare as I like to save paper and print from the briefcase and then you get 2 entries per page.......so I registered for showmanager last night and have been playing around!!! So far it looks EXCELLENT! -
Cairn got baby!!! We had a great day......our silly valhund decided he was on strike due to the mud and I almost dragged him around on his belly as he refused to walk. And the rotty decided to have a princess sparkle moment and be silly in the mud!!! and even funnier was our frenchie baby who was shown by ZednQ and bunny hopped around like a rabbit on speed as he had never seen mud before!!! Great stewarding btw!!!! Great to sort of, not really, meet you!!!

If you can call the dogs name to get the dogs attention......why then can you not wear a name badge, kennel advertising on your clothing, another badge announcing your affiliation with the club and/or what trophies you donated and announce as you enter that the dog is a three times BISS winner...... why????, because its ment to be an impatial decision by the judge of those dogs on that day at that time. If you are in the ring and someone on the outside is calling the dog next to you......and the judge hears the dogs name and thinks....."Oh rover won BIS last weekend, I better award it BOB or I will looks silly" and then you are at a disadvantage because the judge has made a decision without really considering all that dogs on that day!! Typically, but not always, at specialty shows allowing double handling.......the judge is a specialist judge, maybe from overseas, and wouldn't know who Rover is from Fluffy so all the double handling outside the ring means nothing to the judge. Neither specialty showing or all breeds showing are perfect......you will still get incorrect, Lame or mismarked (etc) dogs winning when you think they shouldn't......... but both disciplines are not about to combine as this still wouldn't make the system perfect for everyone........maybe that is why there seems to be more and more people doing either all breeds OR specialty, Otherwise embrace the differences and enjoy doing both as 2 different sports.

When A Judge Does Not Examine Your Exhibit
ShellyBeggs replied to Jumabaar's topic in General Dog Discussion
Bite? Testicles? Coat texture? Etc. I much prefer when a judge asks me to show my dogs bite.......too many times I have had experiences and have heard complaints about rough judges or apprehensive judges make dogs uncertain of this. Testicles are a given.....although to be honest, in some cases its pretty obvious that the dog has 2 testicles of similair size. Coat texture a brief touch if required for the breed............ Grand total the judge if required has touched your dog for less than 20 seconds........and then only if required!!!! Not in my breed... the pelt needs to be lifted off the dog's body, the texture must be felt and undercoat checked, bite needs to be examined, head needs to be measured (poor or clever grooming can alter the appearance), pads must be felt for thickness. Ribs need to be spanned (requires lifting the dog's forequarter off the table), tail should be measured. The smooth is similar- head should be measured (markings can alter perception), tail should be measured, undercoat should be checked etc. There will always be exceptions for some breeds..................... And you learn something about another breed every day...... I am of course, speaking in regards to "in general"....... and I have to ask ........how often is all that checked/measured in your general all breeds show??? -

When A Judge Does Not Examine Your Exhibit
ShellyBeggs replied to Jumabaar's topic in General Dog Discussion
Why does so many people want or more to the point NEED the judge to touch your dog??? A good judge, in most cases, shouldn't need to touch your dog.......and I think far too many do unnecessarily, and wasting time, because of this ideal exhibitors seem to have! If they can see right off as you enter the ring that your dog has for example, poor hind angulation or light eyes or not enough forechest, why waste everyone's time if to that particular judge, the winner is obvious? Why go through the motions when there is no need? Doesn't everyone want to get home earlier rather than later? Surely a judge can, in most cases be able to see angles, substance, bone etc without the need to go all over your dog???....... the exception may be in some coated breeds obviously. sorry I am a little confused!!! -
Nope!!! I wonder if anyone knows if we will be able to leave gazebos up since we will be back a few days later???
-
Thanks heaps mate.......its enough to do the entries and send them off!!! Hopefully by the time I need to know about entry and exit times and such the Dogs NSW site will be up and running!!!
-
Thanks Mate!!!

That would be great thank you!!! Since the online gazette has been down for what seems like ages........
