  1. My dogs can all eat out of each others bowl, they know no growling is tolerated if one dog leaves there bowls and wanders over to another, maybe cause they know I am the one that will tell them off so they not need to.. But I do have 1 food aggressive dog, he gets fed seperatly and is quite happy... Mine now get fed in a crate anyway, but otherwise they can all be fed next to each other without a problem... I would continue to feed the dogs seperatly and I would not be tolerating any bashing on the door etc, maybe try locking on in the bathroom and one outside where they cant see each other?? or in the kitchen for example...
  2. Personally I dont see why a dog HAS to sleep inside either? Of course mine sleep inside every night Our family dog aslways slept outside, he was in with us during the night, but then was happy to curl up in his kennel utside to go to sleep...he was a Pomeranian shock horror I personally would get a crate, as puppies in bathrooms can make a big mess! lol!!! easier in my opinion to crate train, last thing you want to do before work and when coming home is clean uop all the mess and then have to bath the pup cause its been bouncing around in it  Although in saying that not all puppies are messy little buggers
  3. Hey there I have the same prob with my pups gultping there food... I am getting one of these for mine at home, they are a great idea, they have seperate chambers around a cone that slows your dog down when eating, you can also get ones that have cones in the middle that your dog has to eat around, hence having to slow down their eating habits.. Sorry if someone has already posted about these, but I havent read the entire thread http://www.eatslowerpetdishes.com/dogdishes.html
  4. Veanna & LMWS I too remember the long wait that Veanna had for the dear little puppy named "Odin" she would update us with all the "PINK" stuff she had brought (well she was expecting a girl) Fate took hand and sent Veanna a beautiful, loyal boy in the little white fluffy package of Odin, I enjoyed watching him grow on the thread and listening to all his antics and all the mischief he would get up to...I loved watching the bond grow between Indi and Odin, it was a very special bond and one that will be cherished forever... This really sucks, life is so cruel, its so unfair that Odin was taken so young, I cant get my head around it....I have tears steaming down my face because I am just so devastated for Veanna and her family... Veanna as I said previously Odin had been picked for you a long time before he was even conceived, he helped you through a terrible time in your life and will always watch over you and your little girl forever... Well done to the Alpinarc team "Doing it for Odin in Style" Rest In Peace dear Odin "The Protector, The Best Mate, The Hero" thoughts are with you Veanna
  5. Love the GSD RC.....My dogs do well on it If your pup has allergies as stated by Flava RC have a food hypoallergenic product (?) My girl gets the itchies from pro plan too and you bringing yours up only made me just realise, so in part thanks
  6. There are spray on sunscreens you can get, why not try those???
  7. I just stocked up on my dogs GSD Royal Canin, got 2 14 kilo bags for $95..........
  8. Hi what do you feed your staffy i have been feeding mine ( 5month old bitch ) Eukanuba and she looks fine almost finished 2nd 15kg bag so if this stuff is no good will try a new brand. any ideas ? Thanks You feed your dog what it does well on, if your dog likes it, is in good condition and looks healthy then leave her on the diet she is on...what else do you feed her?
  9. You can buy Eukanuba in KMart now and usually you can only buy supermarket brands there? Eukanuba used to be the best food, but then all these other brands came out (Super premium) I prefer RC GSD or Pro Plan, mt dogs do well on both, but they mainly get fed pro plan
  10. Best exercise for a growing GSD puppy is free running, it enables the puppy to go at its own leisure, speed and it can stop and rest if need be....careful not to throw toys etc as the stopping, fallinf and twisting movement can also create problems in a growing pup... Nice calm free exercise is the way to go puppies will generally wear them selves out without much exercise and take themselves off and have a rest... As your puppy grows you can increase the time of free exercise.... A lot of people will not reccomend lead walking for a growing GSD puppy as it can cause stress on the growing joints. because the puppy will naturally be trying to keep up with you and push itself to keep up Join us in the GSD thread, its a great place to learn and their are lots of knowledgable breeders in there who can help you on your way to a well exercised/socialised happy puppy!
  11. Even though you say she is still sociable now, straight after the attack, dont let your concerns drop. It can take a dog a long time to realise what has ahppened and for them to start showing signs of either fear aggression or being very timid around dogs...make sure you put as much into re-socialising her as possible, and make sure you find some big dogs for her to make friends with and encourage her to do so in a controlled environment.. My brothers GSD was attacked by a staffy when he was 4 months, he weas fine with other dogs straight after and was fine with a staffy down at obedience, but it wasnt until a couple months later that he became a little fear aggressive and timid...... I am so sorry to hear that this happened to your dog, its a horrible thing to happen.... The owner of the other dog must feel terrible, and good on you for not condeming her, her dog may have been fine in off leash areas previously and one day just changed its tune without warrant.... Hope your little baby recovers quickly and gets back to her quirky self! She is certainly a cutie and taking the bucket wearing in her stride!

    Satu

Sorry for your loss, you have given her more in the last month than she has ever experienced probably in her whole life.. Thoughts are with you at this difficult time Run Free at the bridge Satu
  13. Your puppy is having growth issues at 14 weeks? If he is skinny, I would be feeding him smaller meals more often, maybe he is also very enrgetic and burns it off quickly.. A change in diet can also affect puppies, especially if they have just left there mum and littermates recently.. Ava had a coat change, but it was thick and very healthy (nice shine) she has not had any dandruff, my breeder feeds advance, I kept Ava on it and slowly changed to pro plan and so far have not had any issues with her... Did your breeders suggest maybe a change in diet? Can we have a piccie of your puppy, please, we neeed something to goooo and gaaaaa over! :p Ill show you mine!

She is gone but will never ever be forgotten!!! Take care, my heart and thoughts are with you during this difficult time!
  16. I am so terribly sorry for your loss CM, She looked to be a very sweet girl... Remember Accidents happen and it was not your fault... May she run free at the rainbow bridge and may you have joy raising her beautiful puppies! :D
  17. You just have to make sure aswell that your passes for CCD are under at least 2 different judges
  18. Libby can do a sit stay, I think Rachelle meant that she wont sit still for 2 seconds meaning like she wont relax in general....not when training and giving commands... I have seen Libby do a sit and a drop stay and when she is given a command she has excellent focus and will not move unless given her release word..
  19. My issue is the 'supposed' research into getting this particular crossbreed, when only a very short time ago the OP was emailing Labrador breeders. Not once, in any thread the OP started about wanting to get a new dog, were these crossbreeds mentioned. Sounds like an impulse buy to me!! edit to say: research? yeah right! just because i didnt post about wanting an american bulldog or aussie bulldog doesnt mean anything do you want to know what i had 4 breakfast? i did alot of research on both breeds and couldnt decide which i wanted, so when i saw these advertised i thought about it, took me 3weeks to decide, call it implulse if u like. back to topic? Just remember that just because you THINK you got the best of both breeds in one dog does not mean YOU DO..
  20. I suggest you give ADT a call, my friend used them and said they were great with her dog... Here is their website if you have not already looked! http://www.australiandogtraining.com.au/ Goodluck and lets us know how you go!
  21. What happened to a dog is what you make it? Your a member too and you should know not to classify certain breeds as having uneven temprements, you own an Amm Staff correct, well a lot of people say things about them as a breed aswell...please dont classify certain breeds as having uneven temps its not a fair statement at all The fact that is a cross breed has no baring on this issue either... Lets get back on topic or close the thread
  22. Mark - The dogs behaviour does not really change after herding, I dont beleive that herding everyday would help this dog at all...JMO I think that sending this dog to the farm is the easy way out, never mind the other effects it will have on the dog, seperation anxiety, stress from leaving its pack, its home etc...this would not be in the best interest of the dog, the dog is at home during the day, but goes for a big run and ball game in the mornign followed by a swim and a walk and off lead run, sometimes with my dogs aswell....... I think this dog has issues a little deeper than just high drive, I think it could also be fear related too (type of first in best dresses scenario)
