  1. Just 2? If it's specific behaviours then housebreaking and recall - although walking nicely on a loose lead is right up there with recall. If it's general 'things' then it's - you can completely trust me, I am always a safe place, and - yes, I am the boss of you but that's a good thing as I have lots of fun things to teach you.
  2. dobesrock, I think there are a few answers. Some people who feed kibble don't add other things like mince beause they feel it makes the dog more likely to become fussy and refuse to eat the dry food on its own and that it's unnecessary anyway. I am not familiar with that issue because I don't feed like that but I don't dispute that point of view. Personally I think mince of the sort you describe, which has the bones in it as well, is good although probably not with all the benefits to teeth and jaw/neck muscles of crunching on whole carcasses etc. For puppies especially, people can get issues if mince is relied on and has no bone - I feed mince like that occassionally, but wouldn't want to rely on it.
  3. wasn't the weather brilliant, after the fog on the way there it was one of those perfect Canberra winter days
  4. I'm pretty sure it is photoshopped. They are pretty medium size dogs from memory Some Hyena species females can get to 60 ++ kilos, so not medium. Not dogs either. Not until Deshonko get hold of them anyway!
  5. I know pf, it's heartbreaking really. You'd think they were buying a toaster. (ps - cheques in the mail, right?)
  6. SBT123, I'm sorry but I think you are blaming the poor fraudster breeder unfairly. They were ferrets dogs after all, and it is buyer beware you know. I bet you didn't even hire a private investigator or search court records for info on the breeding stock did you?? Did you even read the very small text in Armanian on the website? Well there you go, no wonder you were a tad disappointed - inadequate research.
  7. If the Club won't ban the dog, he should at least wear a muzzle while on the training ground. Maybe suggest that as a compromise solution while pointing out their possible legal liability if they let the current situation continue and he bites another dog or person.
  8. We'll cheer you on IW4ME, whether he behaves or not. But if he drives you to drink, can I come to?
  9. I thought Hounds had Mrs G Ford on Sunday, and were the only group to have her as a judge that day. So not sure of the problem? Unless there has been a change of judge I missed?
  10. The dog is clearly not viewed by them as their pet, or they would not be returning it because of comments on its show potential.
  11. That's if they have been unlucky - unless the mouth has really gone, it could still just be a baby going through the uglies, a few people very keen to point that out, and an owner with no confidence in their choice.
  12. Would you believe I heard the local radio station's vet broadcast a dire warning based on an email she had received, with much emotion. I nearly rang up and pointed out how long those emails had being doing the rounds and that the mulch is not believed to be sold here - but the info given out on that show is so often wrong decided not worth the effort.
  13. Yep, the parents who don't realise your dogs are not there solely for their kids' entertainment get a short sharp reminder from me. Gentle kids and polite parents are more than welcome, and I'm happy to show children how to approach the dogs. But if the kids are rough and persist despite being asked otherwise the parents get a very blunt message - and so does the child if it's old enough to understand. I am happy to be an assertive bitch and send them packing. I wasn't perfect as a child, but I certainly didn't treat other people's animals badly. There is no excuse for that.
  14. My numbers only came with a group break down, not by breed. If any one has the breed numbers that would be great.
  15. I did the same sort of thing but just with hessian over the palling fence on my side a few years ago, it stopped the neighbour's JRT from aggressing at mine so much because he couldn't see them anymore. After a while we took it down, he was used to their presence by then so didn't worry. The JRT was there first, it was us moving in as new neighbours that upset him.
  16. I had the same note on the back of mine and it made me smile. Things to know - if you go to the steward to advise one of your dogs is absent take their number with you to hand in. A steward bit my head off recently for not doing that and I had no idea I was supposed to, I'm not usually there if they are scratched.
  17. I've had a complete stranger stop and help when one of mine was being harassed by a loose dog while we were while out walking - I really appreciated the kindness, so good on you.
  18. I hope the Fauve people have someone lined up to take photos! Elkie, will it be Bond's first show after the BIS? You must still be on a high
  19. with an English judge for Fauves on Sat! No she is doing the main show isn't she? Please don't tell me I entered the wrong show on Saturday as well as missing the other one. I will cry huge tears of disappointment. No don't cry! You entered the right one! I thought you hadn't entered any, this thread kind of covers all of them despite the title. 5 shows is a lot, not sure how I'm going to go the distance - you were probably smart to focus on that one. I wish we had the English judge as well.
  20. LOL, I feel like that at most shows. Must go buy wellies this weekend just in case.....
  21. I'm about the same for adults, 8 or 9 hours and if longer than that I skip home to check on them. But occasionally longer work days are unavoidable, and they seem to cope. It depends so much on the dog - my old dog would be quite happy alone for very long periods, she mostly just wants comfort and sleep and isn't going to get into any mischief. The younger two have each other for entertainment, but I'd still not leave them alone anywhere near as long, they need a lot more company and stimulation. And because they are so active they could potentially injure themselves or do something else a bit silly and need rescuing - unlikely, but a reason not to leave them too long without someone checking.
