  1. I love kids, but I really don't think that a busy off-lead dog park is an appropriate place for a young child/toddler to be walking around in.
  2. You must be joking Brooke The dog belongs to you, the foster kids don't.......no contest is it really???. Longcoat, you are a tool. I wish you would take your distasteful and inappropriate comments somewhere else ... Actually although I seldom agree with anything Longcoat says, on this subject I feel exactly the same way, I would never dispose of my dogs so that I could keep other peoples children. As someone else said, different people have different priorities. Sad. Though not unexpected from a forum full of children haters. Good thing the OP doesn't give a crap what you can or cannot wear. WTF do you suggest that she does with the teenage foster children she has??? Simply 'send them back'?? Where do you think these children will go? Or do you not care? Honestly, you people are stupid.

  4. A couple of weeks ago Mia had started doing this a few times a night, 1am, 3am, 5am and a few times between 7am and 9am. Only she wanted to go food searching She would sniff the bowl and then want to come straight back in. After three nights of it I just left her out there after the first yip. The next day when she yipped to go out, I let her out and left her there. I only let her back in when she was quiet. She now knows if she yips and carries on, she goes outside and stays there. She only comes back in when she is quiet. She has been an angel ever since.
  5. Aw thanks! I think she's damn gorgeous too! Honey and I would love to play one day! and I'd love to meet your beautiful broken Dally! :D Hang on- when did you move to Sydney?!! Didnt you used to live in Qld? haha I moved to Sydney in December Mia doesn't have very many Sydney friends yet.
  6. I have the same problem with my dalmatian. I know that she is being fed though, so that is all that matters. She looks fine and happy She is gorgeous Mia wants to have a play with Honey one day
  7. $35 an hour??? That is excellent money for relatively unskilled work. The basic wage is well below that, around $20 isn't it?? I would charge that to pick up shit all day too
  8. Breed: Dalmatian Age: 2 Weight: 25kg Food: Raw Daily: 1 chicken frame and a couple of chicken feet. Cost: Probably $1.20ish a day. She gets bones a few times a week, so another $4 a week added onto that - $12.40/week.
  9. I knew who you were The doggy dancing was great! Thanks Steve.
  10. I am heading down there today so I don't have to get up early tomorrow See you all tomorrow
  11. But why fix something that isn't broken? We know what dogs thrive on (meat!).
  12. Your poor dogs :D Your dogs don't care about your beliefs, so why you go to so much effort is rather funny.
  13. oh I am so not coming now ETA: and at least your dog comes back to you when you call her At least your dog is quiet and doesn't have a reputation for stealing donuts At least your dog doesn't pee on people And he's definately not quiet either as soon as he can't see me anymore he's horrid - I couldn't even leave him at the ekka to go to the toilet without him barking! Maybe Steve could teach Kari that it is rude to wake me up by sitting on my hand...so that his testicles were in my hand
  14. oh I am so not coming now ;) ETA: and at least your dog comes back to you when you call her At least your dog is quiet and doesn't have a reputation for stealing donuts True. I win
  15. Think he'd notice if I swapped his GSD for my dally?? *begins to scheme*
  16. oh I am so not coming now ;) ETA: and at least your dog comes back to you when you call her

    Dalmatian

QUESTIONS 1. What is my relationship with the breed? (ie breeder, first time owner etc) Owner. 2. What is the general temperament/personality? I describe dallies as happy or enthusiastic I find my dalmatian to be very affectionate. She also loves being close and observing my daily activities. Dallies are natural clowns and will always have you laughing at something silly they do. They need a firm and consistent leader and need to have their boundaries set and made clear from the day they come home. 3. How much daily exercise is needed for the average adult? My dally needs about 30-40 mins. I find walking sufficient enough for Mia. She also loves fetch, so we do a lot of that. It depends on the owner and their lifestyle. The dalmatian usually adapts to that. 4. Is it a breed that a first time dog owner could easily cope with? Yep. Just be firm. 5. Can solo dogs of this breed easily occupy themselves for long periods? I would say yes, if they are given the correct amount of stimulation to keep themselves entertained. If I plan to be out all day I will walk Mia before I leave and give her a bone and a treatball. She sleeps all day... 6. How much grooming is required? Once a week I give my dal a brush with a Zoom Groom. Whilst this doesn't eliminate shedding, it helps keep their coat nice. 7. Is it too boisterous for very small children or for infirm people (unless the dog is well trained)? This depends on the individual dog, their temperment and their training. But they are excitable dogs and may accidentally knock over a small child. I have found my dalmatian to be excellent with children of all ages. She adores my nephews (aged 1 and 2) and is very gentle with them. She follows them around observing everything they do and plays endless games of fetch, even though the ball only gets thrown 5 cms The tail is one thing to look out for! Happy dalmatian :D
