I have had several entire males and had no behaviours from them that were troublesome. Actually now I come to think on it I have never desexed a male. Yes you will need good fences, but that is true for any dog I would have thought. Mine also mixed with other males without hassle, but that might be a temperament/breed thing. Just good responsible dog ownership should cover it, with maybe a bit more clarity in teaching what it isn't acceptable to pee on.

How long have you had the pup? If you are still in the first week or so I wouldn't worry too much, it can take a bit for the older dog to get used to the idea. I would just make sure the pup doesn't get to pester the older boy, and the older one doesn't get left out at all.

You might want to check out Caddy Storage I think they do dog fit outs now.

I actually woke up thinking about this pup. If she does have a urinary tract unfection as I suggested last night and you are reacting as if it is dominance it is setting up further problems. Please get her checked out by a vet for an infection before treating it as a behavioural issue. Utis are not uncommon in puppies and should be ruled out first.

Six times in an evening sounds like a lot even for a 10 week old, are you sure she doesn't have a uti?

None of my current three have ever escaped. On one occasion years ago one of mine was at a friend's farm, I had gone into town without her as she was playing with other dogs. Another visitor came by and went through 2 farm gates leaving both wide open behind her and my girl went off looking for me. The owner of the farm had spotted her missing and got her back before I returned, but the visitor was in deep trouble from all of us, such a stupid and lazy thing to do.

How Old Was Your Bitch When She Went On Heat For The First Time
Diva replied to Amstar's topic in General Dog Discussion
Everything from 6 months for a Belgian Tervueren to 22 months for one of the Borzoi. The Borzoi don't always cycle twice a year either, it can be 8 months between. -
Not sure. I know the minimum heights are only 24 inches for a female and 26 for a male, so maybe some aren't as massive as the photos. It was the drop ears and expression that made me think of them, so many of the other spitz are prick eared and have kind expressions.

The sense of entitlement some people feel they have to stick their nose in can be pretty gobsmacking. Such self righteousness!

I am very sorry for your loss

The Oztrail compact fits a lot of cars, it is 2.4m x 2.4m set up. The deluxe is bigger and heavier but 3m x 3m. I got the compact to fit my vehicle at the time.

On mine I want to be able to feel all the ribs without pressing, and even then my chiropractically qualified vet may tell me they need to lose a kilo or two. Once I groom them up for show ring though an observer who doesn't put their hands on them might think them over weight. Makes me a bit skeptical about how they judged highly groomed coated breeds from photos.

There was an adult soft coated wheaten outside my local IGA yesterday. Totally gorgeous.

How are they today?

You haven't got any blood and bone or dynamic lifter fertilizer around I suppose?

Bunny is very cute and was very well behaved.

Very sorry for your loss. I recall some of the stories of him.

My walking leads are leather from k9pro. I have a gripper too but dislike it, the leather feels much better.

Are you in the ACT Sheridan, or am I confusing you with someone else? If you are I have a just turned 12 month old large breed dog who has a pretty good energy around other dogs. Happy to offer her up for a meet and greet to add to your list of strange dogs met. Can't help with babies or the elderly though.

It does sound like she needs structured ways to satisfy her drive, you may need one on one help from a good trainer. I have always had high prey drive breed dogs, and never had a problem getting them to live safely with cats or get along with small dogs. I wouldn't expect them to be safe around guinea pigs or rabbits though, and the possums have learnt to go over the yard rather than through it.

Puppy Just Won't Drop - Some Suggestions Please
Diva replied to wonder's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Like Spotted Devil suggests I would capture it. Wait until she drops going about her day today business, add the cue as she goes down and reward. Needs reasonable attention on your part but not otherwise hard. -
That sounds great. It is very heartening to see people take on their dog's difficult behaviours and successfully retrain them. Good on you!

All mine are crate trained as puppies They don't sleep in crates, the crates are only used for travelling or a new or visiting dog They stop using the crates at a few months of age, once I am sure they are ok overnight in the house.. Exceptions are dogs who come here as adults, they stop sleeping in crates as soon as I am confident they are cat safe, which is anything from a few nights to a few weeks. Crates when used are in the living area.

I haven't shown for a few years but when I did work always came first, I can't imagine prioritising a hobby over a career. But plenty of folk at my workplace work four days a week so if that is your intention it may not be the impediment you imagine.
