  1. Maybe some improvement but not sure if it is my wishful thinking seeing that. She will be 5mths old this weekend and going to take new photos then. I am still just feeding her the Holistic Select giant and large breeds puppy food and one thing I have noticed is she is pooing 3-4 times a day and huge ones too!
  2. Hi again Thanks for all your information. I have been doing some more research on the net and have found that apparently sulphur powder (which stinks like rotten eggs) keeps snakes away as they hate the smell of that. Also moth balls keep mice/rats away but need to be put where they are out of reach of dogs, cats, children. Not sure where you would buy sulphur powder - maybe from a garden improvement centre and you put it around the perimeter of your house/yard/fence line and in a strip about 15cm wide. I would be willing to put up with some smell if it meant my dogs & family were safe. We have pythons, taipans, death adders, red belly black snakes and eastern brown snakes here in the Cairns area.
  3. Has anyone got the snake repellers that go in the ground and vibrate and keep snakes away. Do they work ? Can you recommend a brand that works better. There used to be a product called "snake off"? and you sprayed it around your property and it kept them away.
  4. not sure how these pics show how bad they are.
  5. That's great, hopefully just with the dry food alone she will improve! Can you post pictures of what they look like at the moment, as they improve could you keep us updated with more pictures? Hannah

  7. No, they recommended I stick with the Holistic Select giant/large breed puppy food. So who mentioned Chum? You might as well feed the dog dirt mixed with water! Someone else I know said you can feed them Chum because of its low nutritional content to reduce the level of protein to a minimum while she has this problem. I told the vet and they said you can feed her that if I like but recommended I stick with what I am feeding her now which is the Holistic Select giant/large breed puppy food. This is what I will be doing. No Chum.

  9. Took my puppy to the vet today and got x-rays taken. All is ok with her bones and growth plates. The problem is that her muscles/ligaments etc are growing faster than her bones and they have nothing to attach to.We need to slow down this growth to allow the bones to catch up. She needs to be on just dry food only and no other supplements including vit c or ester c - just dry food. It can be cheap food like Chum or a large/giant breed puppy food but as long as she just has that and nothing else and that she needs to do this for a few months. I am to keep her rested as much as possible with minimal exercise and definitely no jumping around which is not going to be an easy task as she is a little cyclone. Guess she will have to be crated for periods of time during the day as well as we normally do at night time. She is to be walked on grass for her walk in the morning and not on the footpaths. Thanks to everyone who has given me advice and help with this.
  10. I am feeding her Holistic Select - large & giant Breed Puppy biscuits
  11. That makes a lot of sense. Do you give the Vit C in a powder form and can you recommend what brand/where from. Thanks.
  12. Hi My puppy is a Ridgeback. Should I give her the adult puppy food for the extra protein? How does the vit C help? All the breeder has told me is that this happens when they teeth but never seen this before nor had a puppy that has had it dew claws removed.
  13. Hi I have a 4mth old puppy with weak pasterns and splayed paws. We first noticed this happening when she was about 10 weeks old and was told to give her calcium powder in her food. Since then we have been told to NOT give her this as this is making her bones grow too fast. We feed her puppy dry food for breakfast and dinner and some raw meat/chicken necks for lunch. The breeder also had her dew claws removed when she was 6weeks old. I have also been told that sometimes weak pasterns/splayed paws happen while puppies are teething but have never experienced this before. Has anyone ever had this problem.
